  1. DonaldSmith, Did you ever proceed with your conversion to bear claw latches? Or were you able to resolve your existing door latch issues through cleaning & lubrication?
  2. Hello wendleburger, If you are still out there, we'd be interested in pictures of the conversion, especially of the linkage between the new latches and the outer door handle. Thanks in advance!
  3. Thanks Mark, fantastic job as always. I kid you not, your videos are more watchable (and entertaining) than 99% of the car-related junk on cable TV.
  4. Hello Mark, Don't know if you are still looking for the hood brace, but there is one on Ebay right now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1946-1947-1948-PLYMOUTH-P15-HOOD-BRACE-MOPAR-MINT-RARE-/220778355018?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33676a594a Good luck!
  5. Hello, Doctor Dial Tone Thanks for posting. How bad was the traffic getting in and out of HMB? Highways 92 & 1 can get pretty gnarly, especially on sunny days. And, by any chance, do you/did you work for Pac Bell/AT&T at one time? Just curious...
  6. Thanks Ed! Can anyone recommend a shut-off valve? Does it need to be application-specific, or could I just use a generic 5/8" automotive-style valve? Should it be mounted to the upper or lower hose? Or does it matter? Thanks again.
  7. Hello Folks, My 47 Plymouth has a heater installed on the passenger side; don't know if it came that way from the factory or was installed later. While driving, the interior of the car gets really warm, even with the fan off and all of the vents on the heater unit closed. Upon closer inspection I noticed the the top portion of the heater unit (which is not readily visible) is completely open, with no way of closing it off. This would explain the elevated temperature in the car. I've worked on many 60's & 70's heater systems, but I'm not familiar with a system this old. Is that top portion of the heater unit supposed to be open like that? Should there be some way to restrict or completely turn off the heat when it is not needed? Or should there be a shutoff valve on the heater hoses in the engine compartment? Thanks in advance.
  8. Hello Paul, Sorry for your loss, glad that you are OK. Cars & toys can be replaced. Let us know how things go with the insurance company. Chin up!
  9. Beautiful. I work in SF; TI is one of my favorite locations. We have some equipment out there and I love service calls to TI on a sunny day - the views are fantastic.
  10. The car looks great. Is that Treasure Island?
  11. Thanks Don, I appreciate the clarification.
  12. Hello folks, I know this is an old thread, but can someone clarify this statement? Does this mean that a P15 is designed so that the radiator can be mounted either on the inside or the outside of the radiator support? Thanks in advance.
  13. Ed, Came out GREAT! Let us the know the results...!
  14. Don't forget the Lucas "Prince of Darkness" Electrics (standard on all British Leyland vehicles of that era), which will shake any notion of engineering logic and dependability to the core.
  15. EEEK! Run Forrest Run!
  16. X5 - ditto ditto - are you sure you want this guy working on your car? By the way, welcome to the Forum!
  17. Hello Mark, Just a quick thank you for your time and efforts. Based on the precise editing, structured pacing, and high production values of your videos, you must devote an awful lot of time to their creation. And even though my Plymouth is a 47, I still appreciate and enjoy your adventures in automotive rebuilding. Thanks again!
  18. Excellent - thanks for the picture!
  19. Hello Folks, On the P-15 brake pedal, is there an adjustment to limit the pedal return travel? If so, where is it located? Thanks in advance.
  20. Funny you mention I-75. My brother and I grew up in Lincoln Park, MI just south of Detroit. We were reminiscing just last night about when that freeway went in, sometime around 1968, a couple of blocks from our house. We'd spend hours riding our bikes on it before it was opened. It was great, like a private freeway just for us kids. Unfortunately, that damn freeway cut Lincoln Park in half, and it never was quite the same after it opened. I just checked Zilla last night and the house we grew up in sold for $12,000 last year.
  21. Visited the DC area last year - the roads in Virginia seemed particularly well-kept. Arizona also seems to be above-average, at least in Metro Phoenix & Scottsdale.
  22. +1 Agreed, especially in the SF Bay Area. Brutal.
  23. +1 I have the Technostalgia lights on my 47 and I love 'em.
  24. Hello Folks, Great article in this month's Hot Rod Magazine about a 48 Plymouth owned by Glenn Dodd, owner of Carolina Rod Shop in Piedmont, S.C. Here is the article: Here is a link to his homepage:http://carolinarodshop.com/ Make sure you check out the in-car video of Glenn running the Plymouth through the Autocross at a Goodguys event. Great stuff - I hope I'm having that much fun when I'm 73...!
