  1. I had 65 Lincoln, big black monster. The power steering pump quit and when I found out what it took to fix it, off the big scrap yard in the sky it went. It too, as a car, was a big disappointment.
  2. I have a perfect one inch square permanent copy of the inside of my watch band on my left wrist because I was too stupid to lift that battery cable. I'm pretty good about it now.
  3. What car?
  4. A couple of years ago, or more, I got an electronic vibrator, ( insert joke of your choice here), from a place in Florida. I think it was called antiqueautoradios.com, or something like that. It worked real good for a while even though there was no hum. One day it melted because I didn't change the capacitors like I was supposed to when I put in the vibrator. I did remove the old capacitors but didn't replace them, so now I don't remember where they go. Nice looking radio with a new dial glass sittin on the shelf. Real quiet like.
  5. Sounds like another example of Mopar using parts from different suppliers. Too bad my brain can't do that, I could get some parts that work for a change.
  6. Central52 and everyone else, I am sorry about the public senior moment I had on the headlight switch question. Sometimes my brain is on a track and can't be switched, (no pun in tended). Lately I seem to confuse easily. I went to the garage and stuck my hand behind the dash for a quick lesson in how things REALLY are. Theres a set screw in the bottom of the knob that allows you to pull the knob off the shaft. The chrome ring behind the knob unscrews so you can pull the switch out from behind. Again, I apologize for the delco instructions and I am sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused.
  7. No wonder Santa only leaves home once a year !
  8. 1997 Buick Lesabre Limited
  9. Service manual says 2 1/16" on the rods and 2 1/2" on the mains.
  10. "The beatings will continue until employee morale improves" Capt. Jack
  11. It's about $3.14 most places here in northwest Indiana.
  12. OK, I bought a jar to see what its like. It doesn't look too good. From the label; Ingredients: Wheat Bran, Wheat, Molasses, Maltodextrin (from corn). Serving size 1 tsp. calories 10 % daily values; Total fat 0% Sodium 0% Total carb 3g 1% Protein og It does look like a good pot-scrubber
  13. A beautiful '49 Plymouth convertible is featured in the February issue of Cars and parts magazine. If you don't subscribe, it's worth running out and buying a copy.
  14. If there are any Postum drinkers lurking around, the news is that they are no longer making it. It has gone for $8 a jar on the bay. I saw it today at Wal-mart for $4.17. The maker says all thats left is in the market and there ain't gonna be any more. Can't stand the stuff myself, but maybe an investment?
  15. To everyone on this great and international site, I wish you each a very happy and prosperous new year. You all deserve it.
  16. Shel, you are right about the backing plate. I didnt look at the picture before I went off there. What gets me is the brake shop told him they had adjusted the star wheels. That means even tho he has the right brakes, he has the wrong shop.
  17. To quote your post; "They said that they adjusted out the star adjusters a bunch in the rear and were still not getting the right amount of drag on the drum". '54 Dodge brakes don't have star adjusters. First you have to find out what that axle is out of. Those drums don't look right either.
  18. Maybe I'm just lazy, but that sounds to me like fixing things that ain't broke. Keep 'em well greased and drive on ! Call it saving something for when you're bored.
  19. It's a right hand thread. Block the flywheel and have at it.
  20. I'm with you on that, Norm. It's nice to be able to warn cel-phoners that you are going to change speed. The real reason I went to a mechanical switch is bcause the hydraulic switch on my 49 DeSoto popped apart just as I was pulling in behind my other car after work. No damage, but it convinced me immediately that there is a great advantage to mechanical switches; you don't lose your brakes when the switch breaks.
  21. John, If you don't mind, please post your address so we can comply with your request. Thank you.
  22. That sounds like the kind of thing an alignment shop would do to avoid replacing a weak spring. Look for a mopar part number on it just out of curiosity.
  23. I don't think thats the same car, as I saw this one here last summer. I too, have everything put her on the road, except the cash. It also needs 1/4 and vent windows, but all the rest of the trim appears to be there. Oddly, the steering wheel seems to be bent badly or broken. It must be somebody's parts car. I wonder what they have that makes this one sit outside. Nice rocker panel trims and hood ornament.
  24. Holiday in Idaho, I saw this p-15 in a fenced in lot in Nampa. Missing only a few things. I have no idea who's it is, nor any way to find out. They probably wouldn't let me carry it on the plane home anyway.
  25. I think 6 cyl. Falcons use 4 bolt wheels where 8 cyl's use 5. I rah into this looking for a spare wheel for my 1966 Shasta trailer.
