  1. It looks like a 48 B1C to me because of the stainless grill bars and the long bed. And Yup...if it has 15" wheels with a 5 on 5 lug pattern it's a 3/4 ton.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260183744343&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:MOTORS:1123 And here's a SILLY auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120185614299&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:MOTORS:1123
  3. NOPE, but I know a guy that will.
  4. Thanks Oldmopar. I emailed him yesterday and am waiting for a reply. The floor boards are about 50% gone. Any suggestions ? I need the removable one too under the pedals.
  5. The first thing I'm going to have to do is replace the floor boards front and rear. It's a Flintstones car now. Once that's done I'll probably do the body and paint myself and soup up the engine with a 2 barrel and dual exhaust headers. Oh....and then there's the interior and the wiring and glass and.......... I guess I'll refurbish it and make a dependable driver. Anyone need a 51 or 52 Suburban project. I'll be selling some cheap now.
  6. Thanks for the info Greg. If you look at the second table he shows a list of Dodge truck engine numbering that seems to be more accurate. It does show the M23 or M230 as being a 59 Dodge truck 230. No H.P. rating though. What ever the rating is it's gotta be substantially more than the original engine.
  7. That's one fine lookin Burb!
  8. I got this Suburban over the weekend and was pleased to find out that it has a very quiet and smooth running flat 6 engine in it. The engine number is M230 ####. I think it's a 59 Dodge truck 6 but can't seem to find a listing for that engine or it's h.p. rating. Anybody have a listing for it?
  9. Any leads would be appreciated on where I can find some better grill parts for this 49 Suburban?
  10. Thanks alot Don. Lisa Evans
  11. Even though I agree with your idea Don I'm shocked buy it Oh wait....my wife just said a shock collar hooked to the eBay bid button would be better.
  12. I don't know much about that power wagon yet Jerry other than it was used as a tow truck in it's past life in Nevada City,CA. I haven't even had a chance to see if she'll start up yet. I really like the shape of the home made cab.
  13. Uh Oh !!!!! Damn eBay !!!!! This just landed today.
  14. Can you powder coat over bondo? I always assumed you couldn't.
  15. I just have to say that I've had over 1000 transactions on eBay (buying and selling) and they have all been positive except one. A trolling motor didn't work and the seller never refunded my $100 after I returned the motor to him. eBay sent me a check for $85 after I filed a complaint. I've never paid more than I wanted to for an item and I've never lost any money (except $15) but that was negated by a hood ornament I paid $5 for and sold later for $250. The profits I've made on other items I've sold far outweighs the selling fees. Two Thumbs Up !!!!! James is right though....Be Careful and ask lots of questions.
  16. There's a small elec. motor shop here in town that's been in business since the 50's. They have rebuilt several gen's and starters for me. If you don't have any luck around your area PM me and I'll have them fix yours. You can also buy a 6 volt alternator from Fifth Avenue Alternators.
  17. I found mine on eBay while searching "Guide model 31 backup light".
  18. For my 38 Dodge Coupe and my 35 sedan I'm going to mount these old GM backup lights off of the front bumper bracket. They are shaped like the headlights. I'll paint the inside of the lenses with semi-transparent amber paint from the stained glass store.
  19. Not too far from me. Hmmmm
  20. I didn't take Don for a ride in an old car but we did go down the hill to my junk yard in my Dakota for a look. I would have taken him for a ride in the 38 Dodge coupe but he had a lot of driving ahead of him to get the rental car back to S.F in time. I'm not sure yet on the color for the coupe but I'm leaning towards going back to the original medium blue. Maybe even two tone.
  21. Don Coatney came for a visit today all the way from San Francisco. It must have been a 3 hour drive one way. He's a really great guy and I'm very honored and flattered that he took the time to come all the way up here for a visit. Thanks Don! It was good meeting you. Oh yeah.....sorry the lady in the little gps box got ya lost towards the end of the trip. Norm.......No
  22. My sediments exactly.
