We had this discussion before but I did a quick search and couldn't find the thread. Getting ready to order some DVDs from Amazon and I'd like some suggestions for old car flicks. First item on the order is The Long Long Trailer with Desi and Luci. Always makes me laugh and there are two 53 Plymouths in backup roles.

Seems like there were some Sam Spade type movies where the private eye drove a Plymouth coupe...? Maybe an original uncensored version of Smokey and the Bandit?

I already have "The Blob", starring a 53 Plymouth Convertible, co starring Steve Mcqueen. And Thunder Road.

My son gave me a set of early superman serials that were shown in the movie theaters in I guess the late 40's early 50's. Plenty of early mopars cars and trucks. The shows are also fun to watch not what we saw on tv all different actors except Lois Lane .

41 Plymouth 4dr staff car seen quite a bit in John Wayne's "In Harm's Way" and a nice Pilot-House P/U in Jimmy Stewart's "Strategic Air Command".

If all else fails, they have John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart. Enough reason to watch them again!:D

This morning over on the Jalopy Journal site I saw an ad for a DVD called "the road to Bonneville." It is about two fellows from New York State that drive their 32 Ford coupes to Bonneville and back every year. Thought that I just had to have it so I ordered it, should be here in about two weeks. After I get to watch it I will let you know what I think of it. It is 60 minutes long with a 45 minute trailer.

I was looking at a movie with Hedy Lamarr she was driving this super cool convertible, funny I have never seen her in many movies until this week. TMC is featuring her every thursday evening. She was in this spy movie last night and man this car was great. Then she played in a movie with Spencer T and John Garfield and the lawyer that came to visit Garfield drove up in a 37-38 Plymouth.

One of my hobbies is collecting DVD's. I have over 200 in my collection. Just bought another one ( O.C. And Stiggs) but it is not delivered yet. I buy most of my movies from Amazon. I have bought some good used ones there for less than a buck with a flat rate $2.98 shipping. This is less than Blockbuster charges for rental. Plus I was tired of paying Blockbuster extra fees for failing to rewind the DVD's before I returned them. I did finally buy a DVD re-winder and it works pretty good.

The "Naked City" starring Barry Fitzgerald was just on TCM. Filmed in New York City in 1948 it is chock full of all of the cars of the day. You could check the listings, it may be re-run sometime this month.
