  1. I thought these were the correct bench seat mounts for a 53 Plymouth. Are they placed correctly or should they be reversed. Something is not correct. Per chance did they come out of my truck?
  2. Andy, I'm going to get new spring washers tomorrow. The bolts should stay tight. TKS. Tims explanation was helpful also. TKS.
  3. I have an EZ kit on my Suburban and a 98 Cherokee master cylinder. That unit has a multi wire plug and as does the kit. I like the simple in line pressure switch, so I used it. It has no relationship to the turn signals. Completely separate harnesses.
  4. I constantly check the top bolts on my carb. They tend to loosen. I would replace the gasket, but make certain the top of the bowl and the bottom of the lid are clean and square. JMHO
  5. that is next, new panels first.
  6. Dave, just to relieve someone's tension, that I cut corners, had a pair of rocker crowns formed today. This one replaces the two pieces you saw yesterday. These two and another piece for my shifter mount cost me $20.00. Money well spent in my opinion.
  7. Update: I'm making great progress on the shifter, basically cosmetics now. Also starting final metal work on the floor. I am totaling removing all areas where the material is shot or even marginal. I will replace that rocker crown with new metal. The piece on there now was experimental, also galvanized which is not recommended.
  8. 1940 cars were the last of the Art Decco designed cars. The war change all that and in 1946 they returned with austere designs.
  9. 1. Check the screws at the top of the column that hold the shifter arm. If these are loose, you cannot adjust the bottom linkage to work. 2. When you lift the lever for R - 1 at the bottom there is a yoke that lifts the selector. The shaft has a collar which that yoke lifts. The inside edges build up with iron hard oil/dirt. When that dirt gets wet, the yoke slips out of the collar and thus no R-1. It took me days to figure that out. I soaked that dirt and cleaned the collar, bazinga, all still works. 3. The linkage adjustments are approximate, if all is tight and clean the shift is very forgiving. Best to you.
  10. That conclusion is **************? It's also cyber bulling.
  11. Todd, why the Feds, they don't consider facts, and automotive would be way beyond their capabilities!
  12. Who picks and saves?
  13. While searching on the net, in a set of Borg-Warner transmission pictures I found a picture of the first floor mounted shifter I fabricated. Question: how did that get there? The shifter shown is in a very rough stage. I abandoned that design because it won't work on an OD transmission.
  14. Now working on shifter handle, re positioning and reach. Will weld it together tomorrow and test the mechanics. Today was research day. I discovered that all leather in cars is processed and all is dyed per designer specks. The existing color can be removed and the material can be redyed to a new need.
  15. My bride is from California, any thing about that that you don't understand? LOL
  16. My brother and I in 1958 drove a 50 Plymouth non stop from Western Nebraska to central California and back. Either our bottoms were tougher or our minds weren't.
  17. " Lost, cat, he may be moving south with the birds.
  18. There re a lot of comfortable cars, our 2008 Honda Accord is one of them. We drove to Oakland, CA airport and back today. Was tired at the end of seven hours on the road, but not beat up. It's a great car.
  19. I really like that two door sedan, and of course those coupes are special. TKS for the pics.
  20. An example of repurposing.
  21. The Vette is nice but I would prefer the Ford. Shame to lose it!
  22. I have a 218 engine, a standard three on the tree, and 3:73 rear axle in my B3B truck. When properly tuned I seldom shift to 2nd. When I have to, I always recheck the timing and points.
  23. Does that look correct? I didn't do it that way. I have both cushions between the frame and the mount, the pic is from the net. The mount and sleeve impressions indicate the cushions are together. I've misplaced my manual, so can't check there. See below: so the picture is correct. Mine are in loosely, easy to correct. So then the cushions, top and under the frame mount, allow the torquing / twitching of the body to work with the frame mount mount!
  24. It was time. I never drove this car, but these should be of great help. They are going in today.
  25. Many of the forum members from Wisconsin drink beer. You might start there. LOL Welcome.
