Michael, have you tried the Parts Wanted or Parts For Sale sections of this forum? I notice you solicit parts on the forum discussion board quite often, you may find some these items, in the parts for sale section, or better yet, run a standing request for "all the items" you may want/need, just a thought............

Lee thanx for the invite, and it's mighty tempting, but will shoot for next year. I need to get my diff leaks fixed, and new tires, before a longer journey, and a few other small itmes, then she should be good to go, I think...... -
Hi Ed, I think as long as the engine is in good shape as yours is, they can handle 60 to 65 mph cruising, and probably as you mentions bursts to 75- 80 mph. I once had mine up to 70 mph, it would have gone higher, and from 50 to 70 mph, it was fairly easy to get there............

In mY 47 Chrysler coupe, with 3spd trans dry clutch, 3.73 rear end, P205 75 15 tires, I cruise at 55 mph. My engine is not rebuilt, but is a decent engine with good oil pressure and uniform compression. I knwo guys that run these engines without OD trans at 70 mph, some guys on here cruise at 60 to 65 mph without Overdrive. These engines even witha 4.11 rear end can handle 50 to 55 mph, probably all day long. Here use this calculator to determine your engine RPM, at highway speeds, I would venture to guess a flat head 6 in good condition could run 2500 to 2600 rpm all day long. http://www.4lo.com/4LoCalc.htm

Thats is awsome, what great road trip, and to think of it, I am too chicken to drive 450 miles to the "Back to the 50s Car Show" in St Paul Mn. Is your engine and drivetrain rebult, do you have a 3spd trans or OD trans, what gearing does the diff have. Those Eastern USA freeways will be mighty busy, how fast do you cruise? I havea 3 spd trans, and 3.73 in my 47 Chrysler Coupe, usually drive around 55 mph, she is not rebuilt, a decent running flathead 6 from a 1951 Canadian Dodge........Fred -

Very Cool pics, and the car is great. How about some History, I see your from Edmonton, the car is a Canuck D24, but your driving it in Nevada in 2008. Thta is a lot of miles from Edmonton, did you drive it there, or buy it from there........Fred PS who are the folks in the pic, where was the car bought new..... The photos are my car in 1953 and 1971 with the original owners, and again in 2008 in the Nevada desert. -
Nah, good to re-visit these kind of topics. Heck you met up with Earl, that is worthy of a thread on it's own. Did you get any pics at Earl's place.........Fred

This engine as well as other Edgy creations, were featured in a Hot Rod Deluxe magazine article last winter. Very cool engine, but big bucks also. Is he going to try and break his Mopar flat head record at Bonneville this summer..........Fred

I was just reading an interview with 49-51 Merc Car Customizer Bo Huff. When Bo was asked about Paint, he said he still only uses Lacquer based paint, and acrylic enamels. He also stated he has used BC/CC, has won awards with the so-called new technology paints, but he still uses and prefers old skool lacquer and enamel paint. He also mentioned, he uses one favorite spray gun for all his work. True or not, words spoken from an Expert. I think acrylic enamel paint is super shiny, infact my paint job, high gloss synthetic enamel is just as shiny as any BC/CC, I have, and have seen. The clarity and depth on my paint job, is not as good, but I am the one at fault, my inexpereince, and elcheapo harbour freight spraygun, may be the cause. I would not use any 2 k urethane paint products, without a special paint booth, and an air fed respirator. Painting outside, is not good idea, with this poison, especially if you have neigbours/children/animals nearby. I credit Tim Adams, for mentoring me in using enamel paints with modern enamel reducers and hardeners, the results are very good. Here is a pic of the shine on my synthetic enamel paint job, the color is grey, and will not bounce back a shine like reds and dark blues........

Hi Greg, it has a frame, that runs from back to front cowl, then subframe for front diff somehow, not sure if my technical lingo is correct. Hre are 3 pics of the old beast, really a shame fora nice little vehicle to be so deterioated. This will be a yard workewr only, and a little off-road stuff around my property. The air breather is in the Bronco, all fluid levels seem good, very dirty engine area, and messed up with extra wiries for a sound system at one time. The Wife's kid spray painted it with rubberized rocker guard. I will clean it up and getting it mechanically sound for snow pushing, if it is not going to be huge dollars.....

Thanx everyone for the replies, I just got my interent server available again, it was down for maintenance this AM. Greg, this thing looks like a full frame vehicle, is it really uni-body? It seems to run fine, not sure if was ever overheated or not. I want to push snow on my country home driveway only, I have sued a 4 wheel drive quad a few times from neighbour, and was amzed how much snow it could knock down, this little unit should be able to do better. When we get snow storms, we usually can get 3 foot drifts here and there, and the susual on my driveway is about 18 inches deep snow. Out in other areas, I have seen 4 to 5 foot drifts but not my driveway, I only wish to use it on there anyway.........Fred

Hey all, a few months ago My Wifes oldest Son brought home an old 1984 Bronco II 4WD. Some kid from school gave it to him, it is rusty, and well worn, infact they broke the rear drive shaft at the rear yolk, but the diff and transfer case, u-joint mounts look fine. The vehicle still drives with just front diff operation. Today I started it, little V6, seems to run not bad, starts easy, not sure what shape the transfer case, and diffs, are in, as I am no 4wd drive Guy It shifts fine, the transfer case shift works okay, goes into 4H,4L,2H, with no obvious noises or problems. I am thinking of buying it off the Kid, as nobody has been interested in it. My plan is to repair the driveshaft, get all the drive gear in shape, and then just use it as a snow plow, and bush/field truck. I do not have a snow blade for it, but will look for 1 if I decide to acquire this truck. Does anyone know if finding a driveshaft would be very difficult for this unit? What should I look for or consider, before trying to fix this old beater up for a snow plow? Everything seems to work on it, lights, blower moter, wipers, etc, it really starts and runs nicely, but will need some repairs to get her in shape. I would not be registering this vehiclle for road use, only at home. I am thinking it should have enough torque and jamb to move snow. So if anyone has any experience with these vehicles, please share............Fred

Hey all, how many miles are we putting on our vintage Mopars each year, or driving season, and why? What makes you drive a certain amount of miles annually, whether by choice, or by what Mother Nature dictates. In my part of Canada, we generally drive collector cars, from May until October, this can be earlier, or extended, again dictated by Mother Nature. This season so far, since about March 25th, I have put on close to a 1000 miles, haven't really gone anywhere, but still drove a 1000 miles. I expect to rack up about 3000 miles total this year, and again ain't really going anyhwere. My miles are 80% highway miles.......Fred

Ontario, does not have to gouge collector car owners, just tor register there YOM plates. Another example of Government taking advantage of a unique situation.........

Hi Marty anyone witha Canadian built P15 or D25, should be able to answer this and provide pics. Robert KB hopefuly will chime in. Canadas smaller market necessitated having only 1 length engine, which turned out as a blessing for these car owners today,as any engine will fit, 218,228,251, 265..........

Massey 5500 and Massey 7500 combines will have them, these were made late 60s maybe to 1970 or so

If that be the case, I would agree. I think with the diff gearing on a truck, and do trans would be beneficial, unless Dave has swapped in higher gears already. You know for the trucks, I just get the feeling, a T 5 trans would be great.....
