  1. jeez......how did you manage to get a shot of my bad side?
  2. I don't know Don.......I just got through installing a cloaking device......
  3. Where is the fun in that? Besides the only cat to blame is the old cat behind the wheel. And there is a thought that really blows my mind.......sharing the roads with Paul... I imagine that you can still smell that patina. Jeff
  4. Again......IMO Paul's recipe is not the best way to start off a new project. Jared you will want to keep yours internal combustion........Paul seems to think external combustion is an acceptable way to create patina. We all know different. Have fun with your new project. Looks to be similar to what I started with. Jeff
  5. I would be surprised if we had more than a dozen. Come on Hank we need the trucks to show up. Jeff
  6. Cool. Hopefully we will have a few guys with their trucks too. Jeff
  7. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate and just be overcast. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Jeff
  8. Nor anyone else who knows how he got it to look that way. I think I can safely say that his methods are a bit too extreme for most of us. Jeff
  9. I bet that all it does is deform or perhaps leak unless it already has corrosion or some kind of defect. That thin wall stuff will stretch quite a bit before it bursts. If it does burst look closely there will be a defect where it lets go. Jeff
  10. Paul......tell Jared why you had to "rebuild" it a second time. The truth and nothing but the truth. Maybe he can guess from the name "El Scorcho" and the very unique "patina" Jeff
  11. Yep....watch out is putting it nicely. I am kinda a fan of true patina myself. But what Paul has going on is something else...... What ever you do don't use his recipe for Pilothouse Flambeau.....
  12. I prefer to think of them as old beasts of burden. And I am pretty certain you get the best out of them when you leave the gender out. The truck in question sounds like a good one......have fun with it....no matter what you think it is. Jeff..
  13. Knock on wood.......another month has gone by and the old beast is still performing it's duties. It has taken some time to get used to driving it. But it is runnin' good and not making any funny noises so I guess it is all going to work as planned. More or less. The wipers could use a bit of help now that we have something to test them with. So I will focus on that over the next month. I have another wiper motor just about ready to swap in. We will see if this one is a little stronger. Also I want to see if I can adapt a better wiper blade. The original style arm is not exactly state of the art. Jeff
  14. Paul.......Why am I not surprised? You know have not really earned your keep until you pulled a really nasty one out..in pieces....and without drilling a hole in the back of the block. Go hang your head in shame.
  15. Well we all have our own view of things....that is for sure. I know I would be more interested in seeing your camper than almost any car. Jeff
  16. You could try the plastic polish made for convertible top windows. Jeff
  17. I will have to check it out. I have always enjoyed his movies. Jeff
  18. Has anyone found a new replacement switch for this application? I am in the process of reworking a spare wiper motor I have and would like to fit a new switch as part of this repair to my truck. Thanks in advance. Jeff
  19. I was going to make that my New Years resolution......... but ...but...but....it is just too easy.
  20. Don; It is 9am 1/17/16 if it isn't pouring down rain. Just a casual gab and gawk and a short run to Knowlwoods for burgers. Don't expect a car show or judging as that ain't my style. Jeff
  21. OK OK........Halon is out. It was meant as a joke. It is the old cat and El Scorcho though........so some serious precautions need to be in place. Jeff
  22. You keep blaming that poor critter ...... when all the time it is the old cat that drives the truck who was to blame. I hope at the very least your smoke detectors work.
  23. Have you had a Halon system installed in the house garage?
  24. Mark; Yes I allowed for this. The opening in the metal plate I made is quite a bit larger than the tank neck. I made the seal from 1/8" thick rubber so there is some give where it seals. Jeff
  25. Well......mine had evenly spaced holes for screws in the cab floor. Looked like they were there from the factory. I just traced their locations on the metal plate I made. Works well to provide a positive seal in a location that could be a problem otherwise. I suppose there is more than one way to deal with this but mine is easily removed for access and maintenance. Jeff
