  1. I am with you Tim, I help my EX sell things on Ebay. I am mainly the shipping dept. I also will find things. I only use snipe bids. If I don't get it well, I didn't get it. We split all of the profits down the middle. I declare all of the profits. I guess if I itemized gas money, portion of the house I use etc. I could probably write off most but I like to sleep at night. Eric
  2. Pat I want to just remove the spindle not the control arms. That is possible isn't it? Eric
  3. Tim, That is going to be a sharp car. What sort of media are you using in your blaster? Was the rear as rust as the front fender is? Eric
  4. Part # 48 and #19. These can be driven out? I have the 10 year old neighbor trying to hurry me up. Eric
  5. Pat I am going to remove the unit as a whole. There are the two pins(more like bolts) that go through the upper and lower arms that hole the unit in. In your pick you can see the end of one I believe with the grease fitting. Eric
  6. I would get fuel to boil out of the carb because the heat bypass was stuck open. The weight moved but not the shaft. I took off my manifolds and blocked it off. I didn't want to go through all of that again. Might not be your problem. Eric
  7. I started with the rt. side. I got the drum off. I got the backing plate off and released the tie rod end. I got the nuts off of the pins that run through the upper and lower control arms. Do I just whack away at the pins to drive them through? Is there tension caused by the coil spring? Thanks, Eric People have mentioned it before but what a load of crud built up around these elements!! I poked with an awl to clear out areas to make sure I could get sockets snug. Has anyone noticed how much sand and gravel gets into the chassis it self? I poked the awl into a few of those holes and it just poured out. I think I will gain a few mph by just lightening the load.
  8. James, thanks. It is an issue I should address. I have to get the car back on the road but there are a few here who are scared to ride with me!! Eric
  9. Don, are you trying to cheer me up? I think I will try getting th eassembly out and have a machine shop do what needs to be done. I was looking at Robert's Motor Parts, is the "King Pin Service package" what I need? Or is this stuff available through NAPA etc? Eric
  10. Bob, I just turned to the previous page in the shop manual DUH!! what a dope!!. Boy oh Boy,( the pretty pictures must have distracted me) It says to "install new bushings, seals, and lock pins". Not a bad idea for saftey if I am going this far. I take it all of these parts are available? Eric
  11. I am looking at the manual and it shows both ends with stakes (top and bottom) how the heck do you drive those out? I see one stake drive horizontally to lock the king pin. I am confused. So you removed the assemble from the upper and lower arms as one unit. Are you redoing all of the Bushings at the same time? Eric
  12. Bob, Thanks, I will give it a shot. I got nothing to lose at this point! ERic
  13. Thanks for the Pics Don, fantastic looking. How that little 6 moves those things is amazing. Eric
  14. Bob, Thanks a lot. I want to put discs up front. Thr dust cap doesn't sound fun to deal with. Thanks. Eric
  15. Donald, you are another of the slackers around here without a picture of the car in your profile!! I am sure I am not the only one who would like to see it. Eric
  16. Donald, with your previous radio work you have already proven your braveness, now the headliner, when will it end!!1 When you mentioned the shoulder belt harness it got me thinking about seatbelts. How does one work around the foot rest behind the front seat? Do you have any pictures of how you did that? Do you go in front of the foot rest by removing the seat cushion? Thanks, Eric
  17. I hope all of this stardom doesn't go to the car's head. Sounds cool. I am not surprised they picked your car. Eric
  18. The day is not done yet!! I always expect the worse and either my expectations are met or it ends up being good to be wrong. ERic
  19. Jim, I did a search through the archives and couldn't find it but Lee Exline has mentioned a place near Des Moines that makes them if I remember correctly. Try Lee. Eric
  20. In the shop manual they are very brief about removing the steering knuckles. What are the "stakes" ? Are they tapered pins? Are they just driven out? Does the king pin then just drop out? I have never done any front end work? Thanks, Eric
  21. I was looking at the shop manual, removing the spindles looks like a sort of difficult job requiring some special tools. No wonder this issue has been hashed out on the forum so many times Eric
  22. James and John, Thanks. That makes a big difference keeping the same wheels and tires. I like the stock look on mine let alone the cost. The fatter tires and more modern wheels look better on the coupes (just my personal preference) unless you have a racer like Don's or Blue skies. Eric
  23. Those look great. The two are just mirrors of eachother? That must get pretty toasty with both working. Eric
  24. Fred and Ed (hey a pair) Fred, I didn't spray!! The front shoe adjustment was easy and the back shoe was ,well easy to brake off. Someone before must have really been torqueing it. I will pull it off tomorrow to see what I have. Ed, I don't regularly come through but from time to time. I might take you up on the backing plate. I will the tire and hub off and see what the heck I come up with. I am half tempted to go to front discs. Never done anything like that before but the brakes have given me a lot of trouble. It has been addressed a lot of times here but I think if I go to discs up front I have to go to different wheels, I like my tires and if I cahnge I would have to shell out a lot more. Thanks, Should be interesting!! Eric
  25. I noticed that the car was still sluggish so I jacked it up and my left front tire wouldn't spin freely. It would go about half the way around and then drag. I tried moving the minor adjusting bolt but it wouldn't budge. I gave it a little more force and it broke off!! I wasn't pushing that hard. I suspect that someone before had over done it. What next? How do I remove the backing plate? I pull the drum and is there just a few bolts that hold the whole braake assembly on? I was looking through the shop manual and it wasn't clear to me. Thanks, Eric
