I've installed an electric fuel pump in the past-6 volt pos. gnd.-It was mounted on the frame and switched.It was in series with the mechanical pump and used only to prime the carb for starting after a period of time when the car hadn't been started.In my opinion this is the only advantage to installing an electric fuel pump.In both cases where I've had a mechanical pump fail on a trip they were both leaking gas.I think carrying a spare mechanical pump is a better idea.Also fuel pressure to the carb should be checked if installing an electric fuel pump to ensure it isn't too high - could cause a flooding problem.

..I didn't figure the oiler was serving a useful purpose,that why it's disconnected,it looks cool though.There's a number of members on this forum that put a lot of miles on their old flathead sixes and I value their opinions.

My 48 Dodge has an oiler (Redex).It was installed back in the day by a previous owner.It's mounted on the firewall and was connected to the vacuum line.I cleaned it up and left it in place.I disconnected it though.

I believe fogging oil has been mentioned in the past for use with engines not in use for a length of time.It's commonly used in marine applications

I was at a Padres game in San Diego in the 70's and prior to the game,I was standing in line at a concession for a beer and a hot dog ,there was the usual noise-all of a sudden everyone was quiet, all motion stopped and in the background I could hear your national anthem-I was impressed.

Good question Fred.The Plymouth has been repainted in the past and the gray is a shade lighter than original.The firewall and under the hood has the original gray. According to the plate on the firewall the original paint code is 4008.

I had a closer look at your photo and it appears Hull is the manufacturer.It's a nice period item for your car.

That's an interesting looking item on the windshield divider.I'm guessing a compass.Are there any markings on it as to manufacturer?

Fortunately we can still get local TV off air -I get 4 channels with rabbit ears I don't watch a lot of TV.Eventually progress will intervene and I suppose I'll have to get cable.

Hi Frank,Eastwood has a DVD on Body Soldering in their catalog,should be available on line.I haven't seen it so I can't recommend it.Maybe some others have seen it.They also have a lead free body solder product that looks interesting
