  1. I'm still in on combustion gas test. I believe you may be able to borrow one but for the $50 I'd rather own one. I use them all the time at work. For the drain thing new York same deal. So I put in a drain and covered it with plywood and poured the concrete, inspector said good to go. When he left a couple whacks with a hammer and I had a drain ????
  2. That's the same one that I've watched, good technique. I'm looking for some ideas so they aren't plain Jane but not the gaudy flames and hotrod stuff. I think I'm going to try some real wood inlays with the Chrysler chrome script glued on to it
  3. Has anyone made their.own door panels. Maybe some pictures of the process and finished product. I'm trying to get some ideas.
  4. I'm sure I can handle it?. Ben working on cars and rigs all my life. Just didn't want a surprise since nos parts are difficult to find I hear. I know the owner at Atlas and he is a different type of person. He can find anything and is pretty cheap to do business with but you are going to get it when he is ready. Sometimes quick sometimes a long time. We also have teds electric.
  5. I knew the disc usually could be cleaned, how hard is it to take the solenoid apart without damaging the wires to the coil I guess would be my concern. I will search for those pics when I get a holiday minute. Ty for the response
  6. I own a 49 c45 Chrysler royal. Every once in a while the starter just clicks, and I go under the hood and manually turn the engine over by pushing the solenoid (Bendix plunger) in and then I'll be fine for a month or so. I'm pulling the starter this winter for brushes and bearings. Can you disassemble the solenoid to clean the contact disc on these?
  7. My driver's door sticks out at the bottom. I've tried to adjust the hinge in on the bottom but doesn't go in far enough. It's a 49 royal. Is there another trick I should try. I'm not sure why it's out I'm thinking maybe someone has used the old 2x4 trick in the past. The stricker lines up fin and the door closes fine but a 1/4 inch gap bothers me. Ty
  8. I also took a new nut and ran that on and off to clean the threads before I tried to take the bumper off to make it easier
  9. I have found up here in the north that semi-loose hose clamps tend to suck air in the cold. I would also check them
  10. I would have to say no to the bolt thing as it sounds freely and smooth when I had it out of the car
  11. So we have snow tommorow and I will put the heated blanket on and a corn bag in the bonnet
  12. I love the gas station in Bennington vt. Hemmings fuel station I will have to dig up a pic
  13. M6 trans and its hard to hold back with brakes. Everything is stock and has done it since I got the car. This will be a winter project as it's below freezing as of this morning an now won't leave the garage.
  14. It is odd, I can start the car in gear and take right off. And it baffled me since the clutch surface rotated so freely
  15. I haven't changed the oil.
  16. I've tried the rpms at 450, 500, 550, different timing. I just rebuilt the engine and has fresh tune up. Runs great. Not a runnability thing. When the fluid coupler was on the bench it rotated freely and smooth. Has me stumped. I can only think of oil issue.
  17. It's at 450
  18. Low, high or even reverse. If I lower the idle down to around 380 rpms it starts to release but engine dies out due to load at a low idle. I was wondering if the fluid was to thick if it may keep coupled at lower rpms
  19. Yes, engine stalls. The engine and tranny have both been rebuilt and operates as designed.
  20. .My car is a 49 Chrysler royal. At a stop I have to use the clutch pedal. I've been using the car as a standard due to the fluid coupling appears not to de couple. The idle is set at 450 rpms. I've tried higher and lower rpms. Fluid level is good and when I had the tranny out there were no leaks and it rotated free.

    49 royal

what body does the royal share from the other lines of cars. when looking for a headliner the Coronet seams to be the same, would the carpet be the same? I guess knowing the shared bodies may help when ordering parts since it seams harder to find royal parts.
  22. I had a pop up there all weekend, not the most comfortable sleeping weather.
  23. can not make that show, we are hiking in ellenville this weekend
  24. my car and family were there. this is a before and after pic. just 16 months into the transformation
  25. my toe inn was a little off, driving at 65 and rims made for bias and wammo. broken rim. my junk yard down the road had a rim for a 52 imperial right on the shelf.
