  1. Good for mirrors, wheel lugs, not so much.
  2. If you have a 49 plymouth engine in your car, it won't fit. I think spitfire heads are for the 25" block.
  3. Now that I think about it, if the truck was converted to 12 volts, my guess is that it doesn't. There ain't no 12 volt bulls eyes.
  4. That looks like a real live honest-to-goodness bulls-eye headlight there. Does it work?
  5. Isn't great when you fix something yourself, AND, end up with a new tool.
  6. The starters should be the same, but you may be able to solve the problem by cleaning and lightly lubing the armature shaft so the gear can slide out all the way easier. Do the cheap stuff first.
  7. I may have gone too far with extras. I have sheets of S&H green stamps in my ash tray. Plaid stamps too, and some Martin oil co. Anybody ever use purple martin gas? I have plenty of stamps and I am willing to share if you're interested in a sheet.
  8. My original bumper bolts, (P-15), were 7/16 oval head carraige bolts. Like an idiot, I bought some 1/2" ones and filed out the square holes in the bumper. I only did two of those before I searched and found a good hardware store that carries 7/16"ers. They're out there, you just gotta look around.
  9. I use synthetic gun oil in mine, it seems to stay thin in the winter. No, its not for synthetic guns.
  10. Northwest Indiana, next door to the murder capitol on the nation.
  11. That there is a '70 Pontiac.
  12. Check into the brake pedal return, it has to come all the way back. Also check the pushrod between the master cylinder and the booster to make sure it is not holding the master cylinder piston down, there should be a small amount of play between them.
  13. Bob, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Just know that there is a whole world of us out hear that feel for you and want to comfort you. You may not know us personally, but we are with you in our hearts.
  14. It's been a while, but I got stainless beaded strips from JC Whitney. You have to invent your own way to attach them, but they can be formed and look pretty good. It seems they were not very expensive either, shipped in a long tube.
  15. Ken Bartz has posted a picture of exactly what I have done except that there was a 1/2" pipe thread hole just below the carb where the wiper hose connects. I put in a tee and use it for both the pcv and the wipers. It is a good idea to try and use a pcv valve for an engine of the same c.i. displacement as it does raise the idle speed somewhat. Oddly, my 97 Buick has a 3.8 in it which is comparable to the 230 in the Plymouth.
  16. Greg, the announcers name was Edward Everett Horton. Edward Everett was the main speaker at the dedication of the National cemetary in Gettysburg in 1863. Now I am worried that I have spelled Everett wrong.
  17. I am on my way home from Nampa after a visit to Hopkins antique auto parts in Caldwell, Idaho. When I noticed that there were quite a few empty spaces, the owner said, "The crusher is coming the 18th for the rest of them. Scrap prices are too high". That means about 500 more cars, mostly 40's and 50's will be turned into computer frames. Very sad.
  18. Is your postman's name Cliff Clavin by any chance? Didn't Newman go to jail for using a post office truck to return empty bottles?
  19. ......be sure you have a camera with you.........
  20. It's illegal to drive barefoot here in Indiana too. No one could tell me why, but I think it might be that a long time ago, when the law was written, many cars had metal pedals with no rubber pads. If they got hot while driving, you would have been hesitant to use the brakes. Just a wild idea.
  21. Do not use ether in a Diesel. It's great fun to watch from a safe distance, but very expensive to clean up after.
  22. They have a nice club in Anchorage called the "Antique Auto Mushers". One on the members has a beautiful blue '41 Plymouth convertible. Getting there is easy, just remember to turn left at Tok.
  23. M A N is a German manufacturer of large trucks and busses. i think.
  24. A pick-up going down the hiway in Alabama with a tarp covering something in the bed? You're gonna have to be a lot more specific than that. you just described 90% of the traffic. Sorry, I meant no insult, but I just can't pass up a straight line like that.
  25. Some of my best friends are white bread, green toothed, truck driving sister lovers!
