  1. I was talking to our neighbor and she said a girl down the street won the lottery. I don't know how much but it is said to be quite-a-bit. So much that they didn't want to put it in the bank and therefore declare it for tax purposes so, they bought a safe and put the money in there. Thieves used a Land-rover and drove through their front window and stole the safe. Makes you wonder haw anyone knew there was a safe there in the first place. I quess if you win the lottery best to keep your mouth shut and don't flaunt it or else there will be someone around to take it off you.
  2. Last night my wife said a white van drove by and stopped then drove off. To night we have moved the car onto the green in front of our house and parked our other 2 cars behind it until I can take extra steps to secure the car.
  3. Los, I like the idea 3 switches but my dash isn't that big. My 37 has the foot pedal for starting and I don't think many people in England know anything about this. People come up to our car and ask why the windshield wipers are on top? I have to tell them because the window cranks open. They stand amazed.
  4. Thanks John, I use to have a German Shepard, Rosie was 14 when she died last month. I did a little checking and I can get a motion detector with a remote alarm good up to 400 feet. I'm thinking of putting the detector in the car and the alarm in the house. My thinking is to make it as difficult as possible. So an ignition switch and the 'Clutch Claw' seems a good bet. I will try to get some keys made for the door and trunk from a lock smith as well.
  5. ptwothree Whats a 'Dobie'? Only thing I can think of is Dobie Gilis. Maybe a picture of Maynard G Krebs in the window might be a deterrent. lol But then I might be showing my age.

  7. Thanks for the reply guys, Unfortunately my car isn't locked as when I bought it there were no keys for the door or trunk. I was thinking on the lines of a hidden switch and will look into this. I did tonight look at a steering wheel lock but with the small thickness of the wheel they are useless. next I tried to remove the rotor but its electronic ignition and the rotor doesn't just pop off. I have looked at a remote motion detector alarm this may have possibilities.I thought of putting a sign in the car window saying, 'CCTV Now Installed.' Unfortunately my Colt 12 gauge pump (Prison Riot Gun) and 45 colt (Peacemaker) I left in America along with 8 other guns, but I like the idea :o).
  8. Howdy all, I am in need of some advice. Last night someone tried tampering with our 37 Plymouth. We live in a cul-de-sac and have no garage so it is parked on the street in front of our house. This morning I noticed the cover was pulled up on the passenger side and the strap underneath was unhooked. I also noticed the trunk lever was up. Very suspicious. Any Ideas as to anti theft measures. Do wheel locks work along with steering wheel locks. What about removing the rotor arm or installing a fuse/key to the starter. Your help would be greatly appreciated. BTW I live in England.
  9. Thanks Don the picture helped and mine is in the same place however the cable has been cut off. I now need to find a replacement. Any ideas? Steve
  10. ptwothree Thanks for the tip on the resister. I did purchase a step-down voltage reducer for my gas gauge and it works great. No more guessing how much is in the tank. I have been all over my engine and can't seem to find the temperature sending unit. I can see from behind the temp dash gauge someone has cut it off but that is all I have. Any ideas where the sending unit on the engine is? Thanks!

  13. Thanks guys. That brings me to the next dilemma. Living in England parts are not as plentiful as they are in the U.S. I will scour the internet and hopefully find something here.

  15. 48p15sdccoupe It may just be me but it always seemed that there was always friction between Ford and Chrysler owners. Myself I would never drop a Ford Drivetrain in anything except the ocean. lol My point earlier is you may be limiting you resale market with that Ford drivetrain. Also Torqueflight transmissions from what others have said and from personal experience are bulletproof. (If only my Dad knew what I use to do to his 65 New Yorker with a 413 cu in engine and Torqueflight tranny.) It's just something to think about.

  17. Nice looking car! One thing you might have overlooked is resale value. I realize you said you do not have any concerns about this but at some point, you may have to or may want to sell the car and you may be limiting your potential market by having a Ford drivetrain in a Plymouth. Myself my stock 37 Plymouth is just fine. I do not need to go 90 mph, 60 is fine. But to each his own. Good luck to you. Give us some pics when it's finished.
  18. Unfortunately, I do not have any switches for the fan. of the 4 knobs at the bottom of the dash, I only have a choke and a modern light switch. I only see 1 wire coming from the fan motor
  19. I have a 1937 Plymouth with a d42 engine. The car has been converted to 12VDC but the heater fan motor is still 6VDC what can I do to make this motor operational? Also, my instruments are not hooked up yet so; 1) can I run the fuel gauge and sending unit on 12 vdc ? 2) what will I need to hook up the temp gauge 3) I am missing the amp meter is there a replacement for my 12volt system?
  20. Hi all, my1937 Plymouth has a worn Pittman & draglink. I am finding it hard to find these parts. Does anyone have any idea where to find these parts or can I adapt something? I would like to keep it as stock as possible. Thanks
  21. Adam, Thanks for the photo. I went to have another look at the timing marks. The wind was blowing quite briskly and as I had my head in the engine the wind ........... You guessed it Those hood doors are heavy! Oddly I didn't get a bump but it was enough to say that's enough for today. :o)
  22. Thanks Adam for your reply. I am not sure what electronic conversion I have. I have just bought the car and the person I purchased it from did the converting. At what RPM were you running when you did the timing? Also which side is the timing marks on? I presume the driver side but its hard to see on this car.
  23. I have a 1937 Plymouth P4 with a D42 flathead 6, I believe that gives her a 1952 engine. She has new electronic ignition and been converted to 12 Volt. Could someone tell me what the proper timing and RPM should be?
  24. Dartgame Thanks for your reply. I guess I will have to find my tac and timming light but since moving to England 21 years ago things get lost and I may have to buy a new one. I origionally come from the Twin Cities MN. Thanks for the information and I will let you know how I get on.
  25. knuckleharley Thank you for your reply. I live in England and fortunatly we do not have ethanol in our gas. The brakes, shoes, wheel bearings have all been replaced. I feel no vibration in the stearing wheel at all. It feels more like it is in the drive train. I did notice I am leaking gear oil from the front of the gearbox.
