  1. Today (Thurs) Quite a few vendors, but many were sellers of tools and other new items. They outnumbered individual sellers of misc old parts scrounged from the garage. Did not find a single person with anything for a P15.
  2. How do you say "uugly" in Italian??
  3. Looks very good. Thanks for the info.
  4. There was a guy in some country selling new stuff sometime back. Don't know if this would be him in a different location.
  5. I guess it's a good thing all he really wanted was the title and limited stuff. I wondered how bad some things would REALLY be on those cars.
  6. Knew a fellow once whose Ford Ranger pickup came off the dolly and ran thru someone's yard and hit their house. Don't know how dilligently he checked the straps, etc. Back in the 1970s I used a tow bar behind a standard size four door sedan to drag old cars of the 50s home. Even pulled one clear to Pennsylvania from Missouri with no problems. Have never used a trailer or a dolly, so can't give any experience. But, my take is, I would prefer a trailer with good tiedowns. Son in law took the convert back to Kansas City on his trailer......no problem. Don't know which way will bring it home when he's done working on it............drive or use trailer. He's been working lately on re-upholstering the interior completely, repairing the seats from the springs out......making new door panels and will be installing a new top. Newly done rear seat............... Here's an apparently original seat in a car that was for sale on ebay sometime back..........so mine will look pretty close to when new. From what I can tell, leather seats were also offered, but judging from the pic below.many seemed to be a leather/cloth combination. Mine was all cloth as the original seats were still intact under some seatcovers.
  7. Hello Hugh. Long time no see yer name here. Hope you're doing well. The car mentioned seems to pretty much resemble your great looking Chrysler in it's general style.
  8. Upon enlarging the original picture some, it looks like a Mopar type inside sun visor and rear view mirror, Yes, it does appear to have a spotlight handle and probably a spot behind the windshield post. If you look closely - it seems that the topmost horn ring is attached to the original horn center with a screw. They were trying to fancy things up. Good old pic, thanks.
  9. Nice looking car, Bill. Came out great. As said, trim rings are available thru hot rod sources both big and small. An early 49 should have 15 inch wheels. Greg's look like smooth style. Here's a pic lifted from ebay of some ribbed rings...................
  10. I see my spelling on the above post was a bit off at the last. Should say "am at the club now". The smart phone isn't perfect as I turned off spell check feature recently. Well, anyway, I see no answers so far. In the pics, the car, which he is having shipped from Pennsylvania, is kind of rough in some areas - needs new floors, but other areas are pretty nice.....like engine bay, dash, and body. Still has the original appearing engine. I gave him name of this forum and said he could either lurk or join up and probably someone would have some info for him eventually. It is a convertible coupe style. So, will see of he shows up. I just told him it is pretty rare these days and I did not know what sort of value it has. Apparently there is still a car collection at the hotel that formerly was the Imperial Palace........now called The Quad. Did not go as not enough time to do everything and were with some other people. You can look that place up on the net and see pics of most of the cars there. Well, anyway, back home today. That town is busy, busy and seems to have gotten even bigger since we were last there probably 15 years ago. Don't think we will go again, but was interesting to see.
  11. Here at the House of Blues in Las Vegas tonight the bass player intje band said he has one and showed me some pics. Would like more info on it. Am at the clin now
  12. Thanks for the input. Will try to attend and see what they have. ( A bit of a jump from home at over 1000 miles from Joplin..... so I probably will go only this once)
  13. So..........you gonna buy it at the new cheaper price?
  14. The event takes place Nov 14 thru 17 at Festival Park there. They charge admission to get in and it varies from day to day, with Friday the highest at $10. Apparently put on by the Carlisle people. They are billing it as one of the largest automotive swap meets in the world. As it stands now, we will be spending about 3 weeks in Zephyrhills, going with another couple..... his daughter owns a house there which we will use. And the show/swap just happens to fall during our time there. Be interesting to see if there is any more old Plymouth stuff there than other places I have been. Just asking in case anyone has any experience with this doings.
  15. The car sits higher than normal.......I wonder what modifications they may have done to the suspension. At least this one seems to pretty much have its original trim pieces. Many have strange home made items.
  16. Oh yes......I did forget.........I have also used a paint pen. They work pretty well too. It always makes the car look sharper with those emblems and names painted.
  17. Zephyr---have you cleaned out the gas tank and replaced any inline fuel filter? If no inline filter, you might want to add one. Is your fuel pump in good order and clean inside? You could make some type of temporary small gas tank for short test drives.
  18. Another underhood/under dash item that comes to mind is the drain tube from the bottom of the cowl vent, out thru a hole in the firewall. If you look at the above picture, you'll see a clear plastic tube that I use for that purpose. It should really be black rubber, but I used something I had handy. I think there is a loop type clamp a ways down to hold it to the firewall.
  19. I think I've just been putting 30 weight or maybe 10w-40 as used in the car in the air cleaner. Guess it must work OK as I've had the car for a long time....and can't think of any problems. Have even used the cleaner without the support brace....it didn't go anywhere. As I recall, the lower end of the brace goes in behind the frontmost bolt and flange that attaches the oil filter.
  20. Guess I'm just old fashioned.....use Testor's red model car paint and one of those little model car brushes. A rag with some paint thinner for any boo-boos. Holds up fairly well, but won't last forever. Some good ideas above however.
  21. Looking good. From the pics it reminds me of a P15 I had once that was a sort of blue-green. All that stuff will come off the dash - all you gotta do is stand on your head and look under there.... been there, done that. I recently acquired a N O S P15 radio grille I'd like to install but not looking forward to the gymnastics.
  22. Here's a door on a convert that someone has re-done. Strip doesn't look real tall.
  23. If anyone has a vinyl or carpet trim strip on the bottom of their P15 doors......below that stainless strip..........how tall is that piece of trim? It looks to be about 4 or 5 inches tall. Am trying to determine the size in regard to putting some carpet along the bottom of my doors.....as it was on the original. Thanks in advance for any info.
  24. Sounds like a dandy show. We have our largest area show of the year coming up third weekend of October.......the Maple Leaf show (with small swap meet area) in Carthage, MO. A one day event with maybe four to five hundred cars if the weather is nice. Not as large as some, but I always enjoy it and see a few people I know. However, this year, I have a conflicting event which takes precedence over the cars...........so I won't be there. Darn. This super nice DeSoto usually turns up.........owned by a young couple from the area.
