greg g Posted April 8, 2011 Report Share Posted April 8, 2011 The post war year were pretty lean as far as materials were concerned, so WW were pretty scarce. Chysler cars featured optional white painted metal pieces that fit between the hubcap and the wheel rim and provided a WW appearence. these were also available in shiney metal to look like a full wheel cover. The after market sold plastic ones that soon yellowed and cracked just like real wide whites. I remember my Dads having large pieces missing before he finally just threw them away. That was in the middle 50's. Aftermarkets are painted metal. alan32433 Posted April 9, 2011 Report Share Posted April 9, 2011 I bought my tires from Coker also, I bought radial BF Goodrich Silvertowns. They have a 2 3/4 inch white walls.
