  1. I must have a super duper one that excites at 600 rpm??? Come to think of it, my father has one of those super ones on his 47 Ford. Specifically tested it yesterday, RPM"s did not go above 600. Went right to 25a.
  2. I can't tell you how many time I hear a 1 wire will not charge at idle. I installed one in my Dodge a few months ago (already had it so it was free) and it goes to 30 amps at idle right after start up. Then it settles to about 1-2 amp rate in about 10 seconds....... Hot engine so RPM's do not go above 600. The only thing that didn't charge at idle was my stock generator. I say it's hogwash that they don't charge at idle.
  3. What great videos, glad to see you got your NSRA safety inspection
  4. Being the cheap a__ that I am, I gutted my old radio, installed a modern radio inside it and put the speaker grille on a hinge. Origional dial there and lights up, knobs there and buttons there. Almost can't tell the difference. If you pull the top of the speaker grille it hinges foward showing a modern radio. I already had the new radio and speakers so the whole project cost me about 30.00 and some time. I have a friend that bought a 8 track that mounts under the dash at a swap meet for 5.00 and did basically the same thing. Mounts nicely under the dash of his 60 Cad. Looks like it belongs there too.
  5. Awesome!!!!!
  6. Hello Michael, There have been several threads on this subject, most recently in the tech archives. I have cut about 1/2 to 3/4 of a coil off the front and some blocks in the rear. Do the coils a little at a time because you can't put it back on. I would not recommend any more than a 2" lowering block in the rear because of the "scrub line" might be too low. Oh and welcome to the forum.
  7. HIGH valve spring pressures and flat tappet cams need the zinc. Our Flatheads DO NOT have high valve spring pressures, zinc is not needed.
  8. Mine spun the same way with either polarity.
  9. Ok Ed, if you end up wanting it, here are the deminsions. The body itself is 3" x 2.75" in diameter. Shaft length is 1.75" from the body and 3/16" in diameter. Her are some picts. I will be away for 3 days so I won't see your answer till then. Unless I sneak onto the wifey's laptop.
  10. Ed, I will post basic dimensions tonight when I get home. Mine was also mounted to a plate with 2 studs. I used the plate and cage on my other motor. You will have to use yours. Post back in a few hours.
  11. Ed, Let me know. It is out of a 49 Wayfarer....... Not sure on fitment but I will send it to you for shipping price only.
  12. I wish I wasn't half was across the country I would give you the one out of my Dodge assuming it would fit. Looks brand new and works perfectly. I didn't want to kill it on 12v so I replaced it.
  13. I found a diaper in the lower cover of a chevy bellhousing once to hide a rear main leak.
  14. Heard of bananna peels too.
  15. Higher compression
  16. Some people say the guage work fine on 12v. I put a Runtz in mine. Got it from Speedway.
  17. Yup, that looks like the one from my 49.
  18. Put a HEMI in it....... Sorry had to say it
  19. Does your fluid drive drag the engine down ALOT? I always use it like a non fluid drive clutch because mine really drags the motor down. Almost can hear the rods rattle when leaving a stop if the clutch is not used.
  20. Need to know an EXCELLENT machinest for that one!!
  21. As I never drove my 47 (basket case) and the last old Mopar I had was my 39 Plym with a 201, I don't think my 49 Dodge FD is all that much slower off the line than a non fluid drive vehicle would be. Don't get me wrong, it is slow but it is also a Flathead. Faster than Uncle's 36 Ford (8BA) from 20mph on????? But not that much slower below 20mph. FWIW
  22. Unless it has a flasher built into it, it won't know the difference between 6 or 12 volts.
  23. Awesome!!!!!! Taking notes for my 49.
