  1. I bought a set of Hastings rings on ebay for $20.00 for my 218. Back in the day Hastings were always good rings to use if your cylinder walls were less than perfect.
  2. That is one coooool suit man. Reminds me of a book of "Bop Fables" I have somewhere. "Once upon a time in the land of Oo Bop She Bam There lived a crazy little chick named Goldilocks, One day Goldy's mother said "you can sit the next set out in the back yard if you promise not to goof off and get lost". And that's all I can remember. Got to look for that book.
  3. I've been running a 6 volt overdrive solenoid on 12 volts for 3 years with no problems. I don't believe 6 volts would trigger a 12 volt solenoid.
  4. Geez, some of you guys have, or had, some pretty impressive jobs. I spent the first 15 years of my working career as a parts man for an auto parts store and then 30 years as a bus driver for the Toronto Transit Commission. Just started my 9th year of retirement which has turned out to be something I'm really good at.
  5. I have an Edgerton re-ground cam in my 218 with the same specs as Don's and so far so good. I replaced the valve springs with a new set of stock springs. As Don says unless you are really going to buzz the engine they are all that is required.
  6. I often wondered how you did dat. Now I nose.
  7. Merry Christmas and a happy healthy new year to you all.
  8. That could sure change the "GO Fast" industry in a hurry. Quite a car!
  9. I run 2 B&B's on a Fenton Manifold with a dual action fuel pump and they don't leak. When I rebuilt them I spent a lot of time with a sheet of emery paper attached to a flat surface so that I could make sure the mating surfaces on the carb top and the bowl were flat. It took some elbow grease and a little light hammer work but they ended up flat and even after being apart a few times and reusing the same gaskets they don't leak.
  10. Glad yer back Allan. Have you got your skates sharpened cuz the canal she is a freezin.
  11. While looking through the latest issue of "Old Autos" a fine Canadian newspaper for the likes of us car people I ran across an ad from a chrome plater who has an exterior chrome package for 46 to 48 Chryslers for sale. No price listed but if anyone is interested the Canadian phone number is 1 800 288 5530 or U.S. 1 800 268 9935. With the Canuck buck well below the greenback it might be a deal for someone. Good luck Cheers Gary in cold Toronto
  12. Don't 39 Plymouths have a nice teardrop shaped tailight or am i thinking of something else?
  13. Do that James it's a great site with all kinds of guys from the left coast on it.
  14. Nice car James. Are you on the Canadian Rodder forum cuz I think I saw that car on there a while back but can no longer find the post. Cheers Gary in Toronto
  15. About 40 years ago I was in the auto parts business and one of my favourite customers would always say when asked what engine the car had that he was working on "it's a sudden six," the esses usually came out as a whistle. When I got my P18 and joined this great forum it was a no brainer what my handle would be. Oh ya his favourite name for me was peel head.
  16. Think I met that fellow on the weekend. We were at a big car show in Port Elgin Ontario and this chap was quite interested in my P18 and the speed equipment on the engine. He started telling me about all the stuff he had in his yard which was in Chesley. Chesley is a short hop from Port Elgin which is on Lake Huron but is at least a 2 1/2 hour drive from Toronto.
  17. My dad had an auto parts store in the 50's and 60's that I worked at and we sold Automatic Radios for several years. They worked fairly well and were reasonably priced as I recall.
  18. Do yourself and everybody else on the road a favour and replace the brake shoes with new ones. You will never safely reglue the lining back on and if the lining has been soaked with anything it should be changed.
  19. I should have mentioned that my system also has a cross-over ahead of the mufflers to mellow out the sound. My car sounds much like blueskies does in his clip. Cheers Gary
  20. Are they not metric lines for brakes on them "forrin" cars?
  21. Hi Andy, I have 30" Smithy's on my p18. I'm running the set up you hope to and the mufflers sound great. A nice mellow tone a bit on the loud side but not annoyingly so. Cheers Gary in Toronto
  22. Has this car not been flogged on the net before? Wasn't there some question about it being legitimate or am I thinking about another vehicle or am I thinking at all??? Cheers to all on a lovely fall evening in Toronto Gary
  23. Very nice looking ride. Pontiac tail lights are cool.
  24. Mine leaked badly when I got the car 4 years ago so i filled it with chassis grease and no more leak and the car steers fine.
