  1. I told a friend yesterday about my engine with the .06 oversized pistons in it and he said "OH NO....you're going to have overheating problems during the summer months" He says he never goes over .03. Says he has the cylinders sleeved if over that. He's a retired chief ships engineer and was in charge of keeping the big ships shipshape. I'm a bit skeptical but wondered what your experiences have been.

  3. The very tired D22 engine is out. It'll be nice to drive this car without thinking a rod is gonna let loose any minute.
  4. That's good news Jim. Keep an eye on your rear brakes now that the diff is full. Might need new seals.
  5. Hey...this is weird. I suggested that you lube your joints and top off your trans and diff but my post is gone now. Glad that was all it was Jim. Oh...never mind. I had posted on the car side. Just a touch of dementia. Nothing serious.
  6. Hey thanks Greg. If you were able to dig one out I'd be interested in the 48 Dodge. How are you at doin the low crawl?
  7. Thanks for the tip Norm.
  8. While I have the engine and tranny out of the car I might as well get the e Brake to work. Problem is ......everything is missing except the drum and cable. Anyone here have those parts for sale?
  9. If it hasn't been spoken for what are you asking for the Chrysler intake?
  10. I think you are right Tony about a stock dual intake for Dodge/Plymouth but in 56 Plymouth came out with a 2 barrel intake. 1 year only for some reason. You can purchase a 1 to 2 barrel adaptor like the one pictured below the red manifold.
  11. Hey Thanks Tim....I came up with 239 with my tape measure and my caveman math cause the bore looks like 3 5/16" with the overbore. I'm gonna try this stuff out on the engine.
  12. I am temporarily transplanting a D24 engine into my 1942 D22 coupe (J Lo)until I can have the D22 rebuilt. The D24 engine runs well and has 110 lbs of compression in all cylinders. I removed the head to inspect the cylinder walls and valves and it all looks good to the naked eye. The pistons are marked .06. My bonehead math question is.......if the stock cylinder on the 230 measures 3 1/4 x 4 5/8,How many cubes is the engine with a 60 thousanths overbore?
  13. Very cool accessories. Did you find the tach and switch or were they on the truck? Does your 4 tonner have the factory dual intake and exhaust?
  14. Love those Coupe UTEs....guess I'll have to move down under if I'm ever going to have one. Welcome Pete!
  15. Thanks for the heads up Harold ! I took advantage of the deal and listed my 52 Suburban and got a bid already.
  16. Same stuff that goes in the rear end. 90 weight. Also pull the drive shaft off and take the round sheet metal cover off of each end and put some grease in each one. Mark the front of the drive shaft so you don't reverse it. I wouldn't fool with the fluid coupling until I had tried those areas first.
  17. Jim, Have you lubed the U joints and topped off the tranny and rear end?
  18. Thanks Joe. That sounds like a good idea. I'll do that too.
  19. Yes....welcome back Joe. I recently purchased a 49 Plym.Suburban with swiss cheese floors. I found some replacement floor boards on eBay from Classicparts4u and wondered if you have any hot tips for replacing the floor? The body mounts seem OK.
  20. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v154/olddodges1/40%20Panel%20half%20ton/?action=view&current=MVC-001S.jpg To all Panel Lovers. I am getting ready to put this on eBay for $2500. Just too many projects. It runs great with a hot wire and a gas can tank.
  21. Here are a few examples of mostly stock Pilot House trucks that have sold on eBay recently. I have also seen some stock ones sell for $15K or more. I am sure that in each case only 50 cents was returned for each dollar spent #320173263318, 150182910849. As stated before they are labors of love. This same return on your money occurs with Chevys and Fords. Do not tell your wife !
  22. Thanks Todd.
  23. Well, that's what I've been wondering about lately.......if a similar vintage Ford wheel cylinder from a non power brake system would have a larger bore cylinder. Anybody out there have a Ford parts book that would show a part number for a non power brake system rear wheel cylinder on a 66 Ford? PS....Anyway....I'd like to order a disc kit for my 49 Suburban. Can you send me a PayPal invoice?
  24. Yeah.....But what about Feng Shui ?
  25. Tim, 3 the 4 power giant years (57-60) share the same door design. The 57 door is a hold over from the 54-56 era. Most of the sheetmetal is interchangable too from 58-60. Here's a yahoo group that deals with your era of truck. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/54-60Dodgetrucks/
