  1. I guess people can't use discrimination as a reason for not being able to reach higher anymore. I hope Mr Obama inspires a whole generation of "minorities" to try harder...obviously in America the impossible is STILL possible if you try hard enough. That's nice to see, gives hope for the future for everyone. Failure is not an option. .
  2. It is a RIGHT handed thing-a-majig, as you can plainly see by the part number. The much rarer LEFT handed thing-a-majig bears the part number L J562:D
  3. One of these may make the reinstal easier on you if you're alone again.
  4. I have never liked the Fenton visor...side bracket is too busy and unsightly. I did like the Peckat visor. I had one on my frst 49 Chrysler, a dealer added accesory installed when it was new. The paint was shiney enough to see the reflection of the traffic lights in the hood paint.
  5. Well said, Robert, I agree wholeheartedly. I don't recall seeing people dancing in the streets in those numbers after an election in the US before.
  6. 1951 Dodge Pumper...4,500 original miles. Having touble getting $7500: http://www.fentonfire.com/antique_fire_trucks/listing.php?lid=1048 Look through the for sale ads here. They are mostly very low miles and some decent prices. My brother in law is an electrical contractor and is seriously looking at an ex fire rescue truck from this site for his next service truck. http://www.fentonfire.com/
  7. With the mess he's inheriting from "B", I sure hope to he!! he doesn't waste a minute on anything to do with old cars! Isn't most of that state and local anyway? I know up here the federal gov't has little to do with laws that would affect the old car hobby. I don't think "O" could possibly do worse than "B".
  8. Just wondering, with PlyDo maybe gone, is anyone else making mounts for a 440/727 into the 49-54 era cars? Does the firewall need to be massaged?
  9. Simple and cheap from Princess Auto, likely available at other outlets as well, $35 on sale, reg is $55 I think. Black uprights slide along the crossmember to the width of the oil pan lip. The right hand crossmember had to be moved left to fit the flattie. edit...much the same as the Eastwood model oldmopar posted the link to only cheaper.
  10. China
  11. I will, but you would have to help me up after. I don't tie mine, I can't even SEE them!
  12. There is a tag on the distributor housing with an alpha numeric number on it starting with 3 letters. If you give the partsman that number, he should be able to get you the parts. If not, send me that number and I will track down the numbers you need. This is from a post I made a while ago: "I ordered a cap and rotor for the 46 Fargo Saturday from my local Ma and Pa parts store. The fellow behind the counter asked me for the number from the distributor tag. Said there were at least two kinds and if he had the number, he could have me the parts next day(Sunday). Fine because I'm movin very slow anyway. The number he needed was this one: IGS 4202BL with the "IGS" part the key. For this dist, the cap is #AL96 and the rotor is #AL98. I'll post the maker to match to the part # when I pick up the parts. UPDATE: These above part numbers are Standard Motor Products part numbers and the parts fit the mentioned distributor perfectly. So, if you can get the number from your particular distributor, you should be able to track down the correct cap, rotor, points and condenser. http://www.bownessauto.com/ ask for Roy (he's the guy in the pic on the right) He knows his stuff, old and new." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php? p=87621#post87621 scroll down to post #4
  13. Magic they are, for sure. Even parts of an old car are magic. I had the "free" flathead in the back of the pickup for a week before I could get it hoisted out and at least 5 people walked up to me and struck up a conversation about the old flathead.
  14. This ad just showed up for 2 25 inch 251's, $100 for both. The seller says the ring lands on one cylinder of the silver one are bad. http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-parts-accessories-1949-dodge-fargo-plymouth-flathead-6-motor-engine-W0QQAdIdZ83485132
  15. Bright sun and mid 60's , be nice tomorrow too, then mid 40's for Thursday and warm again for the weekend. No sign of snow yet this season in my area...it's coming, though ;( Mountains are getting dumped on, some passes are closed, but we be smilin' here.
  16. My understanding is that it should be wet sanded between each coat.
  17. Been in my sig for a week...hilarious!!!
  18. I really like that grille, the nicest on that body style, I think. I also really like the 42 DeSoto with the hidden headlights...very classy looking.
  19. AAJ has a kit for rear discs on the original rear end. I think that's what Jim used. The bonus is that if you use Cadillac calipers, you get an ebrake setup built in...just need to hook up the cable. AAJ website: http://www.aajbrakes.bravepages.com/rearbrakes.html (horrible popups, but just x out of them)
  20. No bills here, but he may still be in the waiting room!!!
  21. Microsoft is dropping the hotmail name...windows live is the same thing. If you used to have a hotmail acct, try to sign in again and it's likely still there.
  22. I lose stuff all the time. I even forget what it was I lost that I was looking for, or why I needed it!
  23. I felt like a 25 year old yesterday, but she slapped me!!
  24. Sounds like a spring failed and the lining/shoe is now "floating" in the drum, and the broken spring is in there loose as well.
  25. I agree, if outdoors, a car cover causes more problems than it prevents. One of those portable "garages" are much better if you can swing it.
