  1. Congratulations, Bob. You've put a lot of time and work into that car and it shows. Its nice that other people recognize that too. You and the car deserve it.
  2. I'm sorry to hear about the Mrs. fall. Take care of her, Bob. Tell Cooper he's gotta learn to go by himself!
  3. Thats a great looking car there. Only $500??? I'd take all I could get at that price!
  4. Everyone should have the respect for their car that you have for yours. Very inspirational.
  5. Every post is better than the last! How do you do it?
  6. Thats really neat! Looks great, like a nice little home town ought to look in 1950.
  7. As does talking about it. Its over, ok?
  8. Hey, look !! There's a red convertible in some of those pictures !
  9. Virtual hug, if you must. But only one arm.
  10. Boy, thats a nice looking car
  11. Sorry, I thought of that just as I hit the enter key. Guess I should have taken a better look at that picture!
  12. Patty looks happy. The name fits, too, she looks like a "Patty".
  13. Those are excellent pictures, Robin. The car is quite stunning also. Seriously, you can post all of those you want, I'm ready for 'em.
  14. My Dad bought a '48 about 1951 trading a '35 Chevy on it. He kept it several years taking us from Canada to Florida and East to Pittsburgh on vacations. It was the first car I drove. I was probably 12 or 13. When I started working in the mill I bought a first series '49 for $35 and drove it for two years. One day after finishing up the midnight shift, a buddy and I decided to make a four-door convertable. We got the top off ok with hacksaws and chisels, but the first time we tried to go around the block in our new toy, a wheel cylinder blew and it was off to the junk yard with it. I still have pictures of that car. The '48 I have now was purchased in Shelbyville Indiana in August of 1994 because I wanted one and this one was all there, but needed lots of work. It still needs lots of stuff, but I'm having too much fun playing with it to stop and work on it.
  15. Y'all are just havin' too much fun !
  16. We learner quickly that the early round pull tabs when straightened out, can be used to fool a parking meter. Just stick it in and pull it out and you get two parking periods. I think thats why they went to an oval shaped tab that didn't work so well. Did you ever pour a bag of M&Ms into a 6 0z. Coke and see if you can drink it without spilling any?
  17. Thanks, Bob. its nice to know a little more about him besides his being a big ham. Perhaps the forum needs a "traveling partner mascot".
  18. They turned up at a rummage sale where I bought them.
  19. Just nosey, Bob, but where did you find Cooper? How did he come to live with you?
  20. "BobT-47P15 I've been using Valvoline 10W-40 for several years. Works OK for me." Don't you think you oughtta change it by now?
  21. Roof rack? Cheap model, and cheaper model.
  22. Mine has that too!
  23. I have given some thought also to converting to floating brake shoes. I notice that floating brake shoes use the wheel cylinder mount to stop the shoes from rotating around in the drum. Our cylinders are mounted by two small screws through the backing plate. I don't think that is enough to stop the wheel under severe pressure. Wheel cylinders for floating shoes have a large circular shoulder that fits tightly into a hole in the backing plate. The answer could be to change to cylinders of the same bore from a floating shoe designed system and then just make the correct size hole in the original backing plate. There also may be a problem with the piston pushrod to the shoe. Maybe not. I really think that somehow this can be done, and I think it will be easy when someone finally figures it out.
  24. I've held off saying anything because I don't have any idea what dental material would cost to use. I just now went to see the knobs. I would take a set at $5 each. They're just another thing priced out of my reach. Or reason.
