I was able to check all the boxes. I worked on the carburator linkage today so it will work properly. I had it put together before but it just didn’t seem right. Posted a help message and Brad stepped up to help with lots of pictures. Let me know what you think. I bought my truck from the original owner over 25 years ago and still working on it. Still working on the brakes. I’ll get it done one of these days. I hope everyone has as much fun as I had today.

How did you determine the amount to be taken off the length of the brake pedal rod?

Merle, yes he did stamp all the numbers for me. I think he did a great job.

Thanks for the picture. As it turned out the holes were there, I just couldn't see them because of the dirt. The plate came in yesterday and it looks great. Steve at DCM Classics did a great job. Fast turnaround. Took me longer to find two screws the right size that look alike than it took to mount it. Thanks again for everyone's help.

The holes have been filled in. I’m hoping once I get the rough location I can pick at it until it reveals itself. Then I can drill it out and attach the replacement tag. Thanks for your help.

I won’t waste your time with all the details but I had to order a replacement door pillar ID tag for my 52 3/4 ton truck. Can someone give me a measurement where the top hole is located?

Welcome to the group. Nice looking truck. Looks like you have a good start. Many of the guys here have almost total wrecks to start with. Great bunch of guys in the group. For the most part everyone is very positive and helpful. If you plan on upgrading the master cylinder, go all the way and do a front disc brake conversion. Check out “Rusty Hope”. He has a nice setup and well engineered. He will provide you with all the information you need for the conversion. Good luck and send more pictures, we love pictures. For those of you that might be interested in what your truck is worth. This was a very nice truck. I did not get a chance to see the under carriage. I have seen some of your trucks and there are a lot of them out there just as nice, if not better. Congratulations to the seller and the new owner.

They are brand new rotors. This is the second attemp installing this kit. I had an older set of brackets that I tried to install, but I must have had them on backwards. Charlie sent me a new, updated set which is what I used. That’s the only reason there are some marks on the rotors, but they are smother than they look.

I took some time to work on my brakes this weekend. I purchesed one of Charlie Akers kits a while ago and I am just now getting around to installing it. His kits are made and fit well. I test fit it before paint. I wasn’t able to complete both sides because paint drys soooo slow. I was able to complete the right side, paint on the left is still drying. Below are some pictures of the test fit and the last one is the completed work.

Well, finally getting my truck back from the shop. My friend had it in his shop for over a year trying to work on it, but he got so busy he didn't have time to finish. Next week I'll take it to the muffler shop for the exhaust. Then I'll try and tackle the "rev" problem. BKHLER noted that the linkage was installed incorrectly, so that is where I'll start. Hopefully that's the problem and I'll be set. Fingers crossed.

You might have a good point. Your’s makes mine look incorrect. I’m going to redo mine and I’ll let you know how I make out.

Jim, Off the top of my head I cant remember. I have been accumulating parts literally for years until I had time to install everything. I think I still have the box so I’ll check the part number when I get home.

Thanks for your thoughts. I’ll check it out as soon as I get home after Thanksgiving. I’m spending time with my sister’s family in Broken Arrow OK and my grandson from Army Ft. Sill OK.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted something but I follow regularly. I have had my truck at my friends garage for over a year installing my front disc brake kit from Rusty Hope, the dual master cylinder from a Jeep as well as my dual carb setup. We got it running but it idles at full throttle. We tried adjusting the linkage but that didn’t help. I rebuilt the carbs a few years ago and we’re getting fuel to both carbs. Other than that I don’t know what to add. Any thoughts or questions that might help me diagnose the problem?

Kevin, your Erie agent is correct. I should have been a little more clear. Erie’s antique vehicle coverage will only cover vehicles that are eligable on their standard auto policy. Flat beds and larger trucks are not eligable on a standard policy. They have to go on a commerical policy. Cars and pick up trucks are not a problem. I hope that helps.

I’m an Erie agent and they now offer agreed value coverage for antique and classic cars. I also sell classic car insurance through American Modern Insurance. I have had some claims experence with them and they were great. No hassles and no deductibles for either collision or comprehensive. One of the disadvantages to American Modern is the no towing restrictions. They also require that the vehicle must be stored in a fully enclosed, locked garage. Erie insurance does not have these restrictions. Hagerty, American Modern and Erie have very similar rates. You have to consider everything and not just look at the premium. The lowest premium is not always the best policy.
