Plymouthy Adams Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 It's 9AM and I have sprayed the cowl of the wagon this morning..got an early start....slight drizzle..helps keep dust out of the air, the heavier air allows the paint to lay down nice.. I pick on Darrin a lot with his Easter egg color P15..this car is going to match my pastel nature... Quote

Read three chapters of the new Clive Cussler book. Plans for this after noon include working onthe Studebaker Hood and fender. My wife is talking about doing some scraping, painting and priming on the house. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted September 7, 2008 Author Report Posted September 7, 2008 (edited) Gald eveyone is up and about...here is a couple shots..the light from the flash does not do the color justice and I did not want to open up the big door just yet..the back side of the cowl vent shows the color better.. Rodney Bullock Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Tim, that's nice, I know the camera can't capture the richness of fresh paint. Things are moving along nice. My painter told me the same thing one night, he said that he was painting my trunk and hood because it's starting to rain. I thought he was crazy however after seeing the result I understood. He has a serious dust problem. He's paint jobs are super clean. Quote
jaker6506 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 got up at 9am, now i am off to my buddies house to go watch the Pitt Steelers win another game! GO STEELERS! Quote
Reg Evans Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 "My wife is talking about doing some scraping, painting and priming on the house." Greg, Is this Honey Do for you or the wife? Quote
greg g Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 As we speak she has just cleaned up after scraping, sanding, puttying, and priming som trim on the front of the house. Yesterday she painted the front door and cleaned the inside and outside of the garage door windows. Now she said she was going to get some material for garage window curtains, as the old ones were badly faded. I think this is her way of dealing with the begining of football season. I just put a layer of icing on some filler work I am doing on my Studebaker hood. Quote

Norm's Coupe Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Some of you guys get up pretty late in the morning. I was up my usual time of 6 AM this morning. Spent from about 6:15 to around 7:30 learning and exploring the different things I can do with new equipment for my other hobby. Ate breakfast and went back to exploring the new equipment again until around 11 AM. Ate lunch with the wife, then we drove out to look go through the house she grew up in. It's for sale again and was supposed to be an open house between 1 PM and 3 PM according to the newspaper ad. She wanted to do a walk through to see what changes people had made to the old homestead her parents built in 1947. Got there and no real estate agent to be seen, but the owners were out in the yard working when we pulled into the driveway. They said the ad must be a mistake because they had told the agent they couldn't have an open house today because they were having a party later in the afternoon. (somebody screwed up there). Anyway, they were real nice people. Wife explained we didn't want to buy it and why she wanted to look at the house. So..........they invited us in anyway and gave us the grand tour. The woman even gave the wife a big hug as we were leaving. So, all turned out good anyway even if the ad was wrong. Since my brother in laws house was right on the way between that house and ours, we stopped for a little visit with them on the way home. He was putzng on his 36 Ford 3 window coupe when we got there. So.........I haven't even been in the garage today, much less think about working on the coupe. In fact, haven't been in the garage all weekend. Did some things with the wife yesterday, then was exploring the new piece of equipment for the other hobby yesterday in the house for about 3 or 4 hours. Learning everything about this new equipment is going to take some time. There's about 10,000 different things I will be able to do with it, once I learn what's all on it and how to make the switch easily from one to the other. Will be a great winter hobby and lots of fun. Quote
Brendan D25 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Norm, you got me curious about this other hobby. It's like waiting for the other shoe to drop. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 yeah..does it involve going past the end of the driveway? Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Pretty productive day for me! Finished the mufflers on my car, rebuilt a spare carb and put it on, changed the plugs, changed the oil and tuned the carb and timing. Took a test drive and running smoother and quieter as well. Norm's Coupe Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 yeah..does it involve going past the end of the driveway? Didn't mention what it was because it's way off topic, involves no cars. Picked up a new Yamaha electronic keyboard (music) Friday night. Will allow me to connect it to the computer so I can write and rearrange music, then save, print and/or burn a CD at the same time. Can also record directly off to a recorder if I hook one up to it. It also has tons of different sound effects you can add to the music, even a car engine running. Playing the music isn't a problem but the thing also has tons of buttons and knobs to make the switches for different sounds, etc. Have to learn how to operate it now so I can make those switches on the fly in the middle of a piece, if needed. It will play the tones of any instrument you can think of so I can layer those different instruments into one melody. I can do it all and not make a sound that anyone can hear except me if I use the headphones. So..........like I said, many of you wouldn't be interested in that hobby. That's why I didn't mention it in the other post. However, it's been something I've wanted to get back into for years. I started playing music when I was a kid in the 2nd grade on various instruments, with the trombone being my primary instrument for at least 15 years. Haven't played or rearranged/written any music since I was about 20 or 21 years old. That's over 40 years ago. I've had a blast doing it since Friday night. Spent another 2 or 3 hours since the last post here on it. Use to play music about that much before I got married. Even had a little dance band back then to write for and play music. Not doing it now to make money. It's just a nice hobby for me. However, once I get this thing down, I may scout out some small local group that does small local gigs just for fun like Bob T does. Guess playing music is like riding a bicycle. Once you learn how you never forget. It's just all these electronic gadgets I have to get accustom to. Quote
dezeldoc Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Yep the day progressed real well! after it got to 105, I got the pool and yard done, wife and I ate lunch went out and was tinkering on the motorcycle and heard a crakkkkk, looked behind me and one of the neighbors trees fell over and took out the fence and also my pool yard fence! missed my 41 Sedan Delivery by a few feet. Oh well at least I had a good nap!! Quote
Normspeed Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Spent a lot of the weekend (think it's the weekend) loading the flatbed and pickup truck for the next NM run. I did manage to get in some quality time with my P24, running errands. A guy at a stop light asked if I wanted to sell it. Took a little Sunday evening drive, right after sunset. The 100 degree weather is finally moderating and it was a great time for a cruise. The car is running great and will soon be making the run to NM too. Quote
Arkansawer Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Got up at 5am, and went to work. Got back home around 10 and slept til 1:30, i was running on about 3 hrs of sleep.
