  1. A few days ago someone mentioned posies leaf springs, when I went digging around some they say their springs are designed to lower the car 3". I hadn't really thought about doing that but I do like the droopy rear end look. I wonder how this would look with the rear 3"lower. What else am I not thinking about that makes this a bad idea?
  2. I wish the domestic brands would have picked up the Semaphore style turn indicators. I think there were Volkswagen and some British versions (but I think the British were the magic smoke emitting Lucas flavor so we don't want that). Personally I think they'd fit in with post war domestics well.
  3. I certainly drip and squeek more than my car and it's 15 years older than I am. Dodge built a better machine than my mom (let's not throw stones at my poor maintenance).
  4. Then your familiar with Curtis and Curtis seed. They are kin of mine.
  5. If you can stay out of DFW that'd be my recommendation. I lived in the flight path of the airport, between the planes and the crazy people I hope I never go back. I have family in Texaco NM, that's more my speed. I think that's out your way based on a comment you made here some time ago.
  6. I spent about 12 years in Dallas prior to retiring, yuck
  7. No one here would dare snipe me....... Would they?
  8. Hi all I hang out of the p15\d24 side and ask dumb questions about my 1947 d24 project. Working on this car has given me the bug for a proper vehicle, a pickup. I've been looking around and found one that looks good and I'd like you're opinions on it if you don't mind. It looks nearly perfect in the pictures and description sounds like the real deal. I hope I'm not breaking any rules pasting that link here. Thanks Andy https://www.hagerty.com/drivers-club/my-garage/7knvyrvp/davidrussell/bdd1d505-aadf-4fd8-8c3c-d63545c46f7d
  9. This makes me think about buying a plane ticket. The picture and description make it look perfect.
  10. We just went through there on our way to Newark Ohio a few weeks ago. Trees were nice there too, 2 or 3 weeks ahead of us.
  11. Are you from the hills of TN or NC?
  12. We strolled through the hills for about 160 miles today. The trees are petty and all the little streams are flowing nicely. Had a good time and the old car chugged right along. My math tells me I got a little over 18mpg, can that be right?
  13. I just wrapped mine in duct tape a few days ago.
  14. Lake Lure NC area
  15. It's a great day for a drive in the hills.
  16. Thank you for the pictures Marc, I really appreciate it. I think I'll trade mine in to carb exchange for the correct one.
  17. Mine is a 3 speed with a fluid drive, they require a dashpot (but the one I'm running currently doesn't have one so required is a loose term)
  18. Racerx You are right on the mark! I went on a 125 mile loop today. I let air out of the tires 2psi at a time, when I got down to about 35psi (hot) the car settled down and rides like a dream. There's still just a touch of bump steer but the wild gyrations stopped completely. Thank you for the input, I really appreciate it. Andy
  19. I see he runs his pedals 1/4 turn from stock, I like mine that way too.
  20. Thank you Sam!
  21. My 47 came with a Stromberg, does anyone know if they are interchangeable?
  22. They put helium in the tires.
  23. Does anyone know what the hp is for a 1947 version of the 230 ci engine? My service manual says 25 taxable hp, I assume taxable means the approximate HP of a car that was used as a user tax or maybe for tags? It's hard to believe this car can be sent down the road by 25hp but I guess it's possible. If my math is right a 230ci engine is about a 3.8l, modern 3.8l v6 engines make 150-200hp. They've come a long way.
