  1. Hey all, this morning I adjusted my carb, idle mixture screw turned in until a miss then backed off 1/2 turn or so. I also slowed down the idle a bit, she idles nice, and quiet:). I did notice my take off much smoother, before this adjustment, my clutch seemed to mildly chatter:confused:, it is silky smooth on take off now;). I even did a wee burn out:eek: on gravel today, can you imagine this in a 47 Chrysler............LOL:cool:
  2. Hey all was at the waterfront (Selkirk Manitoba on the Red River) about 1/2 hour ago, took a pic or 2 of the car by the old Paddlewheel Boats. Was a gorgeous day, about 70, car ran better than ever, nice spot to park, fish, hangout, whatever, I am actually ona dock, with the car......Fred
  3. No kidding, How many believe Mikey is a genuine Lawyer, I for one do not!!!!!!!!
  4. How about Blue Ribbon or Coors Joe, Schlitz.......Hmmmmmmmm
  5. No doubt it could be that, or the fuel pump, mine does the same. I am content to live with a bit of a tic, rather than do a poor valve adjustment, and screw something up. Others have done successful valve adjustments, do a search, there is a video too I believe detailing how to do a corrrect valve lash adjustment.....Fred
  6. Guys I have driven 1000s of miles on snow covered, ice covered roads, you learn how to drive on these surfaces. You learn how to handle the road, when to brake for stopping, and how to use the slippery surface to your advantage in some cases. The problem is this, picture driving down a dark snow covered highway, the snow is blowing drifting, visibilty is just beyond the hood of the car. You then drive very slow, then some yahoo is coming in the opposite direction or behind you in a F150 4X4, and smashed into you, most times your are going to take the "dirt nap", it's collisions on these types of road condtions, that are so very dangerous.......Fred
  7. Congratulations to the both of you, all the best for your Son's Justice Future.......Fred
  8. Another "brainstorm flash", Mikey what is your ryhme and reason for some questions, forget about snow driving, you aint gonna drive your 100 k restoration P15 in the snow and salt anyway.......

  10. Any relation to Michael T Warshaw Lawyer in the Jersey Shore Area? Perhaps your Father, or Uncle, you both have the same name, gotta be related.........
  11. Aero, glad you like the fire extinguisher, background history. It was from the famous Royal Alexandra Hotel, built in around 1882 in Winnipeg Canada, this was a Canadian Pacific Railway Hotel, built attached to the Train Station at the corner of Higgins and Main Streets. This hotel was demolished around 1971, my Father was the Demo Company Manager, he stated the compnay made a fortune on this job, from the actual auctions, sales, and final takedown of the 6-8 storeyhotel. It was complete with Ballroooms with massive chandeliers, grand pianos and the like. Will let you know when the compass arrives...............Fred
  12. Hey welcome fellow Canadian, nice car BTW, hope to read more of your posts in the future.......
  13. Hi Shel the window garnish is on, will check and see if it is secure all the way around. But I would have thought the seal should be good on the outside, but who knows. The Riff Raff CC, not putting them down, the members that were there yesterday, with the exception of the one I know, were not over friendly, and did not seem very interested in my car....
  14. I adjusted my brakes initially as per the manual, my drums had very little material removed. I have since adjusted and checked my brake shoes with home made brake tool, they were quite close, and the wear pattern looked fairly even. I had a very good brake pedal right off the bat, with adjusting without a special tool. I am not stating it should be done like this, just my experience. I also no a bunch of Old Mopar owners who have adjusted there brakes the same way, all brakes work well. 1 owner has 3 vintage Mopars, his brakes are all adjusted, without the brake gauges, all have good brakes, and wear patterns. Again, the brakes would perform best witha correct brake adjustment right off the bat, sometimes brake shoe grinders were used to create an arc, but this will happen with some wear. I do see the wisdom and advantage in a disc brake upgrade, but the stock brakes will perform if set-up poperly and are adjusted periodically
  15. I don't know if I would go that far with how they were, certainly not friendly types, and I really don't care anyway, they didin't seem like my type to hang with anyway, with the exception of the 1 individual I know, he is a decent dude................Fred
  16. Hey Ralph, not sure what do do to fix the leak, it isa brand new weathrstrip, and sealant was used, any suggestions anyone..........Fred
  17. Hey hang in there, take a breather for at least the rest of tonight. All of these issues you will get corrected, 1 at a time, or whichever is need the most. I know it's easy to get down and frustrated at tiems, but trust me it will all come together, but sometimes we need to walk away and not think about it for a while. Brakes all locked up, check MC, relief port clogged, look into the MC and you will see this little port, it must be free and clear to allow the MC to relieve hydraulic pressure. If all for wheel's brakes are locked, the MC should be the culprit. Gas Gauge, sender unit, if both are working, make sure all connections are tight and clean, are the wires from gauge to sender, in good shape. What is the gauge and sender doing, is dead, or partially working, is this 1 wire or 2 wire sender gas gauge? I am sure you will find all the answers to your problems/issues on this forum. Take the night off, and go relax..........
  18. Looks Fantastic Phil, the Genny is calling for a shot of gloss black too........
  19. Hey all, took the 47 out today, against my gut instinct, ihas been rainin, like we was on the Pacific Northwest. I drove over to the Half-Moon restaurant, in Lockport Manitoba, was to meet up witha Guy I know from Winnipeg, and members of his Riff Raff CC, Rockabilly folks. Well only a few showed up, and only 1 old car, a 1950 Chebby, which I took a pic of and it did not work for some reason, the others came in 3 ohter modern cars, not sure why. The 1 Guy I know is into Mopar Flatties, but his ride was not ready to go today. Okay backtrack, I arrive about a 1/2 hour before the Rockabillies, parked in the overflow parking lot in the back, over looking the river valley and the Lockport Dam. A few folks immediately made a B line for my car, we started chin wagging a bit, then it started to pour like you wouldn't believe. I went into the Half Moon, it was jam packed, bought a Pepsi, and waited for the rain to slow down. My car has never been in the rain for 5 years, not since I have fixed her up, she did well, with only 1 small leak at the bottom middle of the back window, my weatherstrip job, leaked a bit, the cowl vent seal did not leak, nor did the front window, so nice and dry inside. The Folks I was to meet up with arrived, they took very little interest in my car, and they were not overly friendly with me either, except for the one Guy I know, and he is a decent very friendly guy. I did not stick around, went to Selkirk Manitoba about 5 miles away, down the highway wipers going, defroster going and cruising 60 mph, car ran extemely well. I pulled under the canopy of a Safeway Gas Bar, on Main Street, and waited, then drove home, drove her very slow on my gravel road, then gave the old girl a bath, and washed under undercarriage and wheel wells at home, then put her to bed. Here are some pics, this is the back of the Half Moon, the front side is a very awesome looking place, but I was really not in the mood tho take more pics today, was happy to leave and cruise home......
  20. Nope, these old girls need there engine oil checked often, I check mine just about every drive. That my be a bit radical, but weekly checks should be the order. At 2 quarts low your oil pressure will bob up and down.........Fred
  21. Hey Aero, hope this is a simple fix, let us know what happens with this today......Fred
  22. The name has now changed Joel, it is officially titled, "Evening At Walmart"........
  23. Greg, we also had the FW Woolworth Stores, and Kresge's all on Portage avenue In Winnipegs downtown. As a kid liked having lunch at the Woolworth Cafeteria.......
  24. I phoned the Bernbaum once, to enquire about some part or another. I had full prior knowledge of his crusty demeanor, I phoned, I then proceed to talk his langauge, if you know what I mean, so had no problem, and he answered my questions. I personally can live with business people being rude and obnoxious, as long as they can deliver a decent product, and provide good customer service, and return exchange policies. I think Mr AB, may be lacking in some of these areas, but to his credit may supply enough decent product at decent prices to overcome his blatant shortcomings. The market for our cars is much narrower than the other 2, Furd and Chebby. As far as Roberts is concerned, no problem in dealing with Gary, good service, and prompt shipping. I do think however Steele Rubber, will take the lead on a superior product with respect to rubber products. My advice to anyone is to investigate, before contempt, make your decisions based on your own experience with AB, so far his record of happy customer realtions is weak, sorry Andy is you cruise this site, if you do, maybe you should look at your "hoist side manner".......
