  1. good solid fenders, no rust out that I can see, they have the usual dents for the age. one has a small weld spot. $50.00 each. from what I hear, these will fit up to about 1985? Bud
  2. been kinda slow, I'm looking for a 318 and a 727 or 904 combo to put in it since I don't want the FI motor that is in it. Until I find (and fund) one, I've been taking a small vacation from it. Bud
  3. mine went home with Tom (kuster13), after he picked up his new 116 inch bed today. Thanks Tom, for the visit. Sure enjoyed it. Bud
  4. right on, Tim. adventure is what it's all about.
  5. there are some good answers on the posts on the hamb. Depending on which struts would work, I lean towards using stock ones off any model vehicle that would adapt well. I love the panel and what you are trying to do to the suspension is not insurmountable. I am sure you will get this small detour fixed in no time. keep us posted on the fix. Bud
  6. the problem would not be that it was welded, but in the quality of the weld. is the person welding qualified to know how to set the welder to get the proper penetration? Just because you can lay down a bead does not mean it is a good, safe weld. If your well versed in welding all different thicknesses of steel, then by all means go for it, if not, how much is your life or your childs life worth if it breaks off on the highway? This advise and a buck will buy ya a cup of coffee at Dennys Bud
  7. My dad has a bunch of those flatheads stored at his place, I will see if he has one next time I am there.
  8. does your center cap have 3 threaded holes on the underside or are there clips on the emblem mounts? It looks as though you have everything except the spring if you have the clips on the center cap. if your center cap has the threaded holes, you need to find the 3 long screws that come up from the bottom of the steering wheel and screw into the cap.
  9. If no one needs them, I will sadly have to let the scrap Gods claim them.
  10. that works soooo gooooood. I have taken my cab off by myself numerous times, although I have to do the lifting thru the front windshield as the cab is sooooo looooooow. Bud
  11. Lookin good. Sure will be fancier than mine. One day we will have to meet up and oogle each others trucks. Bud
  12. Heavens no!!! My real name is Floyd!!!!
  13. if anyone thinks this might be staged, just look at the cab to running board area. you can see how far the cab is shifted at the rear towards the edge of the running board comparable to the front of the cab and running board. that was a hard hit. Bud
  14. Tim, here is some pics of how I removed my cab, the idea came from Tom. I had it on this forum, but it disappeared. here is the link on the hamb. Bud http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=302730
  15. if it were me, I would look for an inexpensive door off a different make or model and find one that has a good underside with comparable radiuses. cut what you need and make her fit. been there and done that, Bud
  16. sorry for the caps, just got up, still trying to find that brain lobe
  17. as quoted on the prior post..... "I put mine on the Dakota Chassis as the truck is being built for the wife and she has some disabilities. The power rack and pinion, discs and the modern drivetrain will be much easier for her." This is not AN EASY TASK, YOU MUST HAVE SOME WELDING SKILLS AND SOME FABRICATION SKILLS AND (SOME PEOPLE THINK) YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST A QUARTER OF YOUR LEFT BRAIN LOBE MISSING.....Bud
  18. I want one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E25pYCTNq4Q
  19. I'm actually glad to see this truck because it has answered a few questions in my mind. I had planned on welding the fender to header seams up..... not any more. I had also planned on frenching the headlights.... not any more either. a good lesson in what not to do. Bud
  20. or, as Ralph use to say.... "to da moon Alice, to da moon!"
  21. Interesting grille choice, but not my cup of tea. The chop looks unfinished to me because the front windshield is much higher than the side windows. Looks out of proportion. I was wondering how the nose would look if it was welded to the fenders. Now i know.
  22. I need the front fenders, do you have them?
  23. What shape are the fenders in and where are you located?
  24. Now that I put my newly aquired bed on my truck, I have the rear frame that was made into a trailer left. Anyone in the pacific northwest in need of rear springs or a rear end or rear frame parts? Pics available if needed... Bud
