  1. Yeah...this is the one I have and it bolts right up to the '49 Dodge engine. It apperently is the same size as the former transmission that was on the '55 Ply engine I had previously. The mechanic told me that the drive shaft won't have to be altered. So that is good news there.
  2. Okay, guys. This helps a a lot. Now, I have to look for the trim. I know a guy that does fabrication, so maybe I can rig something.
  3. Fred, I'm not sure if this was meant for me, but I didn't see a "Dave" that posted on this thread, so I guess it may have been. Anyway, I didn't see how the seats were done. I just dropped them off and picked them up. I didn't understand what you meant when you said.."Now to find a yard that will let me strip of the interior." Maybe you can clearify it. If you want the name of the the place that sells the interior, let me know. I'm sure they ship and the material is good and very reasonable. Darin
  4. I know that there was never any stainless window trim made for the 1946-48 P15 club coupes, but I saw a 1947 Chrysler 2-door coupe the other day and noticed that it had it. My question is if the window trim on the Chrysler can be made to fit on the P15 windows? I think this would give the car a classier look. Personally, I don't see why they never put stainless trim on the side windows, as well as the back, in the first place.
  5. Rockwood- I made my own door panels with the vinyl strip on the bottom using the old stainless strip that separates the fabric from the vinyl (that was a b**** to do, but it paid off and looks original). I used 1/8 inch thick pressboard that I got from Home Depot with white vinyl backing to keep any water or moisture from penetrating through and warping the panel. I don't know what route you are taking, but I went original classic style. There is a fabric shop near where I live in Rialto, California that has the "close to original" material that was used on the doors and back of the seats. It's soft to the touch, too. As far as the seat interior...I had to scout around for 40's style striped material. The Le Barron Bonney material was way out of my affordability, but I didn't want to resort to "new car" material either. I got the headliner from EZ Boy Interiors for a very reasonable price and it fit like a glove, not to mention, looks like the original stuff that was there before. They have assorted colors, too. http://www.rodinteriors.com/headliner-bow-type Darin
  6. Getting ready to have the overdrive transmision rebuilt. There is a diode (I think it's called) and some other electronic device on it that I want to have replaced. Does anyone know what these two parts are and where I can get them? Not sure about what car the overdrive came off of (since it was found seperate from the engine), so I have no idea if it's from a Plymouth or Dodge, but it butts right up to the '49 Dodge engine...so it may have been originally with it....can't be sure though. There are a lot of numbers on it, so which ones would tell me what exactly what year and model the trans is...etc?
  7. Nah....I don't feel that I need to be a member of two clubs to be in one. If it were just one club, that would be okay. I knew my posting would cause some controversy, but I still stand strong on my opinions about chops. All I know is that mine will never see a saw taken to it....at least as long as I own it.
  8. Oooooh...don't be so quick to make me the "official" critic. You've had your share of being a critic on here yourself.
  9. Yes, folks...another great P15 found it's way into a young buyer, only to be butchered and have it's top cut off. This once beautiful 1947 business coupe recently met it's fate just a few weeks ago. As the saying goes...another one bites the dust. RIP '47 business coupe. Awaiting the slaughter. The slaughter begins. Point of no return. Decapitated. Ooops...now what? Should have left it alone. A sad sight
  10. Yeah...he's popular now with the rockabilly scene.
  11. That I wouldn't know, but if so...he had a good car to be vagrant in.
  12. For those of you old enough to remember rock 'n roller, Link Wray, who had a big hit in 1958 called "Rumble," it might be interesting to know that he owned a 1946-48 Plymouth, as seen here in this pic. Here's proof that famous people always start off with a Plymouth...LOL!
  13. Hey...speaking of the seal...I'm about ready to put mine on. Does the cowl vent have to come out of the car to do this or can it be put on without removing it?
  14. It is two tone...look real close.
  15. That's a real shiny silver. Is that how shiny the original was? The reason I ask is because mine is almost completed and the only spray paint that I could find for high heat was aluminum. The mechanic said that the engine had more of a duller silver. Speaking of that...where can I buy the correct silver paint for the engine?
  16. Those are nice...there's nothing like the classic look.
  17. Hey, Norm. That smoke cloud is moving towards my way now. This is s sign that the onshore flow is back. Right now the sun has an orange tint to it and so does everthing it's shining on.
  18. Okay...went down to Finish Masters today and had a quart of the exterior green mixed up and gray steel blue...to the best that we could match it, according to the above pic. I think this will look better than black. I'll post pics of the results in a couple days. Thanks again for all the help!
  19. Okay, Bob...That solves a lot of the mystery. I'll go down to the auto paint store and have them mix up a quart of the exterior paint for the firewall. Now all I need to do is find that steel blue-gray paint and I'll be set. The Rustolium paint I thought was it is a different gray.
  20. Hmmm...the picture is kind small, even on the link. There is a Rustoleum color that looks similar to this one that I used on my steering wheel and column. Yeah, if you get the formula, that would be great! I have no sample to take down because the original color was sprayed over years ago'
  21. According to the reference info on painting the P15 inside engine area, what color gray was used to paint up under the hood, inside fenders, panel, fire wall...etc. What would be the closet match with today's paint and would it be flat, semi-gloss or gloss? (This isn't mentioned in the reference, from what I can see).
  22. Sorry...there is no car, in my opinion, worth almost 2 million dollars. I don't even car if Elvis farted in it, it's still not worth it. I'm sure Ebay is going to get a nice slice of the pie on this one.
  23. Can a honeycomb rad be recored?
  24. Man, why did the owner of that car get rid of his original hood ornament for that one? The illuminating plastic piece of the 46-48 ornaments is what makes the car. It's like going to a steakhouse and asking for a hamburger...sheesh!
  25. I've had my radiator checked and it cannot be rodded anymore, due to rust. I've had two places tell me that and they said that it's seen better days. All the quotes I'm getting are in the $400 range for a newly rebuilt radiator, which won't have the honeycomb pattern anymore when they are finished. Any ideas?
