  1. Where, actually, is the hole? On the bottom of the column or the stearing box? Mike, do you have an exploded pic of that in your book? That would really help.
  2. 28 hits on this post and no one on here knows anything about these? Come on, guys. BTW...I did find some nuts from the Early Ford store near where I live that I bought that will work for the time being, but they aren't the round ring type.
  3. The old wire is completely gone. Do I just shove the wire through and hope it comes out the hole? That column may be too loong for a coat hanger.
  4. What's the easiest way to get the horn wire through the stearing column without having to take the column out...or does the column have to come out for this? Is there a hole on the bottom of the column near the stearing box where the wire comes out? I looked and couldn't find one.
  5. Thanks to you guys, my wiring guy has decided to just go ahead and connect the ammeter and use it as described in your posts. I made a copy of them and had him read what was explained and he realized that it would work, of course. Anyway, thanks for helping out here. It saved me from having to have a conversion done.
  6. ...the exterior ring nut that screws onto the wiper arm assembly that sticks through the cowl into the chrome housing that holds it in to the cowl got lost in the acid vat when it was being chromed. I'm having the hardest time trying to find a replacement...even a nut big enough to fit, yet thin enough to get by for the time being. Anyway, does anyone know where I can get one of these ring nuts or maybe have an extra or two laying around to sell? Hopefully, I'm explaining this part correctly, since I don't know the technical name for it. I tried to snap a pic, but my downloading software is messed up.
  7. Sorry about that. Sorry about that.
  8. I had the same friendly "customer service" from, who I assume, was Mr. Bernbaum himself. Really knows how to make the customer feel like he or she is stupid or something, not to mention the "you buy it and it doesn't work...don't return it" policy. I told the guy, after I got frustrated with him, that it must be nice to have a business where you really must not need customers. Then, I hung up. I'm glad a lot of you guys warned me about him. Luckily I didn't buy anything from him. Especially, after reading some of the bad experiences that others have had. Hopefully, all the people that are new to the Mopar family, like me, can see these postings before ordering from him. I also hope he reads these postings so he can see what poor customer service he offers to prosperous customers. I did end up with buying from Roberts, and I agree that they are very coordial.
  9. Norm and Don...let me refrase that. What I meant to say is that with the peep mirrors I had trouble adjusting the mirror portion because it wouldn't swivel where the arm connected with the mirror in back. I couldn't adjust them in and out correctly so that I could see what was behind me. They rotate or something, but never good enough to get the correct adjustment. The JC mirrors swivel well and are very adjustable because they have the three screws in the back for tightening and losening. I did have to squeeze the mounting bracket with plyers a bit so that the little screws wouldn't go through when I tightened them. I think they look pretty close to period correct, even though I've never seen what the original P15 side mirrors looked like. This is the guy that sells the exact mirrors I was talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/36-37-38-39-40-41-42-47-48-49-50-51-52-Plymouth-Mirrors_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34204QQitemZ280095635776QQrdZ1
  10. Don...I bought the same pair from J.C Whitney a couple of weeks ago and I think they look pretty cool, plus they work great. I had some peep mirrors that I got off of Ebay that were supposed to be like the originals, but the only thing is that they didn't adjust without almost tweeking the back part of the mirror.
  11. Yeah....this guy must be pricing at a restored price. Especially, for a four-door. My former neighbor had a bunch of old, run-down classic cars that he would try to sell at what they would be worth restored. He tried to sell me a '54 Merc H/T with body damage and a caved in roof for $4500 six years ago. Not to mention that it had wasp nests in it and it looked like it had been dragged out of a lake. He actually thought I would buy it, too.
  12. Got a call today from the guy that's rewiring my car and he told me that with the new harness the amps meter wont work because it's now running on volts???? He said I need to get a volt meter guage, which would change the instrument board. Have any of you guys run into this problem when rewiring and switching from 6 to 12 volt?
  13. Yeah Business C...that is a nice looking car. That's how they should look...all original. Now all you need to do is paint "taxi" on it and put some black checkers and you'll be set...LOL!
  14. Thanks, Bob. I was looking for these. Did you get my email?
  15. Norm...I didn't know that you were that partial to mods. I mean, judging by your car, I would have never guessed.
  16. Jeff...looks like you still might be able to save it. Get that ugly 80's paint off of it and find a nice, orginal color...that's if you are restoring it to original and get the original tail lights back on. Also, get rid of the cheap-looking upholstery. Do that and you'll have a real nice ride.
  17. What about the good links?
  18. Yeah, Don. I have, but some of the links don't exists anymore. Probably time for some updating, I'd say. Robert's seems to be pretty good, but they don't show too many pictures to see how it actually looks.
  19. Yeah...I went to their site, but you have to order their catalog and I need to order something like tomorrow. This stuff is on Brenbaum's site, but everyone seems to caution him.
  20. Need to get some things for the car and want some opinions of where the best place is to get them. Here's the shopping list: 1. Wiper base pivot pads 2. Gas filler neck grommet 3. Gas, brake and clutch shaft seals 4. Firewall grommets 5. cowl vent rubber (one piece formed and complete) 6. brake and clutch bolt on pedals Also...where can I get the little pins that hold the window cranks and door handles in place? They almost look like circumfrence of the wire used on a coat hanger.
  21. Sorry guys...I didn't clearify. That is just a pic I found on the internet to give an example. I couldn't find any stills from the movie of the Plymouths. You'll have to rent it to see the cars. Just something to do on a boring day...LOL!
  22. The other day I rented and watched "Bugsy" with Warren Beatty. I was amazed at how many P15 's I saw in there. They were mainly used as taxies or police cars and were all for door sedans, but there were still a lot in there. It seems to me that many P15's were used as taxies and police cars, back then.
  23. Looking at those cars there makes it look like time stood still. Actually, since 1959, time has stood still in Cuba, as far as American cars and goods are concerned. It's amazing how they still keep them going. Are they still using the original emgines in them or do you think they have dropped other engines in?
  24. I bought some of these "trim-to-fit" moulding clips that work great. Of course, the place from the clip below charges a lot for them, but there is a place in Upland, California called Allen's Fasteners that has them pretty cheap. If anyone is interested, I'll post hie business phone # or you guys can do a yellow pages search, as well. http://northlandfasteners.biz/Store/product_info.php?cPath=25_100&products_id=2049
  25. hey...John...hope you had as much fun as I did...LOL!
