  1. I took off a couple shocks today in preparation for replacement. It seems one may have been missing a washer, but I'm not sure. Are there supposed to be one on each side of the bushings for both top and bottom mounts, front and rear?
  2. I see a "made in Colorado" Croc shoe in the photo; you can't be "all" bad. ?
  3. V-Dub non significant?! Why I oughta...
  4. Yo, I bought wheel cylinders from 3 different sources at 3 different price points; ~$20 - $60. They were all the same MFG! In hindsight I would send the originals out for sleeving. Two of the cylinders were poorly machined and leaked?
  5. Great timing as I just finished painting my wheels - yep, just the wheels. It turned out to be a greater challenge than I had anticipated. I learned a ton and expect if I were to continue and paint the truck proper, I would learn a ton more. At at this point, I concur with @Plymouthy Adams, “Ask a dozen painters and get a dozen different answers.” Armed with my new-found knowledge, if I were to paint my truck; and I may, I’ll go back to the local paint store with a box of donuts and jug of coffe and continue making a pest of myself ? ...then start with the inside tailgate. 1) MP 171 Epoxy Primer then Defleet Essential ESSS - ‘cause that’s why the paint shop crew reccommended 2) Did it myself ‘cause that’s how I roll. 3) Love how it turned out 4) Took a week longer than I had anticipated because of all the mistakes I made along the way - despite the amazing advice and knowledge gained here.
  6. I think I'm done. How long should I wait before I can mount the tires?
  7. Got some Delfleet Essential HS (whatever that stands for) Polyurethane Single Stage, hardener and slow activator. Hope it goes on as smooth as butter.
  8. OK - 'nuff said. New it is.
  9. Shaving the head always helps unless you've already shaved it, or somebody else did the deed.
  10. Found a set of 205 60R 16 Bridgestone fir $250 or can buy 215 70 R16 from Discount Tire at $300. Thoughts? Here are the CK tires: https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/pts/d/bridgestone-16-in-tires/6669080454.html
  11. Hoping to shoot color later today. Should I finish with a clear coat, or just cut, polish and wax? ...and how long should I let them sit before I mount the tires?
  12. Round two today. What a difference too. Using all the knowledge shared here I was able to lay down a smooth even epoxy prime coat. This time, mixed the paint better. A little less hardener. A tad less air pressure (35 at the gun) and a wider spray pattern, but not full wide. The paint went on smooth and even, great coverage. No bald spots or drips and sags. I'll flip them over in the AM and start the outward facing sides. Maybe I can give them a couple hours then start shooting color. Thanks to all who have shred here.
  13. Can't even see the green or blue, ergo what kind of confidence can one have in any of the other colors.
  14. “ I know you think you understand what you thought I said but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant” -AG
  15. Ahh, clean it up and smear a little JB Weld on it ?
  16. Sorry to be so obtuse, but what is "semi fluid grease"? I refilled mine with Lucas 85/140 GL5. Didn't notice much change.
  17. We need a restored version of that chart as it has become a bit dingy with age. Would you mix a batch of paint based upon thor paint chips? ?
  18. The steering wheel is supposed to go in the front (engine end). Just sayin’
  19. I call that the Walmart Effect. Take lawn mowers these days. They've cut down the handle height by 6 inches, shortened the pull cord by 4 inches, put on smaller diameter wheels that are made of plastic.... Think of the cost savings world wide.
  20. Yeah, I was seriously thinking about rattle canning them. And when it all went to $h!t I was kicking myself. My rattle can work is some of my best stuff.
  21. Where/how did you find them?
  22. Wow, I like how you tell it like it is. Yes, I did have a lot of dry spray. Great insight, thanks!
  23. I've been trying 220 grit and it gums up pretty quick. I'll give it more time and switch to the recommended 120.
  24. Thanks Dave, yeah, flash time was 20 minutes. Your looking at one coat. In a couple days I plan on giving it another go. Trying to sand down the ridges and other lumps and bumps a bit. Hoping they don't have to be perfect and after another couple coats of primer and two more of color it will look half way decent.
