  1. Welcome! Post some pics for us if you can?
  2. I might not be the only one who suggests this, but unless you have a major leak, IMO I'd leave it alone. My Meadowbrook still has the original 70 year old oil in it...works perfect. Before you go draining anything wait for some others to give opinions.
  3. I have bones in my feet that are out of place, and they cause me great pain. Hips are out of adjustment too, along with my right knee. Getting better though as the chiropractor has adjusted me a couple of times now. ?
  4. 11-19: Been driving in to work all week. Here's a shot at home for a bit...I stayed parked outside because right after supper I took off for the chiropractor, which is where I'm at now. My feet need an adjustment ? The Meadowbrook gets me where I need to go!
  5. 11-13: This is the bank parking lot, which I went to after work. Then I drove about 12 miles into the country to a friend's place. He needed help unloading a heavy tool box out of a trailer. His dad liked my car and asked about it. On the way home: heater cranked. Been chilled today.
  6. 11-11: Kids felt couped up at home so I took 'em out for a night cruise. Pic 1: warming up. Heat on low with window cracked was sufficient. Pic 2: at Kwik Trip for snacks. We cruised around town and eventually crossed the bridges (yep two... the old one goes over to Wisconsin and the new one comes back over to Minnesota) that span the Mississippi. So glad I have my kids to cruise around with. We have so much fun ?
  7. 11-1: Just got to work. Changed the oil and filter last night. I should be set for a while. I found my magnetic oil pan heater that I used to use for my EcoDiesel and put it on the oil pan of the Meadowbrook last night. 27F this morning. It worked nicely. I had heat a lot quicker. I will probably attach that every night for quicker warm-ups during the cold months. Sure is fun to drive it to work!
  8. Happy Veteran's Day to all my fellow squids (and all other branches). Thank you for your service and sacrifices. Desert Storm is really starting to feel like a long time ago for me. Veteran's Day 2000: I met a WWI vet after the unveiling of their memorial here in Winona. He was 103. He died 3 weeks later.
  9. 11-9: Been working on colored pencil drawings lately. I posted one on Me and the Meadowbrook yesterday. Today's drawing: my 48 B1D up on blocks with the wheels off and the hood open during autumn. Real life, its up on blocks in my crappy garage. ?
  10. I don't have pics, and I didn't weld it. A friend did. He butt welded and then used heavy strips of steel to join the mating parts and welded those. It was solid.
  11. Welcome! Congrats on the purchase. I did the very same thing you're doing (partial frame swap) with a car I had about 20 years ago. A rust free replacement was sent from Arizona. Love the car and your detailed intro; keep us informed!
  12. 11-8: Ran various errands today in the Meadowbrook. Talked to a guy in the Fleet Farm parking lot for a little bit until his wife dragged him away. My daughter's religion teacher asked about the car after class. My most satisfying moment of the day though, was doing this colored pencil drawing. I had to cut a little bit of it off to make it fit under the 3MB limit, but you get the picture. This is where I want to be: just pulled up on the beach somewhere with the Meadowbrook. Gonna go for a walk in the warm sand....
  13. 11-6: After work I darn near got hit head on by a woman attempting to turn left across my lane in front of me. Modern Brembo 6 piston brakes couldn't have stopped the car in time. At the last second she finally saw the big green bathtub coming and she swerved back into her lane. I gave her a dirty look. It didn't make me feel good. One of my coworkers rear-ended someone this morning when he blew a brake line. I headed to the liquor store. When I pulled into the parking lot I could see a guy eyeballing my car from another store front. He was standing by my car when I came out with my Smirnoff. We chatted for about 10 minutes; I told him everything about the car. He liked it alot and said he was glad to see it being driven and used. He was probably 30, so it was nice to see someone younger interested. He also said he's a fan of the show Road Kill. After that I grabbed a pizza at Domino's. After rolling on a coat of paint in my daughter's room I made a run to Kwik Trip for some snacks. My car makes people stare. ? Sometimes I know they're not stares of admiration, but of ignorant astonishment; "how does that old thing even run?" one might be thinking. Ahh if they only knew. I'm impervious to computer diagnostic hook-ups and any EMP attacks ? Last pic: right before I pulled into the garage.
  14. 11-6: On the way to work I got stuck behind a train....for an HOUR. Yes, a whole hour! It was maddening. ?
  15. 11-6: Warming up before work. Cool this morning, but didn't need the heat. Over 70F today! The record high for the whole state of MN (for the month of Nov.) was 84F right here in Winona on Nov. 1, 1950. I wonder if Ray Sebo (my car's original owner) bought the Meadowbrook that day?!
  16. 11-4: Having lunch in the back seat today. Driver's side doors open, passenger windows down, slight breeze passing through. I wish I could've taken an afternoon nap ?
  17. 11-3: Ate lunch in my car as I have for the past couple of weeks. The sun was so warm shining into the front seat that I moved to the back seat. ? Later on my son and I went to the church. Then a rogue snack at Kwik Trip. I had decaf coffee. We cruised around for about 1/2 an hour. Windows down, fresh air vent open. I utilized fluid drive quite a bit downtown. Was too lazy to push in the clutch. My son and I like to watch the "leaf races" as we drive. The leaves go shooting across the street, sometimes underneath the car. I like the sounds of that. I parked in the alley for a while so I'd have more room to work on my 48 B1D.
  18. 11-2-20: My son and I are working on the rear brakes. Those C-anchors are giving me trouble. One bolt I was able to get loose, the other side spins with the ratchet. I see on the backside that the bolt has flats on it... I suppose the solution to the very problem I'm having ? It's going to need more soaking first. I'm trying to take advantage of the warm weather here. Mid to upper 60s all week. I finally got my bench cleaned off and a few things straightened out so I can actually walk around in my garage. I'll be sending the brake shoes to a place in Minneapolis to be relined/restored; that is, if the idiotic domestic terrorists don't burn the place down.
  19. 11-2: Drove the Meadowbrook to work this morning as usual. After work I spent a little time in the parking lot talking to my boss. A woman and her dog approached us (she was about 80 if I had to guess) and she asked: "Who's beautiful Chevy is that there?" I laughed and said, "it's mine but its not a Chevy, it's a Dodge." She said she liked it a lot. I told her it would be there every day if she was walking by (I've seen her before when we have the big shop door open). Later, daughter and I stopped at Fleet Farm for dog food and some other things. Then we cruised around for about 20 minutes. That's the moon above the FF sign.
  20. Cool video Keith. I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Love that car ?
  21. 11-1: A view of the Meadowbrook from the upstairs of our house. Later on, to the church for my daughter's religion class. After that we snuck in a Kwik Trip run for snacks. Heat on high...
  22. Same for me ?
  23. Halloween: The Meadowbrook stayed parked at the curb after that to guard the house from the ghosts and goblins ? Figured you all would like these pics. Happy Halloween everybody!
  24. Halloween 2020: I took the Meadowbrook out for a pre-trick-or-treat spin in my costume. Got a few looks at traffic lights ??
  25. 10-30: On our way home we had to snap a pic of this Halloween lawn. So many inflatables! You might have to enlarge it to get a good view. Windows down, heater on low....
