Have you ever seen one of these cigarette lighters?

The Plymouth 'flag' floats around in the lighter fuel.

Bryan, owner of my (ex) coupe, was given it.

The story is that the guy was given it as a souvenir after a visit to the factory to see P15s being built.

He was an engineer and was taken on the trip, from the UK, to see American technology in action, after the war.

He loved Bryan's car and said that he should have the lighter.

Sorry about the pic quality.

Nice souvernir! wonder what you get if you go to the kia plant to watch those cars being built? my guess will be SARS!:D

Kimchi.

Nothing wrong with Kia's. Wife has an 02 Spectra GSX she bought new. So far shes put over 38,000 trouble free miles on it. Plus, it gets about 28 or 30 MPG in the city and about 36 to 38 MPG Highway. Fun to drive too, has great pick up and is smooth riding on the highway.

Norm report back with the same info when you get to 138K. I don't think you can buy a car now that wont go 38K miles without issues

Well.........hopefully it will be better than the 90 Caravan I had. Transmission rebuild at just under 70,000 miles. 110,000 miles and it smoked more than the smoke stacks at the coal burning electric power plant, plus the transmission was slipping again. The 87 Reliant I had needed an engine rebuild at about 90,000 miles. Now, I won't even get into the problems I had with my 85 Plymouth Tourismo, I'd have to write a book on that one. All 3 of these were new when I bought them.

By the way, Kia is building a plant down Tim Adams way in Georgia. Should be in production about the end of the year or early next year if I remember right. Then they will be American built. They must be doing something right.

Hopefully they keep doing things right...I have a 2003 Honda Civic and after 115K miles it needed a new tranny. I heard that it's the biggest problem with 2000-03 civics. lately Hundai is showing off good designs and nicer looking cars...

I agree wit hthe lighter real NEATO!

I've always liked those lighters too. That type was real popular back in the 50's & 60's. Believe Ronson made them. All kinds of neat stuff floating around in them.

As for the Hundai, I've never owned one. However, some friends of ours bought a new Santa Fe in about 2000 and still have it. Don't know if they've ever had any problems with it, but they've never complained about anything. Don't know how many miles they have on it.

My daughter also bought a new Santa Fe in 2002. She just traded it in on a new Buick last fall. She had over 100,000 miles on the Santa Fe when she traded it in and never had any trouble with it.

Tim,

On the highway my wifes little 1.7 liter Kia with overdrive only runs at about 2700 to 2800 RPM's at about 75 MPH.:D No strain at all. I've had it up to about 95 MPH (wasn't watching my speed or using the cruise:rolleyes: ) and it felt like we were only doing about 70 MPH and no strain or engine noise. You should take one out for a test drive sometime.;)

Norm..I turn 2350 at 75 MPH...and acceleration out the but with my squared 3.5..now if your Kia is a 4 cylinder..that RPM is norm..I saw all the lwoer entry cars overseas in the middle east before they arrived in the US..Hyundia, Diahatsu, Kia etc etc..all the bigger Nissans...the Cedric etc..seen all the big Tatra etc...major line over there...even saw models that were "advertised" as only US mdoels here int hes tates to be daged another name there..there is nothing sacred in the auto business...
