aero3113 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Very odd but different, not sure if I like it http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-DELUXE-50-CUSTOM-PICK-UP-ONE-OF-A-KIND-MUST-SEE-ORIG-6-CYL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem220286270273QQitemZ220286270273 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 very nicely done..not sure if I would want the fender guides or whatever they are on the front.. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Another case of -- after all the trouble they went to, open the hood and there's the original green firewall and a rusty motor. If you look close.....you can see the P15 hood ornament. 1949 bumpers. A real duke's mixture. I rather like people with imagination and ingenuity. There was a fellow with a small body shop here who used to make pickups out of Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles and the like. He just did it for his own amusement. Would drive them a while til someone came along and bought them. Quote
greg g Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I believe I have a picture of this same vehicle from a show here in the central NY area. The green firewall doesn't convern me as much as the uncovered heater duct pass through. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 greg.....all ya gots to do is wad up the Sunday paper and stuff in that hole. That'll fix it. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Just noticed does it have a p15 hood ornament? Also are the sides of the box area padded? They look like they are covered with padded vinyl. That would be scary..... Quote
blueskies Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 It is definitely a yard sale of parts... those look like '49 fender trim pieces. the P15 hood ornament doesn't quite fit the radius of the hood nose, it points up in the air. Interesting use of the stainless rocker mouldings to trim the bed sides... I was hoping to see a pic of the tail gate open. Looks like it was made to hing at the bottom. Pete Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 does anyone recognize the headlight bezels? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Could they be '54 Plymouth??? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Bob...being an owner of a 54..would say not and if you look close the bottom of the bezel is not as thick as the top with the top being a brow so to speak..the pronounce bulge along the side..am thinking a Dodge had that feature but I don't know the model or year even if I am right about Dodge.. Quote
krodaddy Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I think it's pretty darn cool. Someone probably had a lot of fun building it. Barry Quote
greg g Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Here are a couple shots from my images. Looks like the headlamp trim has been recently aquired. Taken at our local MOPAR MADNESS in 06. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 I suspect those wheel covers are the owner's invention also. Would they be '54 Plymouth with Edsel type spinner added? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 I like to see owner made wheel covers. Some are pretty inventive. Some aren't. Back in the early 60s, I took a set of 57 Ford covers and mounted some aftermarket spinners purchased at Western Auto. Made a decent cap.....used them on a 60 Chevy wagon. Quote
blueskies Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 I think the headlight eyebrows are aftermarket add-ons, like these on ebay. Pete Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Thanks Pete..that be an added twist..will look for these at the upcoming swap meet.... Quote
Brendan D25 Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I now have a set of those headlight eyebrows like Pete posted on my 48 and have gotten many favourable comments about them. I also have a set of homemade hubcaps that I haven't used on anything yet. 1956 Monarch full caps with Mustang spinners. Quote
wldavis3 Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 greg.....all ya gots to do is wad up the Sunday paper and stuff in thathole. That'll fix it. ... then, for heat, just light it !!! Quote
Frank Elder Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 The feature I'm most intrigued by is the back cab wall. What do you think the donor is? Quote
old woolie Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 The feature I'm most intrigued by is the back cab wall. What do you think the donor is? I had a 67 Jeep Gladiator at one time. The back of the cab looked a lot like this. Quote
Bodacious Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Personally I don't like it at all, I think they ruined a nice car. But with 2 hrs. to go, it's at over $5K. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 some would say they ruined it..other would say it a nice mod..and then again not knowing the history of the car and the fact that a huge oak could have fallen across the aft end making this the better means to keep it on the road...all kinds of scenarios..all kinds of people..with serious bidding..the man only needs to find one person who likes the car... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Definitely one of a kind.....like it or not. You'll have the only one like it at the show. Quote
