I didn't want to sound totally negative but that material isn't really up to the job. Reminds me of a similar effort I tried many moons ago using EMT. It seemed like a good idea but fell way short of the mark in the end.

I don't know how much I speak for others but this group has evolved to be more inclusive quite a bit since I found it about 7 years ago. One of the real strengths of this group is that it populated by folks that truly care about helping each other out. I am pretty sure that if you ask questions about any older Mopar product here..... no one is going to be offended and you will get the info or answers you are looking for. Also as more C series owners participate here the series specific data will grow. Jeff

RZ-50 is available at Home Depot here. I like it as there is no silicone or oil in it. There are others but it is best to read the ingredients if you are going to use it for a variety of things.

When mine start to get this way my go to stuff is the dry lube spray. Makes all the difference. Try it you'll like it!

If you spray some dry lube in these "tracks" you may be surprised by how much smoother they operate. Jeff

I'd be interested to hear how this works out. This is one area that a lot of progress has been made in since the old B & B's were made. Just not sure if the siamese ports and the original manifold will minimize the potential gains.

Tom; I dont think it is all that critical. I cleaned mine up by hand and it works fine 10k miles later. Caveat is there were no chatter marks....so I felt good with the hand clean up. Jeff

Stands to reason. Sump level would be falling if you had a cracked block type oil leak. And you haven't mentioned low oil pressure.

Right on! Glad to see you enjoying Dolly. They really are pretty great trucks. I know I told you this before but The Adventures of Dolly Dodge were my biggest inspiration during the 4 year long build of my truck. I have more than 10,000 trouble free miles on it now. Jeff

Nice truck and welcome to the group. Try spraying the leaf springs with some type of lube. I use PB Blaster Corrosion Stop and it made a huge difference in ride quality. Those old springs are probably frozen up with rust......... Jeff

Paul; The good news is most of the most objectionable noise you are hearing will go away once you turn off fox news..........

Paul; If you can cruise relatively comfortably at 65 or 70 then I think you are good to go. I have been using mine daily for the last 2 1/2 years and am very happy with it. As Mark points out it isn't going to drive like a Lexus but that is OK. If you need more sound proofing then by all means put more in. I doubt if anyone has put more into this aspect of one of these trucks than I. And I will tell you there is a lot of quiet to be gained but you have to look at more than just a off the shelf kit. There are several areas in these cabs that can be treated to gain a quieter ride. The area under the seat.....the back of the cab....the backside of the dash......the steering column. They may not seem like it but they all contribute to the sound level in the cab and they can all be quieted down. One example of the extent I went to was to wrap the steering column with foam plumbing insulation. I don't have a decibel meter but there was a slight reduction of noise and guess what? It all adds up. Treating most of this is not expensive.....it just takes a bit of time and thought. Jeff

Uh huh. And they have a nice smooth quiet ride. I run em at 32 psi on my 3/4 ton. Have owned several sets of them over the years and IMO for the money they are a good value. There is a Michelin I like better on trucks this size but it is twice the cost.

The tires you removed look like Wranglers. I have them on my truck and they are definitely not noisy. Of course they haven't been BBQ'd either. Maybe the added grill marks are noisy?

I had a welder/fabricator buddy reinforce my Pilothouse cab specifically for seat belt mounts prior to paint. This probably doesn't help you........but maybe you could add some bolt in reinforcement plates?

Yes more than likely it is the head gasket. I am curious ....... what shop in Baldwin Park knows these engines?
