  1. Exacty right as stated I asked for everyones honest opinion and that's what I expected. At 70 years old I'm way past the being insulted stage, I enjoy looking at everyones ride no matter what it is and appreciate the work and effort put forth in it's creation. Putting a Furd in a Chevy would make me puke but I would have to respect the owner because he liked it, and besides who am I to judge someone else's project, the car hobby is about having fun and meeting other folks who share the same passion. The great thing about these sites is you get a chance to interact with people all across the country and world for that matter, I think it's a great experience, I only hope I can contribute some of the things I've learned over the years, and I always appreciate honest feedback good or bad. I hope nobody is offended that wasn't the intent.

  3. OLDGUY48, thanks! the cap is stuck, and won't budge. it was probably a neat idea back then, but I already am experiencing that pain! incidentally, I lived in Stroudsburg, PA, from 2003 to 2007 exit 299, Tannersville........

  4. I found the easiest solution for vapor lock was just hold the gas pedal to the floor and push the starter pedal with your left foot. Starts right up everytime after very quick.. I always worried about taking my truck out, even for a casual drive, and now I don't worry about it one bit. So many people make this such a difficult problem when actually it's a simple fix. I do have a heat shield installed on my engine but they don't prevent vapor lock. Try it out. Jeff E.

  5. The ammco 1750 tool is worthless to use correctly unless each wheel set of shoes are arced to match the diameter of each drum. Get the shoes arced for each drum size whether std drum or oversized drum and the tool will work as per the instructions Rich sent with the tool. Bob

  6. Tractors and airplanes. Here is my wife on the tractor we had on the farm near Buffalo. And this is not an airplane but it is named after one.

  9. Well, here's another miscreant chiming in. Although I haven't kept it a secret that my P15 is powered by Chevy, I haven't been bashed or banished (YET). Oh, I've gotten a little bit of good natured ribbing, but that's OK. What I have gotten, is quite a lot of help from this forum during my build. I guess I can understand the Mopar loyalty, so I appreciate the fact that I haven't been tarred & feathered for my transgressions. But the fact remains that I love the P15, and am very happy with the SBC that scoots it along. It's a car that I am extremely proud of, and it has been the recipient of several awards, both locally, and at the Ocean City, MD car show. So to answer the question posed by the original poster..."A great old car with a little extra kick". And I am grateful for all the help, advice, etc. that I have received from this forum. A great bunch of folks. Thank you. Wayne

  11. Point taken, thanks for being tactful. I'll be the odd man out; an engine is an engine. Do a nice clean looking install that showcases engineering skill and I'm all for it. I saw a 55 dodge with a Lexus V8 last year; beautiful work. You'd have swore Dodge built it that way if you didn't know better.

  13. Glad you called Airtex and got that information. One other issue. Should anyone using an electric fuel pump (no matter if plumbed direct or through the mechanical pump) have a crash (severe enough to fracture the fuel line anywhere on the discharge side of the pump) the pump will continue to pump even though the engine is no longer running. And it could pump the gas directly on top of the hot exhaust system turning the driver (who has passed out after his head went through the windshield) into a crispy critter. I could suggest you install an impact switch that would kill the pump upon impact. But it is better if you call Airtex for more clarification.

  14. Put PB blaster and some Marvel oil down the cylinders a week ago. Seemed to do the job. Turned over by hand on the fan when I got the sheet metal out of the way. Still had one valve stuck. Worked it a bit and it started working also.

  15. I wonder if the front rims are the same size as the rear. Maybe both are 15" but the rear are wider. And I wonder what the tire sizes are. That is a nice looking truck. Wonder if it was in a FIRE!
