  1. that is awesome! thanks for sharing the pix. isn't amazing what a little rubbing compound and a lotta work will do. I love the truck and welcome to the forum.
  2. that is a niiiiiice truck.
  3. yup. that's it. the extra teeth did it. it's a go. thanks Tim for the photoshop
  4. Paul, do not go the maaco route, all the good work will look like crap (IMHO) if you do. Yes, the same color is going to be used on the truck. I paid $39.95 a gallon off of the bay. It is very shiny and purple is my favorite color. the going price on a top chop??? you would have to call some shops that do this and get a feel as it will vary from shop to shop. Figure approk 5k or so. here is a link from the forum that has a nice chopped pilothouse. this is the one that made me go and buy one of these things. LOL http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=208&highlight=chopped
  5. I understand some won't like the grille choice, but I want the exterior to look like an old 50's custom and the plastic dakota grille just won't cut it. I fashioned the idea of the grille from the one I built for my 49 Plymouth.
  6. the bracket on the bottom of the column moves up some, but not enough to not have the steering wheel up against my chest. I may be able to shorten it, but it is a collapsible column and I don't think I want to mess with the fluting.
  7. you might want to check the length of the Dakota column to what will fit in your cab. Mine sits way too far back towards the seat, I have to find a shorter one. Bummer. Bud
  8. X2 (chintzy might not be a word, but it should be...)
  9. progress pics........ we need progress pics
  10. frame looks sweet
  11. I have thought about it, don't know yet, I am trying to get 49 Plymouth tail lights to fit on the rear fenders, It will take a bunch of re work, but I think it is do-able, Bud
  12. I have a set of rechromed bumpers for a 52 Dodge convertible that fit like a glove, I will need to make brackets though. Bud
  13. Gas tank will be located in the bed under the floorboards, grille pic attached, need to find two more teeth for it still. I cut the boards towards the front to hide most of the welding. Bud
  14. your last sentence scares me... You think you could get a set to work. please make sure the bores are much much better than just ok, As an insurance adjuster, I see the results of brakes that the owners thought would be "ok". It's not worth the extra few $$$ if you are not completely positive about the condition of the bores. Just my 2 cents. Bud
  15. That is a sweeeeeet looking truck. Ya did good! Bud
  16. might make a great push truck for your bonneville pilothuse.........
  17. Sorry Tim, just realized you were talking about the turn signals and not the park lamps.... DUH..... I must be blonde under the grey.... They are not staying. Does anyone need them????m Bud

  24. I have 49 Plymouth turn signals for the front, I am trying for 49 Plymouth tail lights too, but they may be a real headache to get to fit correctly, but they would look awesome. the grille is a 52 Buick and fits great in the opening. Bud
  25. turn signals are long gone, sorry, I haven't even thought about the rails, great food for thought..... Bud
