Robin (UK) replied to Joel Torres's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Really interesting. Thanks for posting. Surfed around the website and found this link to pictures of Russian vehicles in yards. There are some great looking cars here: http://englishrussia.com/?p=311 -

Bill, I LOVE the Fenton head you sold to me. My car is like a completely different machine now it's fitted with the speed equipment. Maybe you regret selling it, but I hope you feel better when you know that my car is used regularly so the head is not just another piece of eye candy on a trailer queen. Robin (UK)

Best car I ever owned, apart from my P15... My last P15!!!

Hey Guys, Just thought I'd try to inject a bit of perspective to the 'it's cheap to make so they shouldn't charge so much' argument... I've looked at cost of production of all sorts of items in the past, as souvenirs for our festival. The set-up is always VERY expensive and it's only economy of scale that brings the price down. The people who have developed these items will have put in a lot of money up front. It might only cost a few bucks to mold each housing and another few bucks to mold the lenses, but the actual cost will depend on the number of items made... and they certainly won't be making 10,000 at a time. In addition, the original dies or molds will be extremely expensive and the whole idea will have needed research and development, marketing, etc. The fact that LEDs are cheap doesn't really matter. That's a bit like saying paper is cheap so magazines shouldn't cost so much. I say let them set their price and the market will decide. I know one guy here in the UK who has bought the LED tail lights for the chrome housings and rubber gaskets only. He's really happy with them. I hate to see arguments on here, so I hope Don and Norm can agree to disagree.... and carry on enjoying their Plymouths.

Sorry. But that looks to me like a lesson in how to make a beautiful car look ugly. Restored would be great. Vintage-style custom would be great. Modern street rod with all sorts of tricks that just don't work?... No thank you!

A friend just sent me this link to some amazing 1940s color pictures. (Sorry, no cars included)... http://www.pdnphotooftheday.com/2009/03/628

I have two different ones on my car - set to be replaced, imminently, with a matching pair. If you look closely, you'll see the typeface on the thicker one is different to the thinner ones. Check the U, for example. It's also different at the first S and last E, as one style is infilled and the other isn't. Now... where's my anorak!!! Do you use the term 'anorak' in the US, meaning a pedantic specialist? e.g. He's a real anorak when it comes to discussing his P15

On Friday, Don posted a message on the Forum to say he was going to Turner's Yard and to ask if anyone wanted anything. I emailed to say I was looking for a hood release cable. Yesterday morning I woke to find a message from Don to say he'd got the parts for me. Further messages and pictures confirm great parts at a great price. I just wanted to say a big public THANK YOU to Don. As always, the guys on this Forum prove they are the best. It makes it so much easier to run my car 'in exile' with so many great people behind me. Thank you, Don. Thank you, everyone. Robin (UK) :)

Hi Bob, That car is very interesting, but it certainly doesn't look like a genuine Figoni & Falaschi body. I'm happy to accept that I could be wrong but F&F were coachbuilders who bodied high-end cars. This Buick is definitely a custom car, rather than a coachbuilt car and the lines just don't work in the way a genuine F&F would. I'd say it would look a lot better in red and chrome, but it's still a long way from the real thing. The car below is a Delahaye. And here's a link to more info: www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/coachbuilder.aspx?cbID=29&carID=9206

Hi Gary, Bayswater Road is not too far from my home so I hope we can find the time to hook up. Daytime is best for me, midweek. Maybe I can pick you up and take you for a cruise around some of the sights? We should be able to take in Buckingham Palace, The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and a few other places in about an hour or so on a round trip from your hotel. You can email me at: Robin@RockTheJoint.com All the best. Robin.

Guys, Is anyone out there breaking a P15? If so, there are a couple of parts needed by Bryan and me and we'd be more than happy to pay fair prices... Bryan would like to find the oil-filter set-up that allows him to use paper filters (he currently has the sealed can type of filter). I need a complete hood-release knob, inner and outer cable, and bracketry. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance. Robin.

OK. Here goes with lots of answers: RobertKB and Suddensix, The repair shop is not actually in London. It's in a small town called Farnborough. I'd happily give you the address and the guys there are always willing to show people around, but there's not much else in the area for tourists, so I wouldn't recommend using a precious day's holiday just for that visit. You'd be better off going to a car show if you can. Suddensix Please let me know when you are in London. If my timetable allows, I'll happily hook up with you and take you for a cruise around town in my P15. Bob T The guys at the shop are all in their late 40s or early 50s. They are traditional hotrodders so they know their way round flathead motors and all the old technology. They are also real enthusiasts, so are happy to repair parts (instead of replace), fabricate pieces and generally work to solve problems. normanpitkin - William, Can't wait to see your car. Glad to hear you're nearly on the road. I haven't bought a battery in London but I have these links on my favourites, from extensive internet searches. Hope they are helpful. Please let me know if you buy from either place. http://www.barden-uk.com/6-12-volt-classic-hard-rubber-batteries.html http://www.batterymegastore.co.uk/cgi-bin/megastore/commerce.cgi?product=Batteries_Vintage_Vehicles!6_Volt By the way, Deano and I and hopefully a few others will be meeting in West London to cruise down to the Wheels Day show on Good Friday. PM me, or email if you'd like to join us. You'll be welcome. Hope that answers everyone. In the meantime, here's my attempt at producing a vintage color picture, with adjusted coloration and contrast and added graining and white border.

Took my Plymouth to the shop today, for new wheel bearings, service, tune-up and a few other tweaks. Bryan was there, collecting his red coupe and Deano's green sedan was on the ramp having headers and twin pipes fitted. We lined them all up outside, with a 47 Chrysler sedan that's for sale, and got this great shot. This is certainly a rare sight in the UK. Hope you like it.

That's nothing. I once completed a puzzle in only 6 months and it said 3-5 years on the box!!!

Guys, I'm always reluctant to post details of live Ebay auctions (I know there was a thread about this recently) but have you seen the Chrysler T&C convertible with a buy it now price of only $18,500? I love this comment from the seller... Almost everything is being reproduced for these Classics, even complete wood kits, so do not be shy. Now, if anyone here buys this car, I have an original 1940s brush for sale for only 100 bucks. It would be ideal for sweeping up the remaining metal. The head and handle are missing, but you'll be able to get replacement parts at any good hardware store.

The P15 Business Coupe has a shorter roofline and a longer trunk than the Club Coupe but the doors are the same. I checked the Parts List and that confirms Part Nos 976892 (right) and 976893 (left). Both body styles have the same angled B-pillars. Hope this info helps. Robin.

Steveplym: Really sorry but I'm going to hold on to the P15 hubcaps. Like Bob T, I enjoy sometimes subtly changing the look of the car - adding or removing skirts and/or changing hubcaps or wheeltrims. Claybill: The skirts are from Agape and are steel. They are good quality but the original fit wasn't great on the back edge, so I had them rolled slightly (see pictures, below). The trims are 1941 Buick.

Through running the Rhythm Riot, I've gotten to meet many of the rock'n'roll greats. Below is a list of all the headliners who have played at our festival since 1998. I've also sat and chatted with Ike Turner and Bo Diddley though, sadly, neither ever played at our event. It's been an absolute privilege to meet all these great performers. Guys, I've been planning this change for ages and gradually assembling a good set of 1940 hubcaps. I finally got a set of four caps back from the chromer last week, painted them at the weekend and have just fitted them. I like the slightly more plain design. Here are some pictures, taken a few minutes ago.

Hey Frederic, I like your '40 and it's nice to see more European members on this forum. The guys on here are great - you've definitely come to the right place. Welcome aboard. Robin (UK)
