  1. I wonder if it would do any good to report the matter to the local police ? Perhaps money has to change hands before it is considered a crime . I remember a few years back when I had a home advertised for rent , someone else was advertising my house for rent on craigslist . I think that is what the cops told me , no money... no crime . That is a very nice car , welcome .
  2. There have been previous posts on a product called TUFF STUFF sold at Walmart and O'Reillys Auto Parts stores . It worked like magic on some interior fabric shown in photos .
  3. When the old rubber tire valves are removed , the base of the old stem might fit . They often break apart anyway when removed from the tire rim . I could be wrong as I had heard something about this several years ago . If they are the right size , they should be free at the tire stores .
  4. Here is one source to try ... www.vapinc.co then go to mopar index , then go to brake drums .
  5. You might read through the thread ' Acceleration Problem ' started by Joe Flanagan . You will find a lot of information on a couple of distributor wires . On your wire without insulation ... your insulation might have fallen off .
  6. Today I made up some lead wires from 2.00 mm solder wick . The terminals are crimped and soldered . I put heat shrink tubing one one and that one seemed a little stiff , your heat shrink tubing may vary . I coated another one with liquid tape and I prefer the liquid tape .
  7. Lots of these trucks came without an oil filter so a lot of aftermarket filters were put on . They are for sale on ebay or if there is a junkyard in your area that has the older vehicles you can find an oil filter there . That truck is a beauty . The swap meets have them too .
  8. You don't what to have a loose fuse , it has to make a good connection .
  9. Here are a couple photos of my dads truck . The people in the photo are my dad and my older brother . I am 67 years old now .
  10. If you are going to try the one wire sender , hook it up out of the tank . That way you can move the float through it's range of motion while looking at your dash gauge . Be sure you ground the sender .
  11. You did a good job of drilling them on center .
  12. Plymouthy had posted a link to the product on ebay . ' Braided Copper Soldering Wick ' . I ordered a roll from China for 99 cents with free shipping . He also mentioned that it is available in the electronics stores . I can't find his posting right now .
  13. I mark where the rotor is pointing with a piece of chalk so that I don't get the timing 180 degrees off .
  14. Here is a company that might sell a flexible wire that would work .http://www.coonerwire.com/silicone-flexible-power-cable/
  15. Joe , I measured my original equipment copper wire IGS181 . It measures 2 inches from center of eye terminal to center of eye terminal . I would't want to install anything shorter .
  16. It sounds like the purpose was to allow the oil to transfer from one part of the transmission to the other part of the transmission . It was blocked by the new gasket .
  17. Well here is a little information ; The 3 speed 1939 - 1947 Dodge truck transmission were not synchronized until 1941 , and then only 2 nd & 3 rd gears .
  18. Here is one . ebay munber . 321746751244
  19. If you have a hydraulic line shop nearby , they might be able to make a new line . They do come up for sale on ebay . Usually that line will continue up to your oil gauge .
  20. Graham , i just looked in my book again and discovered that there are different truck serial numbers for the larger vehicles . Dang small print . I will try to correct the serial numbers later today .
  21. Graham , If you have trouble finding a pitman arm , you might have to attack the problem from the opposite direction . Find a column to fit your existing arm . Or find the whole works together , including the steering wheel .
  22. Can you find out the serial number of the truck that the steering column is from ? From the seller of the column ? I don't have any more information on this . It might help to count the splines that you need to match and then post on the 1939 - 1947 dodge truck yahoo group site . Some of those guys have lots of spare parts . Does the seller of the column also have the pitman arm to fit ?
  23. There are two possible pitman arms for your truck . The first one is part number 589748 . All of the following interchange models are for 1941 through 1947 trucks . The WC ( 1/2 ton ) up to serial number 81134613 Detroit built , also up to serial number 9219033 L A built . The WD15 (3/4 ton ) up to serial number 83300003 Detroit , also up to serial number 85500010 L A . WD20 , 21 ( 1 ton ) up to serial number 81211558 Detroit , also up to 8600352 L A . The other part number it could be is 1092196 . This is found on the WC after serial number 81134613 Detroit built also after serial number 9219033 L A . The WD15 after serial number 83300003 Detroit and after serial number 85500010 L A . WD20 , 21 after serial number 8121558 Detroit and after serial number 86000352 L A . The above was edited for errors .
  24. Here is an interesting tune up package that includes the pesky little wire . The wire in the photo is actually a used one as you can see that the insulation is starting to fray on one end . Since the wire is included in this package , i am thinking that it must have been common procedure to replace the wire . I bought this package on ebay a couple of years ago and it may not be available anywhere .
  25. A vacuum gauge will help when adjusting that screw .
