  1. Niel , Let us know how it comes out . I am curious myself . I wonder if this is the process used by the guys who make the emblems that are plastic on steel . Very colorful .
  2. Great ! So was it the choke ?
  3. I also put one on like that a couple of years ago . No problems . I am fanatical about re-torking though , several times , not just once . Of course the head and block must be perfectly flat .
  4. You can buy an ABS plastic kit from www.quietride.com they arrive in black but can be painted . My truck is older so your kit would be different than mine . I like my kit very well .
  5. Every now and then I see one of the old tire busting machines on Craigslist at a good price . I would be leary of a light duty contraption as it takes a lot of force .
  6. Very interesting place . What is the owners policy , does he usually let people in to pull their own parts ? Or is it more conventional where he pulls the parts while you wait ? And tell us about the fleas as mentioned earlier , if I get a flea bite , it bothers me for 2 months . The owner must be a character to have a stash like that .
  7. [quote name=B1B Keven ...< snip > My key is also round' date=' but what bothers me is it'll work teeth up and teeth down. Probably sometime in the past , most or all of the pins in your lock have been removed . A screwdriver in the key slot might even turn the keyway .
  8. I don't know , but if it is to be converted to solid state , wouldn't they gut all of that stuff anyway ?
  9. I also received new 6 volt LED s from Superbright . During installation I discovered a wire in my system that was attached to the wrong spot . After about 3 days of head scratching I connected the wire in the correct spot and I now have bright tail - brake - and turn signal lights using the original incandescent bulbs . The brake lights are shown in the photo but they look brighter in real life .http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u30/spotty_bucket/P1010129-1.jpg[/img]"
  10. An easy way to check your brake lights at night is to back up next to your garage door and step on the brakes and look out the rear window .
  11. Those compression readings are fine .
  12. From what I have read elsewhere , your ordinary flasher will work if you are using regular incandescent bulbs in your system someplace , like your front turn signals . I also have read that you can just put an incandescent bulb anywhere in the circuit to draw enough current to make your old flasher work .
  13. John , I found the following information on their site for those two LED s ; " non-polarized bulb for positive ground vehicles " .
  14. John , You might have discovered a problem there . I didn't find anything on their site about polarity , perhaps I missed it though . My own bulbs are negative ground . I sent the company an email so will see how they respond . UPDATE ; I have a reply from superbrightled ; " our 6 volt LED s will all work with a negative ground " But he doesn't say that they won't work with a positive ground . I should have sent him my question in a different format .
  15. John , I ordered replacements for my 6 volt number 1154 bulbs . The 6volt 1154 bulbs have the same base as 12 volt 1157 bulbs . So their LED listing shows them as replacements for 1157 bulbs . When you choose the LED replacements on their site , you punch in 6 volt . you will also be punching in RED if you have red lenses . The next option that you will enter is restricted to only one choice because of your previous choices . Here is the info ; 2 | 1157-x19-xV: 19-LED 1157 Bulb | $ 7.95 | 1157-R19-6V: Red 15 Degree 6VDC
  16. Today I ordered some LED stop/tail light bulbs , 6 volt from superbrightleds.com . Good price at $8 each and cheap shipping . They are in the USA .
  17. I had one like that on my engine for a while , only it was reversed with the cup side in . Didn't leak either .
  18. Mine has a copper washer there but I haven't had it apart .
  19. It's nice when it ends well . If I were to look for something loose in the steering , I would just grab parts and start shacking them to see what wiggled .
  20. 1939 Dodge also was without the dipstick tube .
  21. Not much rust on those cars .
  22. Another option is stainless steel strips .
  23. If the condenser in your distributor is rated too high , a buildup will occur on one side of your points . If it is rated too low , the buildup will occur on the other half of your points . So you need one that is rated just right . The Motors Manuals gives the recommended ratings for each vehicle .
