  3. If it was in Canada, the French would have sued him if his check wasn't written in French. Don't want to damage the culture by having to deal with an English check, you know!!
  4. Sorry to hear of the engine passing I like the white wheel, kinda sets everything off nicely.
  5. I like the headlight treatment on this wagon...clean and neat.
  6. I noticed when I was putting on the oil pan a while back that the oil tube was touching the pan...had to "massage" the pan a bit to provide clearance. Then I came across this from one of those little booklets Chrysler put out. I thought I would post it just in case someone is mystified by another strange noise coming from their flatty.
  7. That's a beauty!
  8. Nice work, but he should be filling both trucks for a year...still cheaper than a lawyer and a few nights in the slammer with Bubba:D
  9. You guys just leave me in the dust when you get so darn technical...it's hard to keep up.
  10. Greg, I don't have much of an opinion on US politics, but it certainly affects us big time, and I watch it alot. That's how the joke was sent to me...I got a chuckle out of the fact it wasn't his car...the bumper sticker part could easily have been omitted I suppose. Your race has more personality and drama than our snoozer, but then again you have more media to keep busy.
  11. Payback is a BIT*H : (This guy doesn't need a Rotti) INDIANAPOLIS -- A man who police said broke into a home with the intention of sexually assault a 17-year-old girl in her bedroom died early Sunday morning after a struggle with the girl's father. David Meyers, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after officers arrived following a report of a home invasion in the 3500 block of West 79th Street at about 3:20 a.m. Officers said they found Robert McNally, 64, on the floor with his arm around the neck of Meyers, struggling to hold him down. When officers told McNally he could let go, they found that Meyers was unresponsive. Medics who were called to the scene then pronounced Meyers dead. Indianapolis police Sgt. Matt Mount said Meyers had come into the home naked, except for a mask and latex gloves. "He had rope, had a knife, had condoms, had a gag," Mount said. Police said Meyers had gotten into the home through a window next to the girl's bedroom and that he knew the home well because his uncle owns it and he was an acquaintance of the family. The teen awoke to find a naked man in her room and began screaming, alerting McNally, police said. During a protracted struggle in the hallway of the home, McNally was able to get his arm around Meyers' neck and subdue him while his wife called police, officers said. Meyers was a registered sex offender and was released from prison two years ago after he had served 10 years of a 20-year sentence for criminal confinement and sexual deviate conduct stemming from a case in Hamilton County. Meyers was also being sought in Boone County for failure to register as a sex offender. Police said Meyers had been living with his mother down a gravel road from the home that the McNally family lived in and had recently lost his job. "When they got the mask off, both the father and daughter recognized him," Mount said. Police said Meyers had a history of heart problems. They were not immediately sure if he died as a result of heart failure or from being choked. The results of the police investigation will be turned over to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, but it is unlikely charges will be filed, police said. http://www.theindychannel.com/news/17576601/detail.html
  12. The other day I went downtown to run a few errands. I went into the local coffee shop for a snack. I was only there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out, there was this cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, 'Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break'? He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. His insensitivity annoyed me, so I called him a 'Nazi.' He glared at me and then wrote out another ticket for having worn tires. So I proceeded to call him a 'doughnut eating Gestapo.' He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket when I called him a moron in blue. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I talked back to him the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn't really care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had one of those bumper stickers that said, ' McCain '08.' I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. The doctor tells me that it's important for my health.
  13. I never said it was a sane thing to do, just that it can be done
  14. I have a friend who has a motorcycle and he has a rule that the bike gets ridden 12 months a year, and he has yet to miss a month. If the bike can be ridden in the frozen north, a car can be driven. After all, that's what they were built for. January 23/07. Waiting for his wife after breakfast at a local restaurant...a ride of about 5 miles for them...10 for me.
  15. Are you sure you have the semi-automatic M5? Fluid Drive only refers to the Fluid Coupling replacing the flywheel. There COULD be a regular 3 speed transmission behind the Fluid Coupling. You would have to shift that transmission manually. If your gearshift lever has a gear position toward you and down where first gear would normally be, then you have a regular 3 speed transmission. Drive it like any 3 on the tree. If there is not a gear position where first would normally be, then you have an M5...which DeSoto called the "Tip-Toe" shift. The same transmission with minor wiring changes is used in 49 on but called the M6. The first thing to check, if it IS the M5, are the wire connections on the transmission, carb and coil. Second is the idle on the M5. If it's over 450 rpm. the trans won't shift up. It needs to drop that much for the shift to work. Check those things and let us know if it will shift. There's more if it won't. Nothing mysterious, it's a very simple system, really. And LOTS of great help here on the forum.
  16. Those were some of the most interesting pics I've seen in a long time, Don. Normally, those "rat rods" leave me cold but those showed alot of imagination. Thanks...I enjoyed those. Camel Towing
  17. Hey, Tim, can you post a quick readers digest version...I'm curious as to how this would work. Thanks Pat
  18. As for wiring the computer, give Ron Francis a call before you go painless. He can do you up a custom harnes specifically for your car with a serial number for the same price as a "universal" painful kit. Ask for Ron personally. He invented the hot rod wiring kit in 1974...he da man http://www.ronfrancis.com/

  20. Our gas rates are going DOWN a bit I think it's a cruel trick to make us think they will be low all winter. Electricity varies as to provider, but get's expensive in winter when we use more power for things like block heaters and more lights for the much shorter day. 21. Tim, the AACA has a great forum called "What is is?" They are pretty good at IDing obscure makes from less info than that. http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php/forums/58/1/What_is_it For anyone into old trucks, the American Truck Hysterical Society has a great "What Am I?" forum as well. http://forums.aths.org/InstantForum414/Forum7-1.aspx
  22. I think maybe eBay would pay a bundle to have you NOT sell the pics:eek:
  23. I've never been a fan of spending time in a garage with a running car, even if the door is open.
  24. Lots of Off brands are made in China...poorly For Nanco, check the DOT number on the tire for recalls...they seem to have put themselves out of business by the poor track record of their tires. http://keystonervs.forumco.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=670&whichpage=1
