  1. Try these guys. I bought my custom made headliner from them and it was a perfect fit at a reasonable price, too. There are also a lot of nice photos so you can see what you are getting. http://www.rodinteriors.com/
  2. Don't you like that? Just be for Christmas. Nice guys, huh?

  5. Oh...those days are long gone, Dennis. There's not a hint of any ranches around here anymore.
  6. Hey guys...thanks for troubleshooting this problem for me. I sent this thread onto him to read so he can get a better idea, too. I have total faith in him because he is a good mechanic; as he is just as confused as some of you are on this freeze plug issue. The freeze plugs that came with the distibution tube a a kit came from Robert's. I recall that the plugs were steel colored. I don't know if they were steel or aluminum. The two that have popped out so far have been the two on the bottom. The top ones haven't shown signs of any leakage. Again, the engine is a D30 with a P26 head and crank. Since the engine that was in there was a P26 when I bought it, the air cleaner was already a filter type from 1955, so I don't know if the brace will go with it. Anyway, we'll see what happens now, but I know the feedback here will help him solve the issue. Thanks, again!
  7. No, I haven't seen it as of yet. I try not drive around Pomona as much as possible because of all the crazy drivers...most of them being unlicensed, unexperienced, uninsured and think they are still driving on the ranch or small town they came from. Go figure!
  8. It was good seeing you too, Bob. Remember I pointed out to you one of the freeze plugs that looked like it was leaking? Well, after I left your place, I decided to take a spin to Hesperia and see a girl I know. The car seemed to be doing okay when I started up Cajon Pass, driving on the old Route 66 down below the 15 freeway. As I got pass the 138, the engine was bogging down in 3rd/overdrive, so I pulled over, stopped, pulled the O/D cable to disengage it and started back out (Mind you, this is where that steep part of the climb starts). It seemed to be taking off pretty well and also had a little more power, but the engine was really racing in 3rd at 50mph. I got about two miles and started smelling anti-freeze. I looked at my temp gauge and it was at about 170. So, I pulled over off the freeway at a turnout and then the gauge started to move up quickly so I shut off the engine. Got out and opened the hood and there was steam coming out from the bottom side of the engine. Yep! The freeze plug that was in question had popped out. After saying a few unmentionables, I started walking to the call box to call AAA because I didn't have my cell phone on me. As I was walking to the call box, a semi pulled over and it turned out to be a former student of mine from about 10 years back. He let me use his cell phone to call a tow truck and then we chatted and I showed him the car while I waited. Within 25 minutes, the the flatbed was there and probably one of the best tow truck drivers I had ever delt with. This guy had total respect for the car and went to great lengths to make sure he didn't scratch any of the chrome by wrapping the chains with rags and duct tape and raising it on to the flatbed carefully. When we got to the mechanic, I gave him a $20 tip for taking extra care. When John, the mechanic, saw me drive ride up in the tow truck with the car on the back, he hung his head. He felt so bad that he reimbursed me for the tip I gave the driver. He said that he couldn't understand why they were popping out because the cooling system isn't pressurized. I remembered that I have a 9 lb pressure radiator cap on there and was curious if that caused pressure. He said that it could be, but he doubted it. Nonetheless, he will look into it. Anyway, the car is back in shop and John is looking for better freeze plugs...the kind that you can tighten and they expand. I think the one the popped out was steel or brass. Apart from the freeze plugs popping out, the car runs and handles beautifully like you said.
  9. Just wanted to mention on here that until this last Sunday I was pretty down in the dumps about how poorly the car was running, so I gave Norm in Glendora a call and he had me go up there to look things over. Turns out the the timing was too advanced and the carburator mixture was not set right, even though I had tried to attempt it. Sure enough, Norm found the problems and fixed them. I watched so that I would know how to do it myself next time. After he did the adjustment, we took the car for a drive up the street and off the road we saw a P15 sedan and a couple other older cars parked in the yard. We drove in and two older gentlemen were chatting. Turns out that one of the guys had just purchased the 1948 P15 sedan and has plans to restore it. He also had a '35 and '40 Ford coupe, 1940 Ford truck and a newly purchased 1950 Ford 2-door sedan. He said he's normally a Ford guy, but wants to try a Plymouth for a change. After we got back to Norm's house, he helped me install the original style wolf whistle that I had purchsed a day before at Mooneyes. Since I don't use the throttle anymore, we rigged it to work off of that knob. With a little practice I'll have the whistling sequence just right. Nonetheless, it's a crack up to see girl's expressions when I pass by and sound it...even the older ladies blush. LOL Thanks again, Norm...now I'm a happy camper!
  10. ...this will do me fine. $15.00 at Walmart...can't beat it.
  11. Yeah...to myself, and that will do it for me this year. Now, on to shopping for the rest.
  12. Gee, David...I thought I gave you the comments...LOL! Anyway, I called and talked to Sal today. Real nice guy to talk to. The front mat costs $179 and about $18 to ship by USPS. I'm going to send the money order out tomorrow. Thans for the help guys!
  13. Thanks, Dave. It really does look nice. Let's just hope he hasn't gone up too high in price since then. I'm not woried about what's underneath, I just want it to look original.
  14. Is there anyone on here that has bought a P15 floor mat from Sal Salerno that can give me some info about the mat? I need to know if it looks original (or pretty darn close to), how much they cost, quality, durability and how long it took to ship? Also, if you have a pic of how it looks that would be great. My NOS one I got on Ebay last year is falling apart on me before my eyes and trying to repair them is virtually impossible.
  15. That's interesting, Bob. I merely want one because I forget to turn mine off. Either get that or a directional signal that automatically shuts off. I think the high beam/directional indicator would be keener. =)
  16. Wow...how many pieces are there all together?
  17. Man, I'd sure like to find one of those, and also the stearing column directional unit that went with it.
  18. I remember a while back, on the old board, someone had posted a pic of the high beam indicator that goes on the dashboard, but this one had arrows on both sides serving as indicators for the right and left directional signal. I was searching for the post, but nothing was turning up in the archives. Does anyone remember that post? Was that an optional item on P15's or did it go on the Dodges, DeSotos or Chryslers instead?
  19. Hey Norm...I was driving the Plymouth last night and it was cold, but boy does that heater really keep things toasty inside. As long as I keep the cowl vent open a bit, the back window doesn't fog up. I guess this was the way they regulated things back then.
  20. No, I would never throw it out. I still hae the P26 block and trans that went to it, but I am getting ready to offer them on here. I'm going to stop by the mechanic's on Monday and take pics of all the stuff I have left over from the rebuild. This Carter carb I have has been rebuilt recently. Something keeps happening with the float that causes the gas to leak out of the bowl when the engine is off. I had the guy who fixed it try to do something with the float, but he says it's just old and thee's only so much more he can do with it. It's also causing bad performance and probably leading to bad gas mileage, which isn't good at $3.35 a gallon right now.
  21. What other brands are out there that I can put on it? Mine is shot and unrepairable. (hairline crack).
  22. Here ya go, Dennis: http://www.earlyfordstore.com/tour_images/index.htm
  23. I followed the lead from a posting on here about the 1940's Fords used the same kind of wiper arms the Plymouths did. So I went to local place that sells antique Ford parts only. Took my Plymouth ones in and sure enough found almost exact remakes meant to go on 1942-48 Fords. Not only were they new and shiney, but they fit perfect and have great tenion. $15 a pop! Not bad, ey? Ok rain...I'm ready for ya!
  24. There's a place out near where I live that sells those and I bought some. The only problem is that they are not made for the trim pieces that are offset, like the front fender trim for example. Though they went in nicely, the trim was off center. So they did no good for me.
