  1. Here's a thread from last year. I turn my mixer on with my finger though, not my lips Don and Tim. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=133&highlight=cement+mixer
  2. Man....That made me dizzy.....and I thought strapping one to the front of a cement mixer was the way to go.
  3. Great looking truck. How neat to know most of the trucks history. Is there an engine number on the block? If the number hasn't been ground off and it's a car engine the number will probably start with a D for Dodge or P for Plymouth. If the number is there post it here and I'll tell you how many cubes it has. From the length of the running boards it appears that your truck started out as a long bed 1 ton pickup.
  4. The D24 engine is a 230 c.i. engine and was rated at 102 h.p. @ 3600 rpm.
  5. The T118 according to my book is a 46-47 236 long block engine from a 1.5 ton truck. The head should be about 2" longer than the D24 engine.
  6. Hey..hook a tape recorder up to the motion detector with this sound bite playing from an outdoor woofer tucked under a bush in the dark. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6843440760794951947&q=growling+dog&total=867&start=60&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=2
  7. Same story as RobertKB. Over the past 5 years I've totally rebuilt the stock brakes on (8) '35 thru '59 Mopars. None are leaking or pulling left or right yet. Knocking on woodgrain.

    Test

I got 82. Guess I don't understand how pulleys work or how to read an electrical schematic. This is scary cause I collect old wooden pulleys and have wired about 50 new homes.
  9. OK, I found a photo of the front of the block on the internal bypass engines. Found this photo in Allan Faust's photo bucket. Thanks Allan ! http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v395/joker77/Engine%20-%20Drivetrain/?action=view&current=head014.jpg What are Welch Plugs you ask? They're also known as freeze plugs or frost plugs. Here's a welch plug ralphing up rusty sludge buildup in the block that could be contributing to your overheating problem. Drive an old screwdriver into the center of one of yours near the back of the engine on the drivers side and see what ya find in there.
  10. Don, I don't have the water pump off any of my engines right now but I noticed from the photo of your old external pumps that the new ones have an extra hole just below the water dist. tube. Napa online has a new pump listed for $71.50. http://www.napaonline.com/masterpages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=470&LineCode=NWP&PartNumber=55713&Description=Water+Pump+-+New If no one has a photo of an internal bypass block I'll pull the pump off my spare 53 Plym engine today and post a photo. Chucky07....can you post some photos when you remove your pump?
  11. The photos show up for me on this link. http://www.moparforum.com/NAPAwaterpump.html
  12. Can you find a vin number on the driverside of the frame near the front axle? Maybe we could id it from those numbers.
  13. By overhaul do you mean a ring and valve job or a complete rebuild?
  14. Yeah..great song! Did you listen to the Nelson Adelard and Mark Norris version?
  15. Oh Jesus Ed !!! Please don't use the IRS word around a self employed guy like myself. OH oh oh ...wait....if you mean independant rear suspension. Yes, I think so.
  16. Maybe some sort of route van?
  17. Looks like a internal universal device to me. More commonly referred to as an IUD.
  18. I have some hood sides and center piece. Yours for the cost of shipping.
  19. OK, that's a stock engine for a 51. Someone may have installed a later head on your engine if it has that internal bypass hole in the head up front. I'm not sure if that would matter.
  20. Don, you're right !!!! 1001/1
  21. Here's a photo of the two different head gaskets Merle mentioned. The one on the left if for the later engines with the internal bypass (maybe 53 and later). What is your engine number?
  22. I have to admit that I have had to resort to setting out a banquet of Decon too. We're outnumbered here on the property by 1000 to 1 with wild things. I tried for the first few years here controlling them with cats but all three times the cats vanished without a trace. Oh wait ! ...one exception.....we did find a trace of one of our poor missing kitties. Bingo was his nameO. Warning !!!! Some of you might want to turn away now. Don't look down.
  23. Allen, those are just caps over the bolt heads. Got them from Sacramento Vintage Ford. The battery location under the seat is a pain in the ash and probably causes most of us to neglect battery maintenance. You could fabricate a battery tray and install it on the drivers side inner fender panel just like the cars of the same era. You would need to strenghten the fender panel to carry the weight too. I've also seen some retrofitted to the firewall on the drivers side.
  24. Good one Normspeed. Just a few weeks ago I added to his rap sheet by turning him into the CPS for treating his adult child harshly.
  25. Here's what it looks like.
