  1. Yeah man !! It was brutal here this morning. All the way down to 39. I nearly died of exposure taking photos outside.
  2. Yup...no wood in my 35 Dodge except for some Oak bars that help support the damn soft top. I say damn soft top only because I haven't found anyone to replace mine yet so I can't drive it in the winter.

This car use to be quite the wanderer with it's older Firestone bias ply wide whites. Much nicer ride now !
  4. I've been saving this luggage rack for years. I removed it from a 57 Dodge panel truck before I sold it. I think the perfect home for it will be on Elbert, aka "Bert" the 49 Suburban. Now ......I'm not sure what the customary or proper location of one of these racks is. Here are 3 locations. I've racked my brain long enough. REAR MIDDLE FRONT
  5. It was done a lot back when. Frustrating isn't it. My 50 Chrysler engine had all the numbers ground off and was left with a clean slate. Your 58 was an L series and the engine number would have started with an L This engine in my 40 Dodge panel has this tag on it and some numbers stamped on the boss that make no sense.
  6. Charlie, I haven't corrected my mismatched brakes yet on Ole Yeller. You may recall that my stock front brakes are working much better than the rear brakes in a 66 T-Bird rear end. The T-Bird has much larger shoes and much smaller wheel cylinders so that the rear brakes aren't doing much work. How would your kit fix my particular problem?
  7. Maybe there was a mouse or paper wasp nest inside the heater. PU !
  8. I guess most of my cables are stretched too cause in some cases even with a cable shortener in the cable the brakes still don't hold worth beans. I haven't replaced any of the band material cause there is still some left in each case so I'm gonna give Norms spacer a try. Good eyedear Norm !

    I put a set of radial Diamondbacks on J Lo a while back. 750 x 16 rear and 700 x 16 front. Here's a closeup of the front. Here's an overall view.
  10. Glad you're feeling better John. Bring lots of blankets and your camera.
  11. OK..here's a NOS one marked for 39,40 and 41 Plymouth. The number shows on the box. I have another one meant for the flat 6 trucks 230 engine numbered BXVD-3. If interested make me an offer on either cause my 40 Plym and my truck are already purring like a swiss kittens....huh?
  12. I have a couple of NOS Stromberg 1 bbl's. I'll check on the numbers tomorrow morn. Does the car have a gasoline powered heater in it?
  13. Happy Birthday KID !
  14. Well....a 50 1.5 ton came with a 236.......not a 231.......so keep minding his business Don.
  15. Yes Tim, The stars seem to be worn and one has a chip out of it. The other part on the jamb is probably worn too. Is this a common latch used for many years or just for a year or two? Anyone here have part numbers? Thanks Tim and Anthony.
  16. Are new door latch mechanisms available somewhere for the 49 Suburban? I loosened the receiver part on the door jamb and moved it as far in as possible and the doors still have lots of slop when closed:confused:
  17. Yes Ed. It has the stock 4 speed and granny still isn't necessary to get rolling so it's essentially a 3 on the floor. 1st gear is still pretty much a stump puller.
  18. Tony, I also have a 50 Chrysler 251 installed in the truck so Ole Yeller does fine off the line and up long grades.
  19. I just purchased a full set of floor pans for my 49 plym from ClassicParts4U@aol.com Havent received them yet so I can't report on the fit.
  20. The calculator says that at 2800 rpm "Ole Yeller" ,my 52 1/2 ton with it's 3.0 rear ratio, is moving along at 82 mph. I don't like to drive the truck more than about 60 mph so I guess I'm use to hearing the engine at only ~2100 rpm. Yup Greg....that splains when I hear one of these engines running at more than about 2500 rpm's I feel like it's gonna fly apart.
  21. According to the rpm calculator posted by Greg G at 55 mph with 235/15 tires your engine would be turning at 2630 rpm. By "red line" do you mean when will your engine scatter it's parts all over the road?
  22. For me 2500 rpm for cruising is comfortable. What size are your 15" tires? P235's are going to turn slower than P205's.
  23. Again....my apologies to Reg and all for posting an incorrect number........ but I still like the car Reg!! John - Colorado No problem John....I still like it too !
