  1. Steve...a lot of people have told me that they like that gray. In my opinion, gray is boring for an exterior color, but looks good inside, since many of the cars from that period had gray dashes and moulding trim. You are right about the solid painted dash giving it a clean look. If the woodgrain had been okay, I still would have painted it because the woodgrain gives it too much of an "antique" look. Again, the gray is called Airwing Gray and was an option on all the 1946-48 Plymouths.
  2. Here, Eric. Knock yourself out! LOL! http://www.rodinteriors.com/headliner-bow-type
  3. Are the window cranks in the back seat area shorter than the ones in the front seat? (this is for the 2-door coupe) Reason being is because when I installed the window cranks yesterday, I noticed that the back seat ones were rubbing on the panels as I cranked them downward. When I got the car, it had no window cranks in the back, so I was never sure. I just got what I could off of Ebay and they were all large ones. I do have a small, stray one sitting around, but wasn't sure what it went to.
  4. Bob- I didn't go the woodgrained route on my car because (1) It costs too much to have done and I'm not talented enough to do it myself and (2) I like the solid colors better. The mouldings and dash are painted the original color the exterior of the car was, which was Airwing Gray. Nonetheless, the color compliments the rest of the interior. Regarding the headliner....I think if I had tried to install it myself I would have messed it up, no doubt. I leave the technical stuff to the pros. Norm (Normspeed) I'm getting the electronic distributor dropped in tomorrow, so I'm good to go to get out your way. See ya soon.
  5. One thing about this fabric material is that it smudges and soils quickly. I'm constantly wiping smudges off it that seem to mysteriously appear.
  6. Thanks, guys! I had the upholstery done in sections to save money. After I found out that to have the entire inside of the car done was going to cost $2000-$4500, I decided to have different people do different parts and I would do what I could. The seats I had done here in Pomona by a guy who used to do upholstery on cars in Tijuana in the 1950's. A lot of "high end" guys have discovered him, so his pricing has sort of gone to his head, but he did great work on the seats. The only reason I had him do the seats is because he had that nice, original-looking material that he wasn't going to sell by itsself. (He was the one that quoted me at $4500 to do the whole inside). The headliner I ordered from EZ Rod Interiors and had it installed by another local guy. The headliner looks original and fits great and I highly recommend EZ Rod Interiors to anyone.
  7. Yikes! I don't even go in there with food, since I have a habit to spill, myself.
  8. Here's an update on my interior. Right now, all I have is a pic of the front of the car showing the true color and some of the seats and headliner. I managed to do the panels myself and will post pics of those later. Let me know what you think.
  9. Let me know if you find them. Thanks!
  10. If anyone has any ashtrays for the backseat section of the P15 2-door coupe that they might want to get rid of or sell, please get in touch with me. These are the ones that go in the side panels. I don't care about the condition of the finish, but do prefer that the plastic knobs be in nice shape, if possible. Thanks! Darin
  11. Ok...with all this info, let me see if any of these things mentioned might be the problem. I'll get back on this later today. Thanks, guys!
  12. Can anyone tell me what would be some good signs that the clutch linkage springs are at the point of breaking or snapping? I noticed now that the pedal only returns to the point to where it's ready to engage instead of back to where there you have the few inches of free play. Usually, I have to take my foot put it behind the pedal to move it back up to it's normal position with the brake pedal. This might be a lubracation problem, but the thing is that it wasn't doing it a week ago. Also, the spring(s) seem to make a creaking noise...sort of reminding me of the sound my clutch cable made on my '74 Capri before it would snap. I think the springs are probably original or at least second generation by the way they look. Can anyone shed some light on this?
  13. Okay...I can't find the postings about blueskies' problems with the HEI distributor. Can you give me an idea what thread it's in?
  14. Actually, Don, I ordered the HEI because a lot of guys on here recomended it, and I'm sure if it works for them, it should work for me. I'll have to look into what problems blueskies has had. I didn't know he was having any with it.
  15. Christopher...for what it's worth, I just did away with the old style distributor and now have an HEI distributor coming in the mail. I'm sure it will have all new bushings on it. The bushings on my old one were so bad that the distributor would slightly move from side to side.
  16. Sorry Bob...I was away for the weekend. Yes, the frame is slightly bent outward a little near where the handle is connected and it sometimes doesn't turn up because the button jams and can't be pushed in. The rubber came from Steele and seems to fit real well.
  17. Okay...someone must know something about this topic.
  18. I installed the windwing rubber today and noticed that the window won't close tight against it after pull it's closed and I turn down the chrome handle lock. There is some looseness and play to it and it looks like the window may have been forced open at one time. It obvious that it needs to be replaced, but how? It looks to be rivoted into the frame of the window. Would it be better to try to find a better window with a handle lock that's not tweeked or can this be repaired? Any ideas?
  19. Bob- Were there any P-15s in there? All I saw were Chevys and Fords...as usual.
  20. Guys....the bid is starting at $50 and it has a reserve, so who knows how much he wants for it (I'm sure it won't be $50). Usually, with a reserve they want a lot, but don't want to show how much...in most cases. Just contact him through Ebay and tell him to cut to the chase and tell you what he really wants for it. This Ebay reserve thing is for the birds!
  21. Actually, the people that told me that it didn't look right are older guys that remember the cars from that era. Of course, this one neighbor that mentioned this to me also told me that my Plymouth originally wasn't 6v...so I tend to take what he says with a grain of salt. I'll post a pic of how mine is and let you guys judge it from there. It seems to me that when the shifter knob tends to come pretty close to my leg.
