  1. It's always good to have a friend that is a bodyman. Mine happens also to be my brother in law (good price and a warranty) The sheet metal work you've done looks great, should make the filler work easier.
  2. Looks alright to me, but I won't be rushing out to copy or order one. The colors kinda remind me of the clay smith cams woodpecker.
  3. Mixed rain and snow here for the last 2 days, but it's made up it's mind to snow now. 2" so far tonight and I'm not looking forward to farming tomorrow:(
  4. I did the same thing this morning. Oh well an extra hour in the shop working on the plymouth this morning before going to work:D
  5. Thanks, It's been a long road to get to where it is now (a lot of rust) I'm planning on posting a progres thread in a little while.
  6. I like picture posts too, so here's my most recent pics.(still a work in progress)
  7. At 36 I've made the cut. I've been into old car as long as I can remember and still have my 51 chevy pickup I got when I was 15. I've only just recently joined the mopar family (5 years ago) with the purchase of my 40 plymouth sedan. I've also restored my dad's first car a 27 chrysler and have just started our winter project a 1952 D2 Cat. It's also interesting to see how many here grew up on, around, or worked on farms. I'm helping run our family's dairy farm started by my grandpa. I keep telling my wife if I ever grow up I'll also be able to say I grew up on a farm.
  8. What rear gear ratio are you running? My 51 chevy has the same sort of engine mods. Perhaps you gear ratio is to high.
  9. What's in my trunk??? Until about a year ago, RUST!!
  10. What an excellent adventure! Thanks for posting the pictures. I hope to take my plymouth on a run like this, if or when I ever get it finished.
  11. Our local napa carries those clips as well as the private parts house. We just bought a ton of them to put the trim on my buddy's 54 oldsmobile.
  12. After watching cpt. freds video here and a couple post of event coverage in sweden on the hamb it got me to thinking how much more difficult and expensive it must be to build and drive hot rods and such in other countries. Their scene seem to be very much alive and well despite the costs. I know sometimes the shipping to Canada from the states is almost as much as the part itself, and we're on the same continent. What about the price of fuel? Here on the Island about 2-3 years ago the price finally cracked $1 a liter and was as high as $1.35 but this year the price has stayed pretty constant at $1.03 and climbed to $1.18 during the long weekends of the summer. Just for giggles, what's the price of fuel where you live and if you're outside North America what's the most expensive part you've had shipped?
  13. you guys are having way to much fun over there:D cool video
  14. Thanks for posting, it's neat to see what's going on in other parts of the world. Look like you guys have it the way it supposed to be... just plain and simple fun.
  15. I don't mind it, but it's a good thing that it has a windshield or you might not know which way to face to drive it:D
  16. The fender line continuing into the door looks more like a GM product to me.
  17. Works for me, but I'm not sure that I'd want to take too hard a charge with a couple of "soft" body mounts:eek:
  18. I guess my car didn't know that. Yaba Daba DOOO:D
  19. I had those too. I've cut a lot of the rust out, now I have a 45 gallon drum outside the shop with rusty metal in it. (a very rewarding feeling:D) However since I have sand blasted the car and even though it was just a bare shell and blown out and vacuumed well I have traded the rust strips for little piles of sand whenever it gets bumped around.
  20. Thanks for all the help guys. I already have two lenses plus a spare and a set of nos bezels (two years of watching ebay) They were the first parts I bought to customize my '40 when I bought it and I have my heart firmly set on using them and with the patches I've had to make so far, making light buckets should be quite do-able althought maybe modifing 39 ford buckets might be an idea. For some reason though my ideas always seem to take the path of MOST resistance. I will post pictures of how it goes stay tuned:D
  21. thanks again, I am expecting that I'll have to make my own buckets. I saw a nice pair go for auction on the bay for what I thought was a lot of money but I now understand that they're pretty rare. I was just wondering if the stock '39's had buckets (which I now know they do my '40 doesn't seem to)and what does the part (I'm assuming it's the bucket) that the tail light and bezel bolt to look like? I'll need to make something like that too.
  22. Thanks for all the info, but does anyone have a picture of the 39 tail light with the lense off?
  23. Thanks that's exactly what I'm looking for.
  24. I'm customizing my 40 ply sedan by changing the tail lights to 1939 plymouth tail lights and am adding the third brake light from a 1946 plymouth to the trunk lid. So far so good mounting them, but I was wondering if anyone on here has a picture of the workings underneath? Does the '39 tail light have it's own bucket or is the light socket on a bracket and just clip in from the back like my '40? As for the 3rd brake light does it have a bucket and what does it look like? Thanks
