Don Coatney Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Hey Don, I learned so much from that show. What did you learn? Quote
busycoupe Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Looks great Rodney! When I was a kid there was a Studebaker dealer here in town. When they changed over to a Toyota dealership in the late '60s the owner kept one of the Hawks in the back of his shop. It was a later one, I think it was turbocharged. He kept it there until the Toyota dealership closed about 5 years ago. I used to love to go drool over that car. I wish now that I paid closer attention to what happened to it when the dealership finally closed. -- Thanks for bringing back memories. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Hay Rodney I had a Studebaker but it was a 1931 four door sedan. Just a little bit older than yours. Jon Quote
Brendan D25 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Fantastic job. I think somebody from Hemmings Classic Car should come to see you. It would be a good story for them to do. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 7, 2008 Author Report Posted September 7, 2008 What did you learn? Well Don, the one thing I learned is there is something beyond this small existance we call earth, also that all people can work live and travel together on ship with a common goal....To boldly go where no man has gone before;) The one big thing I learned from that show was that technology is our friend and that being afraid of change is detrimental to progress:cool: Hey Jon, you have had some fine cars The few that I know of makes for a great expereince. The 31 studebaker is a fine pre war car. Busycoupe, you are very lucky to have had a dealership in your area, yes those later hawks were supercharged and that one you saw was very special I think maybe an R1 or R2 Hawk. I remember a hawk sitting oin an ESSO station when I was a kid, I knew it was nice however I did not know how much, they are great cars. I am not a ford or a chevy man I just like great body lines and designs on cars some of this stuff is pure genious. Brendan D25 I have been in a number of magazines over the years however Hemming's had eluded me. I love that mag and who knows. Quote
studebaker Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 i have a 58 packard hawk and hope it looks that sweet when its done. nice job !!!!!!!!!. skip. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 This one just happened to be staying at the same hotel as our Detroit POC meet. He was there for a big concourse show that was on sunday when most of the poc guys were headed home. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Man, you are lucky to have seen that one. That's a Golden hawk around a 1957, this one is a Hard top or what they call a K body. By the time my car was produced they were making C bodies only, after mine all GT hawks were hardtops. That color is magnificent, white walls make these cars. I wanted a 61 because to me the 61 model year marked the end of an era, the fins without the fins how can a hawk fly:D thanks for that pic I really enjoyed it! Quote
greg g Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 That one was very nice, had the supercharger. Color was listed as some sort of red. Rodney don't forget the Studebaker meet in Lancaster PA, Starts next Wed the 14,th. Nice day trip for the Hawk (Hawk be kicking trip 1) Shouldn't be to far about the same as York. http://www.sdcmeet.com/ Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Hey Greg, I am gearing up for that meet as my buddy kaiser needs a trunk lid for his 1941 stude champion coupe , we will be walking that swap meet to find one. I really don't need anything for myself as my car is finished. I did all my shopping when we were in reedsville and york. The money I have been saving now will go to the airplane I am going to build. I can't wait being up in the wild blue yonder:cool: I wonder if I can find an air strip to land in Tenn maybe in a cetain someones back yard:eek: Quote
