  1. Remote control calipers?
  2. A cruddy picture of my engine tag, along with a quote from the Plymouth judging guide about these tags, is here:
  3. Then phosphoric acid, then rinse (really well), then dry, then prime and paint.
  4. It's true that the rear window on the 46-48 business coupe for these three lines interchanges. I searched for a couple years and never found one. Club coupe rear window is different than the 3-window window.
  5. To wrap this up, the bushing I received was about a half inch longer than the original but otherwise matched. The machine shop cut it off and pressed it in and the pedal is back on the car.
  6. Yes, I just received one from them. I came here to post that info and saw your post.
  7. That's not a bad idea. I'll look to see how much other stuff I would need to disconnect to do that. It does move a bit so maybe it will slide right out.
  8. Thank you. That's what I measured also, but I wanted a double-check. The reason is that I have the clutch pedal off and need to replace the bushing and I'm sure the machine shop will ask the diameter of the shaft. I'm trying to avoid removing the master cylinder from the car.
  9. Does anyone have a reference that states the diameter of the brake and clutch pedal shaft, part number 871975? The particular application is a '42 Plymouth but I think the same shaft was used on other years. Thx.
  10. Here is what I concluded for the 46-48 straight eight. enginePaint.pdf
  11. Here is one from a 1942 Plymouth. I can take some more if you think it would be helpful.
  12. I'm just dropping a note to express my appreciation for this forum, and especially for how it is moderated. I frequent another forum because of another car I own, and I feel like I have take a shower after visiting it.
  13. Thx Greg. That was my first thought too, but they are very different from the ones on my '42 so I wasn't sure.
  14. Go to http://www.pwchryslerclub.org/resources.html and download the sheet metal and body cross reference. It is very helpful.
  15. Can someone identify these parts? Thx.
  16. Thanks. I painted the trunk floor last night so can start putting it back together now. Tips received on this forum helped make this happen.
  17. I'm in the same boat as your son. I regret selling my first car, a 1970 Barracuda. After I started making some money, I wanted it back but found they are too expensive. That is how I ended up with the 1942 Plymouth instead, and now this Fury! Not Barracudas, but I am enjoying the green interior of the Fury because the Barracuda was also green.
  18. I doubt she is still around, but she seemed to have had intimate knowledge of a 1941. Unfortunately it is a 1941 Dodge.
  19. Thanks guys! My wife and kids don't seem to appreciate it. I figured people here would,
  20. I've been working on the floor of my Fury all winter. I just put down the topcoat last weekend. I'm pretty happy with the result. Here are a couple before and after pics.
  21. Paint it is.Me: Some primers absorb water and must be top coated. Is that true for your primer sealer, or can I use it as a topcoat? I painted a car floor with it and want to put the rug right on top, without topcoating, unless the primer will absorb water. Duplicolor: The Primer Sealer will prevent it from absorbing water, so you can top coat it. It is not designed to be used as a stand alone product. Me: Is that because of UV or moisture or something else? The particular application is a car floor, so it wouldn’t be exposed to UV.Duplicolor: It is designed to be top coated. It will not hold up well as a top coat.
  22. If the plastic is present and not too damaged, you might be able to match the original look with water transfer printing.
  23. I just talked to the auto paint store that sells the product. They said the primer/sealer is a watertight sealer and top coating is unnecessary. They described it as containing a type of resin that seals out moisture and it being a sort of primer/paint combo. It is not the same thing as base primer/filler. Perhaps I will paint, just to be 105 percent sure, but it appears unnecessary.
  24. Do you think it is OK to paint the floor with Duplicolor primer sealer and put the carpet on top of that, without topcoating the primer? I know that some primers absorb water, but I think the primer/sealer varieties do not. I can't find the answer on the can or at the Duplicolor website. Thx.
  25. I went with the white gas.
