  1. In my opinion it's price gouging plain and simple on the part of the oil company's. Want prices to come down then stop buying fuel. Once they have more supply than demand the price will drop.
  2. Just drove home and gas is $1.23 per litre ($4.92 per U.S.gal.) by morning it's expected to be $1.30 per litre or $5.20 per U.S. gal. The last time we had a hurricane in Toronto was Hazel in 1954. Keep safe all of you in Ike's path.
  3. Take the top off first and have a look inside. Mine was full of crap and once I cleaned it up and greased the inside it worked fine. There's really not much that can go wrong with them. Good luck
  4. Hi James, Yes I made the spacers because the studs in the manifold could not be removed and were not long enough to accomodate the cab and the Geo. Asche linkage. As far as torque is concerned I can't say I notice a great deal of difference until third gear then it really pulls hard.
  5. Robin, have you tried a bearing company over there? Bearings are usually fairly easy to come by as the same bearing may be used for many different applications. If the part number is obsolete they can measure the bearing and come up with a replacement.
  6. ewheeler what part of The Great White North are you in. I just rebuilt my engine and had no problem getting parts. I'm in Toronto.
  7. I was considering changing the to modern u joints in my P18 when lo and behold a 51 Plymouth that my sons father in law was scrapping had a retro driveshaft in it. One new U joint and I was in business. This driveshaft had been in the 51 for many moons so could be one of the units Marty was talking about. I'd rather be lucky than good.
  8. I hooked my B&B's up with a combination of rubber and steel lines through a fuel block.
  9. Allan, Good luck with the job search. Ottawa is one of my favorite places to visit. Before I die I hope to go for a skate on the canal. Gary in Toronto
  10. Petty's was a business coupe. The club coupe has a back seat. My 49 is a club coupe.
  11. Greg I'd take a couple. Sounds like a great idea to me.
  12. The Wallyword one I have is a 1950 but the body is way out of proportion especially the rear end. I have seen this diecast on ebay quite often. If there is a decent resin body available I would rebody my diecast.
  13. My kind of ride, sharp but subtle.
  14. When I was having problems with my P18 a while back I hooked up a pressure guage to my stock but new double action fuel pump and it read 3 lbs. You have to watch when installing an electric pump that it is for a carbureted engine and not a fuel injected one. Big difference in pressure.
  15. There definately are 7/16" reach plugs as I did quite a bit of research on them. I agree tha Auto Lite 306's are 3/8." The plugs I'm using, Champ 854, were H10 in the old numbering system which were for flathead Fords.
  16. Thanks Bob. The push button cuts out the O.D. One toggle is for the fog lights the other for an interior light. The red light is the exciter for the alternator. If you need an explanation for the exciter don't ask me.
  17. I wish! It's just a cheap tach that my son took out of an old truck he had.
  18. Thank you all for the nice comments, it makes the project worthwhile. The air cleaners are from a local guy who has a business making things out of spun aluminium. He is also a hot rodder. I think he said the cleaners were meant for some kind of dual carb set-up on SBC's. I used the bases from a couple of the small air cleaners that are popular so they would sit on the B&B's. I drilled two holes opposite one another in the top of the carbs then made a couple of bales out of some stiff wire, coathangers, 1/4" threaded rod and long nuts then bolted them on. As they say "Bob's your uncle."
  19. Thank you Dennis.
  20. This is a shot of the new interior. The car gets a lot of looks at shows and when driving it around. Thank goodness I finally got to post some photos on the forum even if it was the hard way. Cheers Gary in Toronto
  21. Here is the car that goes with the engine. It has disc brakes, dropped spindles, R10 overdrive etc., etc. The car was purchased by David Ingles Jr. of Rivesville W. VA. from Snodgrass Sales and Service. It was delivered on July 6, 1949. In the late 80's or early 90's it was owned by Floyd Priest of Fairmont W. VA. Apparently Floyd passed away and the car was stored for about 12 years after which it was bought at an auction by a fellow from the Pittsburg area. He owned it for a couple of years then put it on ebay where I bought it. The car basically looks the way it did when Mr. Priest owned it except for a new interior, mice ate the old one while in storage. I will have to do another post for the interior shot cuz can't seem to do more than 1 photo per post. Stay tuned.
  22. Well to be perfectly honest I have no idea what a pop up blocker is. I went back and tried the way I'd done it before by clicking on "img code" then in the forum post right clicked on "paste" and there was the photo. Why it didn't work when I tried it before I have no idea. Thanks to all who offered help, one way or the other we got there. Now I'm going to see if I can do it again.
  23. Well I have managed to post one photo. I'll try again later to post more. Right now heading out to a cruise night.
  24. Marty, what cylinder head are you using? I recently upgraded the plugs in my Edgy head and upon measuring the thread length discovered it was 7/16" and as I wanted a slightly hotter plug than the 306 Autolites I had been using ended up with #854 Champions. The Autolite # is 216. I'm using Pertronics ignition so set the gap at .040 which is .005 larger than suggested. So far so good.
  25. Man these ideas all sound great until I try to do them. Once I have the URL address highlighted and swing back to the forum, click on the mountain/sun icon all I get is a flat boink from the computer and no image. I know I'm not good at this computer stuff but I did photos once before and it wasn't that hard cept now it won't work. To be honest although I really appreciate some of the instructions you guys have provided they might as well be written in Chinese cuz I don't understand the terminology. I'm going to bed now cuz my head hurts. Goodnight to all.
