  1. Swing and a miss, Looks like Jimbob has a starter issue what part on the starter causes this mis engagement or wears out and needs attention? Going to switch starters for now but, I was gonna work it over next fall. Thanks
  2. Ken, east on Kettleman, left on 88, right on Brandt.... then roll your window down, listen for the subtle sound of a flathead with Swiss cheese for an exhaust system. Or look on the horizon for the blueish white cloud...... that will be me. I’ll be on the track preparing to “school” those T-5 brothers ?
  3. I am probably the wrong person to answer. I vote, take the tappet covers off, make sure the valves open and close, make sure the timing is right, get the radiator in and fire it up ?
  4. For sure, we are easily entertained ? your right, synchro’d now I have to work on figuring the two speed end of things. my HH only has a High and Low knob, this trucks vacuum line to the speedometer was deleted (seems like this only effects the speedometer accuracy) But the cable on the stick shift was not as freely moving as I think it should be. I swapped the valves from ones I just cleaned up for “Buck” but, I’d like to rebuild the factory cable from Buck and use it. (Mostly cause I don’t care for the hose clamp look and it’s original) Also not 100% on the entire vacuum system yet (with the way the ride ended.) isn’t there a way to check for vacuum leaks with hair spray or starter fluid?
  5. Lol, don’t be dissin the hat, my straw hat got stretched out some how ? (Photo, ggdad and 48dodger)
  6. Gosh I can see why TJ said that. The second photo doesn’t look right to me either.... almost looks like a throttle plate off a carb or something down in the intake hole .
  7. Lol, she bailed cause it was snanky and she couldn’t stand the smell anymore After watching YouTube, I removed the fuel tank and “flushed” it. Not proud of the method and I wouldn’t do it again, but now I’ve got to dump it out and try and burn off the residue.
  8. congrats on your new truck Try here https://www.t137.com/registry/help/decode.php post pictures on the truck side ?
  9. Back in business! short trip with my best friend but, we had fun. Yeah, it was actually an undersized throttle return spring issue ? how embarrassing
  10. Glad you got it figured out for yours. Neither of my flatbeds are factory but the one ton has the 84” you refer to. The “GA” has a 91” wide bed that (to me) fits nicely because someone also put the 8.25x 20’s on the rear and apparently that puts the tire width to 88” back there ?
  11. Lol, thread title is “been a different day” and you mentioned a mustang owner with “identity issues” nope, sounds about right ?
  12. This may or may not help http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/vin/model.htm I am gonna call it a column shift...... the bars on the floor look like hood supports.....
  13. Right on! Welcome I wouldn’t have guess it to be a 51...with the drivers door and the front top radiator cowl that screams 48-50 to me. have fun with it ?
  14. ATA boy Merle! I am always amazed how many reasons folks try to give, not to attend this event. ? nice try Keithb7, see you there....
  15. Can’t speak for the mid west shops but Bill, Less Schwab had flaps and tubes when I replaced my tires (2018). I did end up going with a 215/85/16 radials cause it makes me happy but, they had bias available.
  16. Hahaha, the image of you pushing those kids out of the way to get at the front just makes me happy! ? hooray for men in their 50’s
  17. I know, you probably know the left lug nuts and bud locks are probably left hand threaded. Just a reminder ? the last three trucks I’ve worked on recently, all have had a broken stud on the left side. Kinda make me think someone forgot at some point
  18. you should post a photo of the truck (cause it makes us happy?) in my opinion, SS are indeed special but, if you’re asking if the value Is higher and more desirable. probably not to many folks outside of this community. You could sit on it longer looking for the right buyer, If you were happy with what you thought it would go for, sell it and move on.
  19. Yeah, Sure do!!! Just called her, and thanked her ?
  20. 51deg In the area I was in yesterday, and it was the first day this year I saw an “ice cream truck” lol, it was a small Astro van, with a homemade looking sticker of a pop sickle on the side door, in a questionable neighborhood, playing “ice cream truck music” over a loud speaker...... Kinda made me cringe......
  21. I like it! ? Is that a 1.5ton? What is your goal for it. Restore, rebuild, remod or other?
  22. LOL, sounds like he is taking him off the trailer today.... shouldn’t be too much longer ?
