  1. Hey Aero, glad it all worked out, Hey Manitoba has some nice lake country, and fishin that is a ,for sure. It was cool and rainy for your vist, supposed to be sunny and close to 80 next week. Once again, it was great to meet up withyou, I sure hope I get to meet more of our members.........Fred
  2. Hi Reg, even with my smithy muffler, single exhaust, I find it loud at higher rpm on the highway. I also want to go with headers, dual exhaust, but want a more mellow softer sound on the highway. Will have to talk with moose on the headers. Reg what induction/carb(s), are you running on the 42, and can we get pics of the engine? BTW, saw your pics, great looking car, and nice shot of the Grandson with the Brook Trout..........Fred
  3. Hi Ed, I would agree the linkage and subsequent carb tuning may be simpler to adjust tune, set-up etc, I personally cannot attest to this, as I have no experience with the dual set-up. I would think possibly the more modern Holley Webber 2 bbl carb is a progressive carb, and would be more efficient, and would operate possibly better, again no data or experience to back this up. I also want to try this route Ed, 2 bbl carb, shaved hed .030, and split exhaust, I would think this would pack a bit more punch. Hey let's face it, if we could get close to 25 more hp on a 100 hp engine, that is a 25 % gain in HP, so not bad. An some of the late 50s 230 engines were up around the 125 hp mark, because of compression ratio increases. I would think if you tricked out a 251 or a 265 engine you may easily get to 140 to 150 hp.........Fred
  4. I would imagine you would get about a 15 to 20 hp HP increase by going with dual exhaust/headers, shaved head to increase compression ratio, and with either a dual intake or a 2 bbl Holley Webber carb set-up. I have been told by 1 individual, who has a couple of dual intake engines, that a 2 bbl carb on single intake, may be a better option, just an idea he had. I think shaving the head and splitting the exhaust may give a good boost on it's own. Some individuals have gone the full rebuild with high-perf cam, headers, dual carbs, shaved head, decked block, and electronic igntion, may get a 140 to 150 hp. Even Earl Edgy's racer flahead engines may only be around the 200 hp range, full of bottom end, and typical inline 6 cyl torque, but not the top end hp of an overhead valve V8. Not sure my answer helped, it is only observation, and speculation based on my readings on this forum over the years, hopefully those in the know can answer your questions in much more detail and experiantial acuracy.........Fred
  5. Hey Bob, looks like I am 8 feet tall, I am 6'2"..........
  6. Hey Joe, the garage is something I like to have neat and organized if possible, but it could be better. Thanx for the compliment on the car, I drove Aero back to the city in my Van, but we avoided the deer, it isa very bad 10 mile stretch of highway where so many people hit deer.........Fred
  7. Greg, I totally agree, I was telling Aero, it is sometimes not so fun being the only known P15 D24 member around here. There is not a big 40s ,50s Flat Head Mopar following eihter. We do have Lanny Knutson POC Editor living in Winnipeg.......
  8. Jim, I may have another fuel pump just like this one, it is all apart though. Will have a look through my stuff and get back to you, if your interested..........Fred
  9. Hey all, it was great to meetup with Aero in the "Peg", we then took the cruise back out to the Farm, where the old girl was ion her stable. I wished it would have been more daylight, so we could have had a longer cruise, and get together. The 47 performed as per normal, hey the lights work good, and the speedo still changes color. Keith it was great meeting you, and if and when I am in the Big Apple, hope to get together again........Fred
  10. Smallmouth Bass, and some real nice ones up here.....
  11. Hey, all just gota call from Aero, he has landed safely at James Richardson Airport(YWG), via Minneapolis Mn. I hope to meet up with Aero tonight or tomorrow morning, the lousy part it's gonna rain, and my road is a quagmire of filth, so the 47 stays home in that case. Will post pics, and hopefully Aero will add to the thread, he will be in the "Peg", until Thursday morning, but He is also going fishing to Crowduck Lake Lodge, lucky guy, Bronzebacks,Walleyes, and Northern Pikes......
  12. My suggestion Rich to all, is to rebuild the fuel pump or send it in for rebuild with quality ehtanol resistant rubber. I believe Antique Auto Cellar has the appropriate kits. On that note I have both types of fuel pumps, glass bowl and non, I am currently running a non-glass bowl type. This fuel pump is 70s circa, so far no issues with enthanol blended fuels, Manitoba Gasoline has 12 % ethanol ratio in regular fuel, there is none in Premium Gas, and slightly less in mid grade gasolines....... 13. That looks great Ed, nice color combo too........Fred
  14. Vert well said Moose. If I had another choice, or could afford it, I would have a 40s period type Hot Rod Model A or T. I would go with a SBC 283 bored out.080 over, power pack heads,10.5 to 1 pistons, Isky Cam, Edelbrock intake Holley 650 ,open headers, Muncie 4 spd, maxed out, that would be a pipe dream for me rumbling down the street, and layin rubber, at every stop light, maybe a drag race or 2 down Main street in town...................LOL
  15. How did that Purdy Lady put up with you that long, or us that how did she put up with the P15 addiction. All the best Don and Lisa......................Fred
  16. Hey Rob, sorry to hear you want to depart to explore other venues, hope you change your mind. I have a 7 year old Boy tugging on my arm to go outside, will add more later. I think there is a number of issues lately that has become a real turn-off, with 1 individual at the forefront of these issues. I am not blaming this individual for your wanting to leave the flock, but that person has rasied the "devil" in a lot of us. I am with the majority, if there is a decent or a very complete original then stock certainly is my answer, but scrap heaps, that may get crushed and melted, a tasteful hot rodding is nice too. I know a Gent from the Yahoo 46-48 Chrysler board, he has 3 such vehicles 2 rag tops, all original, except he is currently installing a hemi under the hood of one of the 48 Chrysler rag tops, the body, and interior will remain bone stock. The engine trans and diff, are getting upgraded to hemi power. I think this is cool, but there would be a lot of people cringing on what he is doing toa 48 Chrysler convertible. I think it has been said, when people spend there money and build what they want who am I to say, and vice versa. I certainly have enjoyed your posts Rob,and you have been a big help via email and PMs, hope to keep intouch..Fred
  17. What a "marroon"..............LOL
  18. Hi James, epoxy is good stuff, my Uncle has 4, 67-70 Chev trucks, parked in an open front pole shed, they are in epoxy primer, and have been for years, no sign of rust on these. Epoxy primer isa pretty darn good sealer, I havea coiple of itmes outdoors in epoxy primer, not a sign of rust on them.........
  19. Heheheh,hohohoho, hahahha:p, I feel like another so-called educated member:D
  20. Nice!!!!!!!
  21. Pat, are you serious, it is warm and humid here, gonna be 75 no heat wave, but decent very humid though.....
  22. Thanx Pat, waiting to hear back from EZCool, to see what they recommend. Hey Pat you rode in the car, did it smell, mind you it was cool outside....Fred PS the only thing, I thought of after your visit, dum Me, shoulda let you drive her..
  23. Great Pics Ed, looks like you and Carmon had a great time.....
  24. If your gonna have a car in primer, epoxy is the best way to go as what Ed, has done. It seals very well, is not so porous, it is used as a substrate primer, and it is used as a sealer too. It may or may not sand/block like 2k urethane primer, and does not build like 2 k urethane or polyester primer either.
