Thanks guys, very, very helpful information for novice mechanics like me. My exhaust system will be very tight from now on. So much to learn and so little time to learn it. My leg is healing.

It seems , to me, that trucks, unlike cars of the same age are engine noisy and have a strong engine smell. How did they do that in the cars but not in the trucks. That aroma is the main reason my wife does not like to ride in my truck.

Update: Stitches and staples were removed on Wednesday and a new cast. But I’m required to stay with the wheel chair for another four weeks. So I’m trying to figure out what to do during that time.

I visited with this Desoto owner when we were in Winnipeg five years ago. His back yard was the river that runs through Winnipeg. His cars were near perfect. I cannot recall his name.

Good advise. Thankyou. Will not remove the cab. We have delayed moving east. I’m focusing on completing those projects. Was on track when I broke my leg. It is healing nicely, just have to wait out the healing process. -
If memory serves me correct, only 16 bolts are required to do a PH frame off. What that then allows one to do is raise the chassis and most of the work is at bench height. This eliminates most “on the concrete’ work.

I cheated by installing a car starter with push button on the dash. No regrets. The foot push rod remains for some future owner if he wishes stock. -

Physical therapist canceled the walking frame, So knee shooter will be ordered. Surgery next Thursday. Will put in a metal brace. Enjoy your day, be careful.

I have an R11. What is required to put it behind my 218 engine.

The OD itself is the same over all brands. But the transmission case must match the engine. I think yours is a Ford version. really difficult to adapt that input shaft and trans case to a mopar clutch housing.
I've never tried it nor seen anyone else try. Just to many hurdles to clear. Better to find one intended for a Mopar, but they will be R10 versions. I've heard rumors that some r11 models were used in the very late 50s in bigger cars, but have never seen one.

Broken leg update: x ray showed a long complete break of the finial. So surgery next week Thursday to put in a metal support. Then six weeks of non use of that leg. Yesterday they showed me that the ankle was dislocated also. So they reset that and set the broken bone. That was not an experience to write home about. I really appreciate the thoughtful encouraging responses from this forum, thank you all. Photo is the new wrap. I just found this, will have the Dr set the cast so there is room to use this. A true game changer.

One usually has an accident in an unexpected place due to some tool out of place, like an extension cord.

My shop is 300 ft from the house and I'm often there working alone.” I’m going to get an inexpensive phone and do the above. Thanks Ken, invaluable advice for me. With significant hearing loss, I enjoy being alone, this could be a life saver.

I was trying to removed the tie rods on this frame. They were so tight I could not break them with the wrench I had, so gave the bolts a good soaking with PB blaster, turned to go home, lost my balance and fell. My foot got caught in the frame and for a time I was trapped, Finally got the foot loose and walked to the car and drove home. I think I will always have someone with me from now on. I’m feeling somewhat better this morning. I have some really fun projects but not for a while now.

I was getting a part from an old vw pan. I tuned to leave, lost my balance and fell. My foot got caught in the frame and I was trapped for s small time. Freed myself, drove home and on Friday went to emergency to have it checked out. Broke the bone down near the ankle. So I am laid up for a time.

My wife and an interior decorator are remodeling the kitchen. Granite comes next week. Married for 38 years, congratulations. We have been married for 62 years. Young people do NOT identify.
