  1. I'd say that's a painting from the 1980s or 90s, judging by the airbrushed style of illustration.
  2. I'd guess that it's an aftermarket turn signal switch.
  3. A friend just sent me this link... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=140&t=909397&mid=47682&nmt=1949%20dodge%20%22hearse%22%20! It's certainly an interesting vehicle.
  4. Here are some of the Plymouth Christmas images....
  5. Really sorry to hear the news Charlie, but glad to hear that the wood wasn't damaged. Hope you're back on the road soon. Robin.
  6. Bob, Henry's not in those school pictures. Here are few shots from The Hot Rod Hayride, in the summer. 1. At the track. 2. In a friend's Buick Limited - Henry actually got to 'drive' this car round the car park. 3. With mum, at the end of the weekend.
  7. My son's class at school are studying the mid 20th century. They were each given a specific topic and he got... Transport! When they were asked to bring something in, he had an idea.... So, this morning, my wife and I dressed in vintage suits and hats and took our Plymouth to school. We also took lots of 1940s hats, ties and purses, so the children could try them on. And we provided music - The Andrews Sisters, on 78rpm records, played on an HMV portable gramophone. They all had a great time and the Plymouth was the star of the show!
  8. Just happened upon this picture on the web. Looks like a cut & paste job, featuring a great looking P15 Business Coupe. http://www.surfysurfy.net/2009/10/coming-soon-surfy-surfy-surf-shop.html Click the picture for a larger view.
  9. Dennis, I guess the other posters can answer directly but the impression I get is that their concerns are regarding trophy-hunting owners who seem to get more pleasure from receiving a prize than they do from actually driving their cars. I don't think anyone would take issue with you using a trailer for long journeys. Because your car also gets used and enjoyed. I must say, I always fail to understand the reasoning behind owning a car that is not driven. Maybe it's 'perfect', but so what. The pleasure of old cars is not just how great they look, but how they sound, smell and handle. I always maintain that as much as I think my Plymouth is a beautiful rolling work of art, the best view is the one through the windshield and along the hood.
  10. ...and I think that might be his signature on the door
  11. Would love to see the candid photo... The Thunderbolt is one of my all-time favourites. One was auctioned in January, but didn't sell at $1,175,000. See... http://www.rmauctions.com/CarDetails.cfm?SaleCode=AZ10&CarID=r184
  12. Here's the listing... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-P-15-6-SPD-CLASSIC-1946-RED-PLYMOUTH-CONVERTIBLE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3cb067ab00QQitemZ260657621760QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks#ht_500wt_1006
  13. Here you go. A picture taken at Dungeness, on the South coast of England. Border added and filtered, to look like a vintage shot.
  14. Nick Curran is a jump blues and rockabilly guitar god! Seriously, if any of you guys enjoy hard vintage-style rockin' music, get yourself along to see him. He is amazing. He played our Rhythm Riot festival in the UK a couple of years ago. It was one of the best shows we've seen in 14 years. Check out his music at http://www.myspace.com/curranrock His treatment of Tommy Brown's 'Women and Cadillacs' is brilliant.

  16. Brilliant stuff! Thanks for posting. Here's an item everyone will probably recognise... http://www.google.com/patents?id=zA5vAAAAEBAJ&pg=PA1&dq=Robert+Cadwallader&source=gbs_selected_pages&cad=1#v=onepage&q=Robert%20Cadwallader&f=false
  17. I definitely prefer panel mounted, rather than the peaked stand-up lights. I cheated a bit with my car... I used a pair of white lights and fitted them with orange bulbs. That way, they look more like original reversing light accessories, rather than add-ons. They are actually fitted a bit too close to the rear lights for my liking, but I used the holes that were already there, from some horrible cheap, trailer lights. One day, I'll move them down and repaint the panels. These are the lights I used. I like the finned lenses. They are British parts, used as front side lights on several cars - I think Austin 1100, etc. http://www.vintagemotorspares.com/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/hodge?opendocument∂=6 (number 496 is the one) Hope you like this set up. Robin.
  18. I don't know what that copper thing was - but here's an idea for what it could be next... http://athome.kimvallee.com/2009/02/color-ball-accessories-cheer-up-your-home-high-and/
  19. This is my 500th post on the Forum. Fantastic! I'm so grateful to be part of such an amazing on-line community. I just saw that a picture of my Plymouth is being used by The Bugatti Owners' Club on their website advertising the Prescott Hill Climb, in the UK. Very flattering! I think it's come about because I'm a member of the Vintage Hot Rod Association, who will be guests at the event this year. Details are at http://www.prescott-hillclimb.com/october2010.aspx The Vintage Hot Rod Association is at www.VHRA.co.uk - check out the members page
  20. Greg, I was at the track last year when that Model A went up on two wheels, right in front of where we were standing. Luckily, the guy saved it, although the passenger door flew open and his girlfriend nearly fell out. It was SCARY! For a couple of laps before that happened, I'd been pointing out to my wife that his front tire was buckling under in the turns and I thought it was going to pop off the rim. Instead, the tire just dug into the dirt and flipped the car up. Spectacular. R.
  21. I'll be heading off to the Hotrod Hayride, this coming weekend, in the UK. Lots of oval dirt-track action. My P15 convertible will remain an amused spectator of all the track shenanigans. Check out www.HotRodHayride.com
  22. Here's a computer-generated mock-up of my planned variation on my wheel/tire combo... except I'll probably go with bigger hubcaps. The artillery wheels are from a '34 Dodge.
  23. CONGRATULATIONS, Deano... Winner of best in class at today's Rally of the Giants. And, to make things even better, my own P15 got second prize. (First picture shows prizewinners) Very flattering, considering the quality and rarity of some of the cars at the show. (Second picture - lovely Cadillac and Hudson) We met William - Norman Pitkin on the Forum - and loved looking round his beautiful and amazingly original Chrysler Coupe. Two of my friends also turned up with their 'new' cars... An incredible 1951 Nash and a 1942 Dodge convertible. (Third picture) I've been looking forward to seeing these cars, and I wasn't at all disappointed. Got a shot of my Plymouth with its sister Dodge, just before we left. (Fourth picture) All in all, a great day out.
  24. Hi Charlie, It looks fairly complete, apart from rocker moldings, bumper guards and front fender Special Deluxe emblems... not a big issue. It's also missing wiper arms and blades. I personally don't like the wheels - especially the big'n'littles giving it that 'back end up' look. Also, you can see that the rear fenders have been molded into the body. How much bondo is in the car? The panel fit, generally, looks very good. And the interior, from what is visible in the pictures, looks to have been done well. Would like to know more about the engine and transmission and I'd ask for pictures of work in progress, so you can see what's been done. Having said all this, it's a very cheap P15 convertible and if you have the cash available, I think it looks like it could be a great purchase. I bought my convertible, unseen, via the web. I've never regretted it for a moment. Good luck. Robin. PS now you've put this 'out there', you'd best act fast, to avoid being beaten to the deal.
  25. Hi Guys, Here's a new approach to car body modification, from Lithuania... http://englishrussia.com/index.php/2008/05/29/lithuanians-and-pu-foam/ Scroll down to see the work in progress.
