The castle faces in, but the pin still goes through the slots in the nut. Your still having full thread count on the axle shaft , and the nut cannot turn at all to back off.
-
I just reversed my stock nut, been doing just fine for last 7-8 years, and just did my king pins last week and nothing looks like it’s wearing or showing signs of moving when I had everything apart.

Those aren't removable pieces, and I don't believe anyone makes any patch panels, however you can buy an entire box side from a few suppliers.

Roxanne - She don't have to put on the red light.

Actually molasses and water mixed works amazing as a rust remover, my hot rod building buddy uses it all the time. I went new hardware...unless your going concourse build...nobody will notice -
S-10 Chassis for B1B body install
NiftyFifty replied to doogan's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
There was a company making the mounts and instructions on doing that very swap, you would have to search the forum to find it..I really can't recall what they were called. S-10 is pretty much the go to swap for a lot of vehicles, but Bill is right, the wheel width looks funny, and a lot of time they also tend to end up with the wheels not centred in the wheel well from swaps I've seen. Dakota is the best option for fit and finish..mopar parts aside -
Need help identifying this electrical part
NiftyFifty replied to Rjpond's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Looks like a back woods starter solenoid to me...some aftermarket or one meant for many purposes....definitely a replacement item on your list. -
To goop or not to goop that is the question
NiftyFifty replied to tanda62's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
I can’t say I ever agree with grease on gaskets, it makes them swell and deteriorate IMO. Goop no...proper gasket adhesive yes...just a bit of permatex aviation gasket maker on the pan then the cork, then ultra black silicone where the cork overlaps the valley gaskets. Sometimes I will put the gasket maker around the bolt holes on the engine side of the gasket...but a big key to no leaks is to make sure the pan surface is flat, so don’t be scared to hammer it a bit As for the timing cover...just the aviation gasket maker on the cover side and maybe again around the bolt holes -
Exhaust gases in coolant test?
NiftyFifty replied to Fernando Mendes's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Uhhhhh....no....that's the coolant system shifting air out and water in, it will also bubble when the thermostat is open and cycling -
Floorboards - How Do These Two Panels Come Out?
NiftyFifty replied to FlashBuddy's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Do yourself a big favour and put some dense foam weatherstripping between then before re-install...saves a lot of noise issues- 11 replies

Floorboards - How Do These Two Panels Come Out?

Ya those bolts shouldn’t matter...be gentle with that switch, that bakalite is pretty fragile. Good luck- 11 replies

Really depends on what your plans are, if you plan to shift away from complete stock, then a reproduction harness will end up not being really all that helpful. I re-wired my truck twice, first time a basic 12 volt conversion and the second time to accommodate the many many additions to the electrical system, and it was just easier to start from scratch again, then to use what I had already done. You may consider ditching the cloth wire and going to cloth tape for a roughly "vintage" look, with a huge savings in wiring costs. I got my last cloth tape from Johnny Laws...very happy with it

Floorboards - How Do These Two Panels Come Out?
NiftyFifty replied to FlashBuddy's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
I might be blanking, but that doesn't really look like the way the panels are laid out...but it has been awhile...take every bolt you can find out, they are lipped to cover each other up, so you somewhat have to loosen everything up to remove....possibly someone glued/silicones them to stop raddles....just keep lightly prying- 11 replies

Floorboard Metal Repair How To
NiftyFifty replied to FlashBuddy's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
No chance any donor trucks close? That’s #1 in my book, replace and when not possible repair...and if your worried about welding it, you can use Por 15 and dip fibreglass sheeting into it and repair the spots that way, it’s worked for me a time or two and is very very strong and durable repair. A cheap mig welder can be a bad learning tool and cause more pain then joy...if your not welding with a gas mig, you will burn up that old metal instantly -
As long as your prepared for all the fabrication work, you will loose both your brake and clutch pedals, your emergency brake, and still have to mock up a system for motor mounts, as there is nothing there to work with. There are no lack of 218 parts, I’m not sure what Napa carries, but there are very few parts you can’t get, including all the internals, gaskets, and water pumps. You can also get performance parts, or just look for a direct replacement 265 and start out with a few more ponies, without the headache of a swap. Slants can be cool, but in my opinion swapping an engine in these 48-53 Trucks is a massive job and much more involved then a lot of swaps.
-
Sure a pile of work for another engine not really roaring with power, I’m with Plymouth...the work is the exact same to go to the magnum V6 or even V8, and then no performance parts are really needed, and lots of parts available
-
Thought maybe I would get the truck out of the back shop to start my new king pins....forget it...I quit, time to move to Mexico and lay on the beach this is is tomorrow’s forecast
-
Well it’s close to -40 here with the wind...only cruise I’m on is between the couch and fridge

Securing a vintage license plate from theft
NiftyFifty replied to WarriorDog's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Buy tamper proof style bolts, use a crush nut on the back with red locktite...but they your likely to have to drill it if you need it off -
If you need a video, then a rebuild may not be in your interest to tackle alone, a shop manual is what your really going to need.

Assigning a value to a Pilot House
NiftyFifty replied to RonaldC's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Auctions are pretty fickle and IMO don’t represent the value of much, they can go either way, all it takes is poor marketing and nobody shows and value is low, or two people with more money then brains duke it out and go way high, I witnessed this a couple of summers ago on a 67 Dodge 1/2 ton selling for $25,000 bone stock with a seized motor and needing a complete resto. Look around online, you will see a general selection of trucks, best way to value something...sell it, but start high. You can always come down on price, can’t go back up after. -
You'd be amazed how little room you have to work with in both locations, especially under the dash, as you have only one spot to mount the actual steering column too...not saying it can't be done, but I have it a lot of thought and measure before I went my route...what we really need to find as a group is a power steering box that would work with rear steer...if I ever do, I'll go back to a box, rather then my rack.

That was the issue, there was no supposed to be no thinning of this paint, mix procedure was just paint and hardening agent, the hardner was available in different temperature ranges, which I followed, but it literally was drying the second it left the tip and I adjusted and test patterned my butt off, without and different results. My friend who was a painter for a dealership and now a custom hotrod builder did my re-paint with the same results...he just ended up painting it so thick it was running, to keep the dry spray down. my previous tremclade job was almost better
-
Not sure there are any options for that in the limited room with these trucks, it’s somewhat like the electric assist

LOL....I have taken so much stufffrom other guys on here, I would be in the same category...so I don't fault anyone for ideas here Pflam This was my original post on it I think, but I messed up the year I took the part off...I had one from a 90 and it was too big to fit, but I think I fixed that later in the discussion. Hopefully the pics help out and what I had to do
